Hotel is all in all nice. Actually exclusively german holiday-makers, all a very good wire to owner Anke had. We were the youngest with 22 years... Friendliness of the staff, beauty of the location and surroundings, beach etc. (which very often praised) is, of course, everything was ok and available, but not so as it is if you by the comments here flashed is. Accordingly we were rather a bit disappointed on the first day (see afterwards as well). …  read hotel review

Simple, clean, middle size hotel with great views, with rich breakfast buffet and excellent service. Multinational guests & staff makes everyone feel welcome. New managers, Casia & Ingo have a great knowledge about the area and what is worth to see, to visit, to do. We didn not need any extra guide books. read hotel review

Rooms are middle size, rather cosy, basic furniture, with big wardrobe. Big beds are super-comfy. Besides hot shower and cleanness - we did not need anything more. We don't go for holiday to sit in the hotel ;)

in the hotel there is no swimming pool. But the beach is close. Guests can bicycles with map and all necessary tips and this is unique in the whole area. Our plan for next time!

Great place to start exploring the island. Archeological sites, beaches, mountains, beautifull villages - all around agia Galini, and when we just wanted to rest and have lazy time - from the hotel there is ca.200m to the beach. The same to the village center, with all those cafes & tavernas.

  • Gastronomy

Breakfast buffet can make everyone happy. They can also serve gluten-free stuff and lactose-free. Fresh, simple, local.. and a lot of it. Great coffee from proper coffee-machine is what makes my day

Staff is friendly, multi-lingual and really competent. They answered every our question, they provide all info, besides holidays & having fun, also about medical service in the village, atm's, buses, laundry service, etc. Rooms are clean & fresh.

Run by Kasia and Ingo, who offer help what’s worth seeing around and any information about the village and living in Crete and serve great breakfast. Perfect place for an active holiday. Amazing place I would recommend to anyone who want to get a taste of real Crete experience. Agia Galini – lovely small village, far from loud and crowded touristic locations in the North of the Island, offers though everything tourist may need to spend a wonderful week or two: beautiful surroundings of mountains and valleys, to be accessed by foot or bikes, beaches, great views, but also tavernas and all kind of facilities to make you feel well.

Galini Mare which is run by amazing owners - Kasia and Ingo is a perfect place to stay. Either you come alone or with a couple of friends you won't get bored for a minute. The hotel is situated near the sea so the room views are breath-taking. In the mornings there is always a variety of greek specialities which I reccomend trying, especially greek youghurt with mousli and honey. If you want to sightsee ask Kasia for help and she will give you all the important clues. I truelly recommend Galini Mare hotel and Agia Galini itself. I had ... a great time! read hotel review

Since a few month now the hotel is in new hands. It is run by a young energetic and very service friendly couple. The hotel is specialised to accommodate hikers and touring bicyclists, either in groups or on their own. Whether you are a professional sportsman or a relaxed hiker, you will feel at home in this welcoming hotel. It is clean spacious and at the same time cosy, the rooms as well as the breakfast area. Bicycles you can be hired in the hotel and these are kept in top condition by the home mechanic. The rooms have views ... either at a pleasant garden courtyard or alternatively they have a stunning views over the Libyan Sea. The hotel is large, but basic. It is perched on the cliff top with great views over the bay and harbour. It is far enough from the centre of the village to quiet, but no problem to be there if you want. This is particularly important for our stay as they did not do evening meals, so we went to the village every evening to eat. We bought a package that included evening meals and went to different restaurants every evening. fantastic! The Hotel is newly revamped and the staff react to every comment you give them. It was clean ... and well run. New beds and décor was great, although basic it had a nice professional feel. The hotel is run by the same company that runs Crete Cycling, so if you are interested in cycling it is a great place to go for early or late season training with a professional coach. Food. wow, what a surprise. Not only was it great but coped with one of our party who was gluten intolerant with no problem. read hotel review

Hotel description

  • What the hotel offers
Galini Mare Hotel is simple, but comfortable cretan hotel with the most spectacular seaview and charming patio with mediterranean garden. Far from mainstream and mass tourism, between sea and mountains in unspoilt South of Crete. Unique location allows to combine leisure with activities and sightseeing: nearby beaches, mountains, gorges, quiet villages and archaeological sites. In Galini Mare Hotel we present our guests values and qualities which we found and enjoy here: slow-life philosophy, good food, local charms and active tourism. We speak English, German, Polish.
  • Location
Galini Mare is located at the main road in Agia Galini, on the cliff. Just when you enter the village on the left side. Simple-looking cube-shaped hotel in light-lemon color hides inner garden where small passage leads on the other side, to seaside alley. In fact it is a big C-shaped building, inspired maybe by minoan Knossos Palace. In front of the Hotel there is a public bus stop and our small parking, to the village center - just 200-300m, the same to the beach and towards picturesque hills with farms, orange trees and olive groves.
  • Accommodation
From seaview rooms you can enjoy 180 degrees panorama: from snow-capped Psiloritis through infinite blue of the sea and sky till village harbour where statues of mythological architect Daedalus and his son remind us about the power of dreams, imagination and wisdom. Rooms opened to the garden give shadow and scents of mediterranean garden: mix of lemon tree, orange tree, carob tree, olive tree, herbs like rosemary, mint, basil and colorful flowers. Rooms are simple and cosy, each with bathroom, beds are comfortable (1.6m wide, semi-hard mattress). We clean rooms daily except Sundays, bed linens is changed twice a week, towels - every second day. WI-FI is free.
  • Food and Drink
We serve breakfast buffet, where you can find all ingredients to prepare your favourite morning set: from typical like muesli, jams, greek yogurt, milk, cheese plates and cold cuts plates, to some local delights like tahini, olives, different greek sheep & goat cheese, local seasonal fruits and veggies and cretan honey and local herbal teas. Fresh herbs come from our garden.
  • Leisure
The Hotel is connected with Crete Cycling Bikestation. Spring time: February - April we have cycling training camps, all year long we rent out high class road bicycles and MTB and other sport & cycling equipment. We do not have pool in the hotel, refreshment & shadow you can find in our mediterranean inner garden. To get to the sea it's only ca. 200m. Besides cycling and swimming, you can find here perfect conditions for jogging, hiking, trekking.
  • Other facilities and services
Besides renting bicycles, we can advise you with all necessary tips about local highlights, events, cultural and archaeological sites. Any question or request you have, we try our best to support you - from any kind of advice, planning tours and trips, helping to rent a car till contact a doctor if necessary.
