Bumpy start for the Escape Honeymoon package

  • June 2015
We arrived to the hotel at 15:10 and our room was not ready until 15:50. We were already quite hungry at that time and wanted to go to the executive lounge. We had booked a junior suite and every junior suite is entitled to the executive lounge but the door didn't open for us. The access was not coded to our key cards. The executive lounge hostess could not do anything to the matter. So we had to go up the room and get our booking confirmation and go back to the reception. There was a young male ... receptionist who after some time reading our papers realized that we indeed had an executive lounge access. To our package was also included a bottle of sparkling wine but he claimed that it is served in the lounge. Finally we got him convinced that it has to be delivered to the room. To the package was also included a late check-out at 16:30 which we was granted at check-in. Next day when we came back from the town at 14:30, the key cards had stopped working. We had booked a transfer to the airport at 16:30, but the lady at check-out told us to take a cab outside the hotel. One of the five lifts was very cranky and nearly every time we were forced to use it. So it was very frustrating to have to take these extra rides up and down. The reception staff was very incompetent and in need of extra training what is included to what package and what room type. We had a three course dinner at the Parmesan restaurant. It was also included to our package. The service at the dinner was professional and the food tasty. The breakfast was chaotic and we moved to the executive lounge which was very nice in decor and food service. The location is good opposite to the Central Railway Station and the views from every room are panoramic because the rooms start from the 21st floor upwards. read hotel review

This is a typical Marriott hotel, perfect for business. It is very well placed in the business area, walking distance from the tourist/old town area. The breakfast is comprehensive but nothing for gourmets. read hotel review

Very pleasant stay on a short three day trip recently. Staff is very friendly and competent. Nice executive lounge with very welcoming and smiling staff. If you order room service, you have got to try zurek (egg and rye) soup - it is wonderful. Best views of the city from the top floor rooms. The hotel was very busy at the time so there might be a little wait for the elevator but they are very fast. Shopping mall is just across the road; other facilities around the corner include a Starbucks, an array of restaurants (Champions bar is good ... for large companies). read hotel review

One of the better Marriott hotels in Europe

Stayed a few times before at the Marriott Warsaw. This time I found out that the rooms have had an update. New furniture and carpets in the room gave the rooms a much more luxurious look and feel. The hotel is located right in the heart of the city. Most rooms offer great views as the Marriott hotel is 39 floors! The rooms are comfortable and Marriott beds are the best. Breakfast was great as well as roomservice. I believe this is one of the better Marriott hotels in Europe. The only thing I still don't understand is that this ... hotel does not offer free WiFi in the guestrooms. Which I believe is not acceptable anymore in 2015. Free Wifi is only offered in the lobby area. All in all a very good stay, just a shame about the WiFi read hotel review

Very good hotel

I had a 2 night booking but my flight was cancelled, so my stay reduced to 1 night only. I called at 9pm and "do not worry, no problem, see you tomorrow". My Marriott status, real bad weather in Warsaw and other bookings could have influenced it. A great place, incredible corner room. The executive lounge was very good, one of the best and most modern in Europe. Pity it's just on the second floor and not around 35th. Same with the spa/gym (Holmes' Place) in the basement. In the past I had a stay at the nearby Interconti and ... the view from the top was great. Both properties overlooks the palace of Culture. Very good breakfast. I'll return here for sure. read hotel review

Be wary of the taxi drivers outside the hotel!

Be wary of the taxi drivers outside and ensure you know exactly where you want to go. I was on a business trip to Poland recently, my first time in the city, and assumed they were reputable and sanctioned by the hotel. I asked the driver to take me to the address of a club I had found but he took me to another destination. He claimed it was the one I'd requested yet the name was completely different. I didn't know the city and the driver spoke little English so we decided to stick it out and have a ... few drinks. When the bill came we were charged fifty Euros for a few beers. The bouncers then accused us of causing trouble when we politely complained about the exorbitant cost. The following day I found out that the club we originally wanted to go to is still open.Clearly these drivers are taking commission off the back of these hefty bills. If they are not sanctioned by the Marriot then don't let them park outside as it discredits you by associating with these people. This experience marred an otherwise pleasant stay.Sort it out! This wouldn't be allowed to happen at other Marriot Hotels I have stayed at. read hotel review

By all means Marriott remains one of the best 5 star hotels in Warsaw - literally in the heart of the city! Great large rooms with excellent sound proofing, ask for higher floors - you will be amazed by the view of the city! Epic breakfasts - weekend rates are just ridiculous and you can get a great room for less than 70-80 EUR with breakfast for two! read hotel review
