The hotel in general
We are an English couple running a small friendly Gasthof where we welcome visitors from all over the world. We have specific facilities for bikers, hikers, and those who enjoy outdoor activities and winter sports. We have 22 rooms (49 beds) and can take groups of up to 40 or so, including parking space for a bus. We offer B & B and Half Board as well as specific packages for groups. We are part of the Hohe Tauern National Park Card Scheme offering excellent reductions on a range of activities and attractions.
Hotel location
We are based in the Malta Valley in Upper Carinthia in Austria's sunny southernmost province. We are 90 minutes from Salzburg, less than an hour from both the Italian and Slovenian borders and easily accessible by road, rail and air.
Service at the hotel
We offer great facilities for those wanting a base to explore this wonderful area and its surroundings - for bikers there is undercover parking, a small workshop area (and expertise) and a range of downloadable routes for Garmin or tanktop versions for non Sat Nav users. All outdoor people will appreciate our large drying space. Car park. Garden. Free Wi-Fi & internet access point. National Park Cards for guests staying 2 nights or more.
Gastronomy in the hotel
We have a 60 seater resturant & bar and provide good simple food from a range of influences both local and international and made with high qualit local ingredients. Guinness & Kilkenny and Single Malt scotch figure high on out drinks list! We LOVE BBQs!
Sports, entertainment and pool in the hotel
Free use of large garden. Free use of the local outdoor pool with the National Park Card. Access to a range of sporting and outdoor activity providers bookable from here.

Bad attitude by management!
Poor food quality!
No Towels changed eventhgough used ones left on floor.
Bed Linen Old and Shody!
No TV in Bed rooms!

We met Ros and John at the Bike Show and were impressed with their friendliness and knowledge of the local area. We were not dissappointed - we received a very warm welcome (and a cold beer!) - lots of great advice about the best biking roads - sat nav routes (which they even downloaded onto our GPS while we had breakfast!).
Our room was spotless, comfortable and had great views.
Breakfast was the usual continental style buffet, which was good quality.
