In the immediate area the Budapest main station this stylish hotel in a side street. Admittedly not the nicest corner and just after dark, and a queasy feeling on. The hotel is the outside chic and white on the inside by design to enjoy it. The selection of dishes for breakfast was large and even some Hungarian specialties are. Unfortunately, nearly everything always cold and also the taste was unfortunately to desire. The value for money is nevertheless …  read hotel review

First the good: And train station and subway near the hotel. And the most employees are very friendly. And modern design and facilities. And cleanliness was OK. And now the bad: - money has been from purse, the in a handbag in the closet was, stolen. The manager interested these nothing special. But someone from the housekeeping staff to have been, since nobody else access to the room had. A Scandal for a four-star hotel. Our money we got not again. - Un …  read hotel review

We felt very comfortable at the hotel. Everything was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The way to the metro was short and after 3 stations you were in the city center. A small minus point was the hard mattresses. read hotel review

At first glance the hotel seems modern and welcoming and is clean. There is a reception - you can use the internet free of charge in an internet corner. There's an inner courtyard which is there for smokers' use, a bar and a breakfast area. You get to the rooms with help from 2 lifts - the hotel has 6 floors in total. During our stay there were mostly English guests in the hotel - from young to old...! The hotel offered a breakfast buffet - there was no other dishes. read hotel review

The hotel is on a side street and it was relatively quiet. The Westbahnhof and the metro (2 minutes) were in the immediate vicinity Also nearby (1 minute) there was a supermarket and a number of fast food restaurants. The stop of the hop-on-hop-off-buses (Grand Hungarian Hotel) was in 10 minutes by foot. If you want to eat typical Hungarian food in the evening then you have to go out again and look, restaurants were scarce around the hotel. So either go a few stops on the metro to find something or 10-15 minutes by foot. I can recommend the 'Huszar' restaurant (directions at the front desk) - good prices, delicious food and super nice service. We liked it so much that we soon went back a 2nd time - on the 2nd evening there was even live music - absolutely great.

  • Service
    3.0

The ladies at reception spoke English and were, depending on who was on duty from friendly to very rude and informative and willing. The unwillingness of the staff in the breakfast area was clear to see, and the speed of the service was accordingly slow. Occasionally we had to wait for a table in the morning, the hotel was full and the breakfast area too small, in order to accommodate the guests. The rooms were cleaned daily and the towels were changed. What we've never experienced before is having to leave behind a deposit to the tune of 50 euro. It's possible that there are guests who don't know how to behave and wreck their hotel room, but as a start to our holiday we thought it was quite alienating.

  • Gastronomy
    4.0

There was a bar where all the different drinks were offered for modest prices. The breakfast area was, as already mentioned, too small to accommodate the guests with a fully booked hotel. The breakfast buffet was designed for the English guests - scrambled eggs, fried eggs, French toast, sausages, jam, muesli, cold cuts and cheese. Otherwise, different salads, yogurt etc. OK choice - but the same thing every day. The coffee wasn't anything special and came from machines (different coffee 'specialities' - espresso, moccha, latte) - but tasted bad and also only half a small cup per push of the button...! The most annoying thing above all was the broken toaster - the handle had to be held down and didn't stay down...some guests complained...nothing happened. The waitresses seemed annoyed, but kept the dining area clean.

  • Room
    3.0

The room on the 4th floor towards the inner courtyard was quiet, but had a view onto a wall. ;o ( The room was very small and offered little storage space. The bathroom was also small, had a full-length shower, the door was about 5 centimeters too small (gap between the door and wall?!) the room was equipped with a bed (1,40m) closet, desk, chair, fridge, air conditioning and safe. The room was relatively clean - but could have been cleaner.

Hotel is in no way a higher category and i don't know how a rating from 4 * to be achieved, rather 3 stars is ok. Breakfast is plentiful, but partly reheated from the day before. The cutlery is supposidly from the 'old' times, is also not a category of an upscale hotel. I was disappointed. read hotel review
