When we arrived, there was already the first problem. The hotel reservation was not before. Only two days later we had the certainty, that we cannot remain. There has apparently our tour operator slept. At the front desk us only said, that it was not their fault and we the room in advance pay have to. Well - we had it already in the August paid ;-). The room was small and without a balcony. Balcony by us one booked but we got none. Food was on 'English' art. In the hotel were as well too many English. The staff speaks only English. … read more

Wonderful hotel by the beach

Very nice cheap hotel with a excellent restaurant. The breakfast is for German conditions expressed extensive (full English breakfast). In the evening are particularly the fish dishes recommendable. The asstrand is located directly in front of the hotel and is on the car-free promenade. Only the tv-program is not satisfactory. The only German receive tv-transmitter was RTL. We had over booking. De a deluxe twin room with a view of the sea booked. The room and the balcony was so small, that only a move could. The room was very spartan, the term 'deluxe' we could only the price apply. After complaint us a big room assigned, the our idea and the international standards was. At the check-in we were like school kids treated, and the managers afterwards apologized. The only very positive was the location in front of the beach. The cathedral Jose hotel is from Faro airport easy to reach. From here the Algarvebesucher many daytrips undertake, to the area to meet. To the beach the Strandfreund only with the ferries on the lying off Islands or by car a swimming spot (circa 30 minutes). The hotel offers a good relaxation by the pool; however on time the guest 'beach chair' secure. The breakfast is varied. Treatments in the spa area are also offered. Location
The hotel, located directly in the middle of the tourist centre is just a short walk from the nearby fine sandy beach. The centre of town along with numerous shopping opportunities, restaurants, bars and nightclubs are all just a short walk away. Access to public transport is also located in the immediate vicinity. The Vilamoura Marina harbour is about 3 km away, the waterpark about 4 km, the marine zoo about 25 km and the historic Silves Castle is about 40 km.
Facilities
The hotel was built in 1965 and renovated in 2003. It contains 154 rooms on 7 floors, of which 21 are suites. The hotel's facilities include a pleasant lobby with a lift and a cosy sitting area, a 24-hour reception, a currency exchange desk and a bar. Furthermore, this air-conditioned complex has conference facilities and a restaurant. For a fee, Internet access, a laundry service, bike hire and parking facilities are also available.
Rooms
The elegantly furnished rooms come with an en suite bathroom with hairdryer, individually adjustable air-conditioning, direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV and a safe.
Sports/Entertainment
There are a pool, a sun terrace and a snackbar located on the grounds. There is also a private stretch of beach with sun loungers and parasols available to guests. Furthermore, the hotel offers minigolf or a seasonal entertainment programme. The nearest golf course lies about 3 km from the hotel.
