The hotel in general
The Gennarini family has run Hotel Alessandra since 1970. The Hotel is situated in Borgo SS. Apostoli, one of the museum-streets of the city centre.
The hotel is on the second floor of a palace built in 1507 by Baccio D'Agnolo (one of the leading florentine architects and a contemporary of Michelangelo).
Those who come to visit will find a quiet and hospitable atmosphere. Located in the heart of the most romantic part of Florence, the "cradle of the renaissance", next to the Uffizi Gallery and a few steps away from Ponte Vecchio, it is within easy walking distance of every point of artistic, cultural and economic interest.
Hotel location
If you want a hotel in downtown Florence, near the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio, then look no further than the Hotel Alessandra. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a friendly atmosphere, just a few steps away from the beautiful Piazza Signoria, with the replica statue of David by Michelangelo.
The hotel is halfway between Via dei Tornabuoni, a street lined with designer shops and boutiques, and the Ponte Vecchio, a bridge filled with incredible gold shops; both are less than 50 meters away. The Uffizi, arguably one of the finest art galleries in the world, the famous Duomo and Bell Tower, Piazza Repubblica, and the Baptistery are all within a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. For a different shopping experience, visitors can reach the "Straw Market", known as "Il Porcellino" (The Little Pig). Here you will find many local artisans with a variety of unique products, including items made of the famous Florentine leather.
For travellers who wish to explore more of Tuscany, Florence is an ideal base for excursions to Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano, and Fiesole. Personalize your vacation with a cooking class specializing in authentic Tuscan cuisine, a tour through the hills of the Chianti region to local wineries and quaint towns, or a day trip to outlet malls for the most prestigious Italian designer shops.
