The Lago Di Gards hotel is an exceptional hotel measured not only against the area but widely in Europe and USA. I would pay particular praise to the reception staff who were knowledgeable, eager to listen to our points of view, considerate, kind and eager for us to have a good stay. The rooms were very clean and unusually roomy. The bed was queen size and very comfortable. I would go back to lake Gards and the specific hotel. Well done to all the staff, Pano and Lynda Kordosis, UK. read hotel review

Breathtaking views from a very good hotel

The hotel façade is a mixture of old and new, the original building having been extended to the front to provide a restaurant with excellent views of the lake and mountains, a few lake view rooms above and a terrace for the exclusive use of 4 rooms (Favola) on the second floor. It has a very warm, relaxed style and the staff could not be more welcoming and helpful dealing with every query or request with a bright smile and a willing demeanour. Overall we found it to be excellent value for money. read hotel review
  • Gastronomy
    6.0

Breakfast in the Aqua restauraunt, in terms of range and quality is amongst the best I have experienced anywhere and I have travelled the Globe, including some of the most prestigious cruise lines where food is a key determinant. The only slight criticism is that the fried eggs were over-done / congealed having been cooked all together in one batch. Making fried eggs available is always a challenge in such a restaurant. One way to deal with it is to continually 'patrol' the serving dish and to re-stock with a few eggs at a time and frequently. Another is to have a chef on hand to do fried eggs to order - but both are resource-intensive undertaking. Perhaps it might be better not to offer this choice at all as the result detracts from an otherwise absolutely outstanding offering. We had one evening meal in the Aqua restaurant ( which is closed on Mondays). This too was first class. The menu was varied and interesting (including wild boar pate, and papardelle with a venison sauce). The staff were friendliness itself and our waiter was welcomingly informative in his guidance on the food and wine choices. A memorable evening. In my opinion, Italian food in Italy cannot be beaten and this was a fine example of that.

  • Sport & Leisure
    4.0

I had hoped that the advertised 'Wellness Spa' included a gym and sauna etc but this is not the case. Although disappointing it is not too serious a drawback - especially in a hotel claiming four stars. There is no pool.

  • Service
    6.0

Service, could not have been better. Again, everything done with a willing smile from an obviously well-trained team. Nothing was too much trouble and the room servicing staff were also very unobtrusive and efficient

  • Location
    6.0

Location, Location, location. The old maxim always holds true and no more so in the setting for this hotel which is in a fairy tale spot, on the waterfront, nestled at the foot of the Dolomites and with breathtaking views over the lake to the very dramatic mountain faces on the far side. It is at the North Eastern corner of the lake which, in my opinion, is far more preferable to the hustle and bustle of the South. Waking up in the morning and watching the fishermen go out in their small boats on a glass lake was simply idyllic and it is worth choosing this hotel for that experience alone. Torbole is a compact, picturesque and relatively unspoilt little town packed with excellent restaurants and bars. It is very conveniently situated also for access to the bicycle / foot path which leads to Riva Del Garda, a 55 min walk away. The hotel is also only a couple of hundred meters away from the Torbole ferry terminal where the ferryman provides excellent assistance in very good English and German. A great day out is to be had taking the Fast Catameran / Hydrofoil service which ply the full length of the lake. The only drawback is that there is a road on the hotel's doorstep which can become very busy and noisy at times. However the room we had had good double glazing which masked most of it (but left us quite warm as the air-conditioning is inhibited at this time of year (May). We had a hire car to travel from Verona airport which is a relavely simple 50 minute drive, most of which on the Autostrada, but we never took the car out of the car park until we left again.

  • Room
    5.0

We had a lake view room and the view did not disappoint. The room was, spacious and well-appointed although there are some signs of wear and tear ( chipped furniture, chipped basin and cracked bathroom floor tiles. A refurbishment is probably overdue. Owing to the noise from the road, we had to close all windows and the room became uncomfortably hot because, according to hotel staff, the local municipal regulations do not allow operation of air conditioning this early in the year although, oddly, heating is enabled. The décor is modern and stylish and the bed is large and very comfortable. We slept like logs. Remarkably, my wife even slept soundly. She often finds it difficult to sleep away from home!

We were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony and view of the bay, and we were blown by how magical it was. The room was quite large and open, and cleaned very well every morning, with fresh towels provided, along with shower gells and shampoos. The shower itself was wonderful, and the in room safe was very handy.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and our room was always tidied and cleaned to the highest standards. The breakfast service was also outstanding with a great selection to choose from. The reception staff were keen to help us with directions of places we wanted to visit.

Although Torbole itself is quite a small town, other than wind surfing activities, the hotel was central for the views and aforementioned water activities. Torbole is also only a short drive from Verona which was a great day out, as well as various ferry rides available.
