Great choice for a stopover at AKL airport

Very impressed with this airport hotel, which is far better than the average airport hotel. Not one of the major chains but still very professionally run. Modern concrete style hotel, but not unattractive, and also not overly large. read hotel review
  • Sport & Leisure
    4.0

The hotel has a small training room which has weights as well as 4 machines (cycle, rowing machine, running machine and step machine). The hotel also has an agreement with a local gym so that hotel guests can use proper gym, with the hotel also providing transport to the gym.

  • Gastronomy
    5.0

The restaurant was open early for breakfast (which I think continues until 1100),with the restaurant staff also being friendly and attentive. Choices for breakfast were an express breakfast, a continental breakfast (NZD 22) or a full hot+cold breakfast (NZD 27). Some healthy choices on the menu for breakfast, including spirulina smoothies and dried fruits. A little more fresh fruit would be welcome though.

  • Service
    5.0

Pick up was rapid, within about 5 minutes and the van driver (Nabbi) was both friendly and extremely informative about the hotel and its services. Reception staff were friendly and efficient, both on check-in and during the stay, and wait times at reception were minimal. Restaurant staff were also friendly and attentive, another sign of a well-run hotel.

  • Room
    6.0

The bedroom was immaculate, and the housekeeping section had done a fantastic job of both the bedroom and the bathroom. Tea & coffee facilities in the room, as well as a stocked minibar, and a folder with hotel information. It was VERY good that the hotel has a list of the TV channels, which saves the usual surfing of every channel to find the one that you actually want. Free wifi is limited to 2GB per 24 hours, something to watch if your computer decides to do a lot of updates suddenly. The bed and matrass was excellent, and the sheets extremely clean. Obviously the housekeeping in this hotel is well on top of the task.

The hotel was quiet, and as it is about 8 minutes drive from the airport, then you are far enough away not to notice aircraft noise. Location is not so convenient, as there are almost no shops nearby but as a place to sleep before/after a flight then it is a great choice.

I had a very short stay here (between about midnight and 5am) before flying out for an international flight. This is generally my second choice Airport hotel after the Novotel, which is a much better (and closer) option. The Jet Park is quite a distance from the airport and requires a shuttle. I had no issues with the shuttle on this occasion, but have in the past. The room was quite old and tired, with basically bare concrete block walls. The bed wasn't great quality and I didn't get a great sleep. Would recommend the Novotel, but if it's not ... available or too expensive this is a pretty cheap alternative. read hotel review

Brief and uneventful stay at short notice

Stayed here for one night after a late international arrical from Fiji caused me to miss my connecting domestic flight. Upon landing I jumped online, and after seeing that Novotel Auckland Airport was fully booked I boked here for a decent price given how late it was. We weren't sure where the free shuttle picked people up from so we took a short taxi to the hotel. Check-in was fine and very freindly. After a long day of travelling we fell into bed and woke up to our early morning alarm, so we have no complaints about the beds. We ... timed our departure perfectly with the free shuttle that goes every thirty minutes to the airport, which fortunately goes to the domestic terminal first. Would happily stay here agin if in a similar situation; given a choice i'd still go with the Novotel right next to the international terminal. read hotel review

Stayed here for one night after my flight was cancelled and I couldn't get into the much closer (and much better) Novotel Auckland Airport. Fortunately I was only there for around 8 hours so slept most of the time. I had a brief look at the restaurant menu, but it was all fairly basic and nothing looked particularly appetising. I have had issues in the past with their shuttle service, so on this occasion I gave myself plenty of time - they leave every half hour so I gave myself another half hour to make sure I made it. Murphy's ... Law - it ran like clockwork and I got to the airport really rather early. Probably the best stay i've had there. But if you can, stay at the Novotel. read hotel review

Delayed flight so only here for a few hours

While I usually stay here on work trips, my partner and I booked here for one night as my usual choice (the Novotel) was too expensive. As we were only due to be in Auckland for a night, we decided against booking in town. As it turned out, our international flight was quite late getting into Auckland (2am rather than 10pm) so we were only at the hotel for less than 4 hours before our domestic flight. Staff at check-in were very friendly, and I think pitied us and gave us a slightly bigger room. The rooms was similar to ... those of stayed in before - same bare walls, but was fine when we were just sleeping. Shuttle back to the airport the next morning was fine; the driver was a real character. read hotel review

Stayed here for one night when my usual airport hotel of choice (Novotel, which is right next to the international terminal) was totally booked up. Was at the hotel for about twelve hours, which in hindsight was too long and I should have delayed my departure from the central city. The bare concrete block walls in the rooms are quite depressing after a while. Slept bsolutely fine. I have had issues with the transport from here to the airport before, but no problems on this occasion. As the hotel is not walking distance, you need to get a shuttle. It ... was prompt and friendly (and free). Didn't eat here as I have lounge access at the airport; the restaurant looked ok though. Would stay here again, but not my first choice. read hotel review

A distance from the airport, ok if no other option

Stayed here at late notice for one night as i needed a hotel near the airport for an early departure, and my usual airport hotel was booked up. The first thing to note about this hotel is it's not really all that close to the airport. There's no way you could walk the distance, and you need to rely on their (free) shuttle every 30 minutes. More on that later. The Novotel and the Ibis are walking distance and are proper airport hotels. Check-in was no problem at all; they asked what time I wanted a wake-up call and I ... was in my room within a few minutes of arriving at the hotel. The rooms are fine, a good size, but a bit dated. My bed was a bit on the small side. Fortunately I was only there a few hours, I think it'd be a pretty depressing place to spend an evening. Check-out was no problem at all. The guy on the desk was very friendly, noting that he'd checked me in the night before, just a few hours (literally) before. Then we had a bit of a problem. I'd let them know the night before which shuttle i'd need to catch my domestic flight. Unfortunately when it came to boarding, the bus didn't start. We were stuck there for 10-15 minutes while they tried the bus, and then looked for another. Fortunately I didn't miss my flight, but I would have had they taken another 10 minutes. Would I stay here again? It wouldn't be my first choice, but it's tolerable for a few hours. read hotel review
