Watch stolen from room by staff member - terrible!

Nothing about this hotel comes remotely close to what one expects when booking a 4 star hotel. *Paper thin walls (we were literally awoken by our neighbor's snoring on night 1) *grossly outdated accommodations (our bed appeared to be a full size mattress, but was two twin beds pushed together to make one bed. Laughable, but it's no joke) *linens that smelled like vinegar (so luxurious!) *scratchy blankets that appear to be pre-war *old, stained carpeting *a staff that is aloof at best and at worst criminal, as we would come to learn as our stay wore on After the ... indignity of three nights in our sub-standard lodging, imagine our horror as we gathered our belongings to check out and realized that my husband's watch was missing. We were checking out on a Saturday morning and he realized that the watch that he had placed on the console table following our Thursday evening dinner wasn't where he had left it. We'd already packed up all of our belongings and went through the room meticulously for 30 minutes to ensure it hadn't simply fallen off the table. We removed all the bed linens, flipped the mattresses, searched under the bed (nothing to be found there other than significant dust and dirt), moved/flipped over all the other furniture and linens before discovering it simply WAS NOT THERE. We went down to the front desk to check out, and by this point I'm already irate but my husband was keen to remain very polite, as he believed this might effectively help in getting the watch returned to us. We very explicitly described the circumstance as we checked out. We requested quite adamantly that a manager reach out to as soon as possible with a resolution as we were certain that the watch had been in the room, and had been removed by someone who had access to our room. We were rushing to catch an international flight, but left full details of the incident, verified that our information that was used to book could be used to reach us (address/email/phone) and were repeatedly assured that a member of management would be in touch with us right away. I waited four days and received no calls, emails or other contact from this "four star" hotel. No apology or resolution. Instead, I called twice before I was able to reach a manager, C. I repeated the story, to which she told me this was the first time she was made aware of it. She put me on hold, and after several long minutes returned to the line noting that she found the watch in the lost and found. When I told her I was confused as to how the watch made it from our room to the lost and found, she simply remained silent. When I asked her why we hadn't been contacted, she stammered out a few unintelligible excuses before stating that they didn't have correct contact information for us, which was simply false. I told her I wanted more information and to have the highly suspicious circumstances investigated further as I was thoroughly unsatisfied. She was quick to tell me that having the watch back was the most important thing (a note she repeated several times), but she finally relented and told me she would look into the situation further and call me back when she had more information. Several more days passed, with no contact from C. or the hotel. I called several times in an attempt to reach her or her boss J. I eventually spoke with another manager, D., and repeated (again!) the whole story to him. D. similarly told me that this is the first he'd heard of our circumstance, despite the fact that he too is a manager. I told him that we were and continue to be unsatisfied and want some answers and further clarification as to how this could happen in their establishment. In particular, we requested a log of all key-card swipes in to our room for the duration of our stay (to determine who exactly accessed our room). I asked D. if this is possible, and he said he believed so. In the context of our conversation, without putting me on hold or gathering any additional information, D. told me that the maid must have found the watch while cleaning after we checked out and that's how it came to be found in the lost and found. I was amazed that even after he admitted that he hadn't heard about our situation, he "magically" knew the circumstances of the disappearance that mitigated the hotel's liability. Everything about the lack of meaningful response from the hotel management is suspicious to me and implies a complicity in criminal actions happening under their roof. I'm still awaiting a resolution, and will get the answers I'm looking for, whether the hotel management cooperates, or whether we have to take criminal or legal action. read hotel review

Human warehouse: recommendation for city tramps

We spent 3 days at the hotel. Had booked 'superior' and were 'upgraded'. That meant a room facing the water (view of the industrial harbor). The windows are limited, being an old warehouse, but very small. Disadvantage: Located directly above the restaurant / bar and correspondingly loud. They were hot summer days, no air conditioning available. The bathroom was old and not 4 *; the room was the smallest on the floor (see evacuation plan in the room). We were disappointed. Due to the high occupation, breakfast was served in the conference room. Offer and quality were okay. - the ... atmosphere was ok. Parking was right outside the door. Parking fee approx. 20 euro per day. Parking ticket had to be paid in advance by credit card at the machine. In the evening, we were an hour late back from dinner and had a big parking ticket - this is not really guest friendly. read hotel review

Excellent listed building in the centre of Copenhagen, it is situation near to the Opera House. Check in was smooth and quick. The rooms are well decorated very elegantly and the rooms have a plasma television and tea and coffee making facilites and very nice bedding. I slept very well that night. Its about 5 min walk to the metro and 10 min walk to the main shopping area of copenhagen. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. read hotel review

A top-hotel away from the hustle and bustle, just behind the famous nyhaven. The hotel offers a very comfortable atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a standard double room facing the street. The room size is adequate and there was plenty of space for suitcases, etc. Only complaint was the lack of shower stall. The breakfast was included in the room rate but unfortunately not included in the price. The price of approximately 20 Euro seems a little high, but it is quite adequate. The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired! I can Hotel Admiral ... thus without doubts to further-recommend. Small tip: a shopping trip with the train into the neighbouring, cheaper Sweden was definitely worth it! read hotel review
