Moevenpick Dead Sea great location and sea access

The hotel is huge. It has a lot of rooms that are en route to the beach. They are villa styles and where we stayed they were just single storey. There were a huge variety of guests including a lot of families with kids. read hotel review
  • Service
    4.0

The service was OK. The check in was a bit slow and as we arrived half an hour early we had to queue up twice (once to check in and once to collect the key), which was not ideal. Upon check out, we also had to wait for our bags to be collected in the buggy. My husband had checked out and called the car and was waiting with our baby whilst I waited in the room for 25 minutes for the bags to be collected. This was frustrating. However, when we requested items (e.g. coffee and a new sheet for our bed after our baby had been sick), they were promptly brought to the room, which was great.

  • Sport & Leisure
    4.0

There were a couple of pools. The main two were extremely busy in the afternoon with lots of children and families. There weren't enough sun loungers available for everyone. By the dead sea there were showers and mud available (although more mud would have been good). It would be great if there was more than one entrance into the sea, as it gets quite crowded in the water around the entrance.

  • Location
    6.0

The location was fantastic and it was wonderful being able to walk straight down to the Dead Sea. It is about an hour from Amman airport. There are no shops close by and it's not really an easy location to walk outside of the hotel as security is quite heavy.

  • Room
    3.0

The room was OK. We had a villa suite so we could have our baby in a cot in the other room. The air conditioner in the living room banged and the air conditioner in the bedroom made a loud noise if it was on higher than low speed. The room was not particularly clean, the toilet smelt like urine and the toilet brush had not been cleaned (ever?!) and was disgusting. The bedroom was relatively clean, as was the lounge room but the kitchen was a bit worn. The mini bar was complimentary but there were only a couple of soft drinks in there. There was a nespresso coffee machine, which was great.

  • Gastronomy
    5.0

The variety of food at breakfast was good. There were many pastries and omelettes available. There was also a good variety of tea. We ordered pizza from the italian restaurant. The vegetable pizza was pretty good and it was reasonably priced.

The final couple of days of our tour of Jordon were supposed to be a relaxing, wonderful experience at the Dead Sea. Yes the hotel is in an amazing location, and the rooms are perfectly respectable (bathrooms are TINY!!) - but if you want good service do not come here. Unfortunately our tour included dinner in the Alsaraya restaurant, and for 2 nights my mother and I were treated to the worst service we have experienced anywhere in the world. Nobody would serve us to begin with, when we did order drinks they either never came (to the extent that ... one night the gentleman on the table next to us took pity on us and gave us his bottle of water) or we're totally wrong, and not giving us change for our bill. The worst was when the waiter had an argument with my mother because we didn't want the table cleared - we were clearly still eating and yet he totally ignored our request and carried on. It was a very unhappy ending to what has been an amazing holiday. Having stayed at the Movenpick Petra for a few days previously, the food at the Dead Sea resort was significantly poorer with a lot less variety. It seems the management really don't care - all they're interested in is your money. read hotel review

Very responding plant in arab style, directly on the dead sea. Impressive main building with a reception, bar and restaurant. Several pools, two so-called 'Infinity pools' with views of the sea. Various snack bars and à-la-carte-restaurants, tennis courts, well appointed fitness centre and spa. The beach area is a bit small - from here you have (a bit arduous) access to the dead sea (always under supervision). Annoying: both on the beach and at the pools there were lots of flies. All in all a very recommendable and nice designed hotel area. read hotel review
