Actually there should be a diving vacation will, but unfortunately the diving station already a year ago closed. The rooms are clean, furniture could however may be replaced. Staff are very friendly, complaints are taken serious. The buffet food was okay, the Italian restaurant we can't recommend, but the French. We chose to stay here because they had a Certificate of Excellence 2014-I have no idea where this ever came from! They are not 4 star for sure-Very few staff can speak poor English-Customer Service manager speaks next to no English. We changed rooms 4 times! On arrival we were given a room on the bottom floor in the Mares side, which was filthy dirty with stained bedding and furniture, mildew and very musty so much that one would have trouble breathing. 2nd room was not much better; 3rd room-the lock brook and after waiting over 1/2 hour, we were ... given another room-which was just ok. Food is terrible and there was great deal of cross contamination, especially between raw chicken and while the chef took it to the grill to be cooked, it was carried over other food and meat, while dripping raw chicken juices all over the other food. As previous people reported, we were sick the 2nd day with diarrhea until we left. When it was brought to the attention of customer service they said it could not be the resorts fault but just a change of diet. That is nonsense, especially when we did our own survey and 7 out 10 people in the resort were ill. There is a strong lack of hygiene, in the dinning areas, the bar, the restrooms and there are no paper towels or air dryers to dry your hands after using the washroom. The maintenance of the hotel itself is very poor. Water standing in puddles on the slippery ceramic tiles in the hallways of the hotel, are only waiting for a disaster to happen. Painting could be done to clean it up, but it appears no maintenance is done. Broken steps and walls exposed due to no maintenance. The pro I can think of is the beautiful beach, but again there is very little maintenance and care done on the beach. And the other pro is Jenny at the Pool Bar.what a wonderful person-so caring! the hotel was very large and spread out, for ourselves it was no problem but I would imagine a bit of a problem for older/disabled people. The food was OK but got boring after the first few days,maybe change of menu on a weekly basis might help. The staff were very friendly and helpful from the tour rep to the beach guys. I found that the male bar staff were a bit choosey always serving the young girls first no matter how long others had waited(to be expected maybe). The rooms were of a good standard with every thing ... you would need safe coffee machine tv iron and ironing board towels etc. I would recommend the Mares side of the hotel as that's where every thing is from nightly entertainment to restaurants it would save a bit of a walk. The tours on offer are good and have English speaking staff. The pick up/drop off went very well as did the checking and out the only delays were at customs/immigration both coming in and out of the airport again to be expected. read hotel review

The beach was just the best - in the restaurant and at the buffet everyone will find something that is tasty. The staff was friendly and multi-lingual. Every evening entertainment and also during the day something for everyone. read hotel review

We were now the 3. the mares, as always very satisfied. We had the 3 time on e-mail request the same room. For regular guests, very hard, as well as for all other guests. Which i still have to complain about, the fruit and salads at the buffet. Otherwise the buffet mostly on Canada and England laid out, but something finds to everyone for itself. It is, if you fresh fish or meat like, to the live grill's and a little fresh can. I preferred to the grillmeistern to say, mach me anything from fresh fish or meat, prawns etc. ... The delight of the employees was very large and my pleasure over the successful plates as well. Side dishes there was enough. Highly recommended is the small beach bar La Nina, we have these for lunch as well as made. On the menu standards such as burgers, etc. Ask for fresh fish and don't let yourself a bit of their own. The chefs are magicians and do it with love. Thanks it with a little tip, not every day. Especially the chefs even personally praise. One sees only in happy faces. The standard staff immediately gave us recognized and now i must shift to other nationalities. If you are not canadians like, you have options to argue. The staff of these so badly treated and the staff must defend, so what we have done and it was again the next day from the staff thanked. I have certainly not prejudice against other nationalities, but in this case Cuba for Canada as Majorca for german. No respect for humanity and the work they do. Warm thanks here to yosumi, Ivan Jose, Katy, praxides, rubisel and many more. The lobby is beautifully arranged, as well as the gardens with its always hard working gardeners also times over a beer there. The rooms are dated but very functional and spacious. The bathrooms were partly renovated and everything was clean and was to our best contentment. The beach was for us the absolute insanity. Over a few stages one arrives directly there and it is always clean and tidy. He is the only mares and Luna use it. On the weekends it can be a few locals there, otherwise it is only for the hotel and thought the outside not accessable. If you want to, i can only a hot tip: ask for Juan the taxi driver, he runs a giftgrünen illuminate chevy Belair bj. 52, the hotel is well-known and reputable. We stayed with him a lot and it is more authentic than over a travel agency the more expensive and impersonal. If it does, tell him greetings from Tina and ben. It will be to remember. It is the Columbus bay from another light show or friends by it on a farm with horse riding etc. Ask at the front desk for him. The hotel itself i give 5 suns because of the above mentioned drawbacks. Not because of the staff or the service. read hotel review

    The service i've already described above, very courteous, always friendly and for 2 cuc salary on the day, every about a small tip. With 30 working days are the 60 cuc payday (45 Euro). Complaints are dealt with immediately.

From Luna this is a way of up to 10 minutes The hotel has already several times reconditioned, one sees his age to. A grundsanierung would be essential, in particular the air conditioning. However it's all clean, well maintained and okay. The canadians form the largest part of the tourists, followed by british, german and other nations.     All-inclusive buffet restaurant: not very varied, but adequate. I had a larger selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, salad desired (in a tropical country i expect more than melon, papaya and banana. Onions, for example, there was for the first time in the middle of our 2. week, pineapple not). Cuisine is international-canadian, for my taste and boringly spiced. The à-la-carte restaurants (three of four visited, only two per week bookable) are ok. Tips were gladly taken (of which lives the staff for the most part), but not expected. Also without tips there were super friendly service.

    Major advantage is the really honest and friendly friendliness of the entire staff! Hence the many regular guests in the hotel, which therefore very comfortable. The staff spoke enough english, some also german (especially at the reception). Daily room cleaning. Children are (not in the nebensaison) in the mini-club. Doctor daily mornings as, otherwise a krankneschwester, the medicines can be spent on.

    Entertainment: if you want to take part, with. But never intrusive. Standard sports activities (beach volleyball, air gun, water polo, but also dance course). On the beach, free kayaks, pedal boats, windsurfers ausgeliehne will, also catamaran skippered.     We had standard the garden (also nice: on the bay of naranja ). Cleanliness was okay, but we had several roaches. A tip from old-timers; in the bathroom never mind, then they stay in their hide. The rooms are big enough, the furniture but somewhat zusammengetoppelt, sufficiently cloakroom or kleideraufhängen is not. Coffee maker, refrigerator, television (on german only Deutsche Welle, football in the mexican espn channel in spanish), safe, balcony. The rooms are probably already been renovated, but you can see their age. We had two single beds, a mattress was quite worn out. We booked through a room change two rooms, both had a strange smell. My wife got an allergy (possibly air conditioning?).

    The hotel is situated on a really beautiful sandy beach, about 60 kn from the airport holguin. After guardalavaca it was about 4 kilometer, except for another hotel in the neighborhood nothing (no shops, bars, restaurants...) To find. It runs once a daily bus to holguin and back, in the morning also several ofener hop-on, hop-off bus to guardalavaca, the other hotels in the area starts. Some small shops in the hotel.

Maximum 3 stars! The hotel lives off of the location (Playa Esmeralda!) , the good service and the Cuba good quality of the dishes. In the international comparison but not recommended. Hotel is in need of renovation! read hotel review

The hotel is two hotels brought together: The great mares and fixer-upper, or order in renovation of the luna. (renovations will be discreet and done well) The hotel has a nice size, it is however not too big, that you get lost could. The hotel isn't in a new, but a good condition. About the cleaning it does not lack. The cleaning staff were constantly on the legs and on the way. In the ground floor you can still from and to the one or other cockroach find. Wireless internet does not exist, you can cost over hotel-own computers in ... the lobby to the internet, speed for cuban standards: good. Price with 4 cuc per half hour normal. All-inclusive property around the hour snacks and wide selection of drinks. As rumliebhaber i count times only the free rummarken on Havana Club, ron Santiago de Cuba, cubay, santero and mulata. There is also a huge selection of rumlikören. So many german we had never in Cuba in the hotel, guest structure: 50% canadians, many germans, some british, cubans, italians, a few argentine. read hotel review

    To the beach one must only the stairs down: the beach at the mares is wonderful, the luna it is rocky and the luxury hotel next door is the beach at the worst. Here you can but the best snorkelling. You can but also as a guest of the luna y mares back. The distance to the airport Frank Pais, holguin is approximately 50 kilometer, the bus, taxi: 1 hour To the next town guardalavaca is 2 kilometer, there, there are practically nothing, what it not in the hotel there is...
