So all of the staff are extremely friendly. We have suspected, that under circumstances around the owner is. The man sits in the lobby; spoke very good english and helps gladly. The woman is for breakfast and cleaned the rooms - she really makes an effort and also very friendly - understood but a word of german or english. There is still another woman, dark hair and husky voice, despite their rough charisma as warm and made an effort.

Were in september 2012 to 5 (5) times. We like it again and again. The owner ( spoke english very well) or a receptionist (speaks good german, english and french) is always alternating, one of two. It is a typical, tuscan family hotel. The breakfast buffet is more than adequate ( for german guests also dark bread ) and also diverse. It is very clean, no matter wether rooms, bath, pool and the beautiful grounds. Towels daily, bed sheets were changed once in the middle of our stay. We stayed there in comfort, breaking up our Italy trip to explore this part of Toscana. Found it perfect and it was one of the gifts befitting our style of travelling a new countryside. You may choose to bathe in the magic of the very early mornings at the borgo and take a photo of yourself grinning in the pool, vineyards and San Gimignano in the background.

We stayed in Il Cardino for 10 nights. The view of countryside is beautiful and the place itself very nice. Big swimming pool with more than enough equipment, steadily cleaned in the late evenings. The whole staff are delightful and very helpful. The room was very clean, the bathroom and shower with all amenities. Choose Il Cardino, if you prefer to visit historical cities (San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, Siena, Pisa etc) placed maximum few tens of kilometers and stay outside the city noise.

Typical of the country lovingly equipped hotel with super neat garden in a relaxed environment and almost absolute peace. The owners and staff of the hotel were always there for us without being pushy. The breakfast buffet was varied. The pool we had sometimes the whole day just for us.
After Castel San Gimignano it was only about 10 minutes footpath. There were 2 bars, a Ristorante and a small store, where everything vital could buy.
Excursions to Florence, Siena and in's Chianti are very recommendable.
