Official description for the Clarion Collection Hotel Havnekontoret

Clarion Collection Hotel Havnekontoret

Beneath the shadow of the Bergen Mountain range and as the west coast winds sweep off the sea, this old Hanseatic trading town is the dramatic home to an up market boutique hotel. Opened in 2006, this vintage stone building from the 1920's is situated on the quayside and was once the original Customs House. During the substantial renovations aimed at modernising the facilities, all efforts were made to preserve the historic building’s Neo classic features and Baroque influences from 1919. The 116 charming guest rooms are soundproofed and the soft shades of the chocolate brown textures, floor to ceiling drapes, original granite staircase are all in tune with the historic nature of the building. The large stylish lounge includes an English and Norwegian library, while the rooftop outlook offers spectacular views over the harbour. Bryggen is the name of Bergen’s historic old wharf and Bergen’s most famous attraction. This is the exciting central location for the elegant Clarion Collection Hotel Havnekontoret. Bryggen is now a famous UNESCO world heritage site.

Fashionable elegance in an informal setting with the best location in town. In the heart of Bergen’s historic harbour front district lies one of the city’s most imposing buildings. With the best location in town and housed in elegant, Neo Baroque architecture, Hotel Havnekontoret is Bergen’s newest and most fashionable hotel.
