The place is living off its location right on the beach and in the centre of sitges. However it has the charm of a school bathroom 70er years. Unfortunately not in the bathrooms itself, the extremely small.
The room is functional but without any comfort factor furnished.
My room had felt 15 °C and was apparently not more heated since months. The window could not be closed completely, as the sash windows were smaller than the window.
Conclusion: one is glad, if one the beautiful surroundings of the hotel enjoy can. Read more

A great hotel right on the beach, have already chosen the hotel for the second time due to location, but only night, as our breakfast relatively expensive and is entitled to breakfast is rather french scale (why it is decided to expensive). Breakfast is it alternatives in the area in crowds. Hotel location can not better be. June 2009 it was very hot, but the air conditioning was quiet and if in the night there was need for air conditioning, had no influence on the switch on the night's sleep.
In the carob night we have hardly sleep a wink..... Read more

Surely one of the best hotels in sitges-but also one of the more expensive... We had half board, the dinner was in menu form, two dishes to choose from. high quality and beautiful presented. The room were very well appointed. Complaints (broken air conditioning, broken Birmen) were removed within minutes. The underground parking for 25 Euro/day is quite expensive. Trips to Barcelona are a must. The beach is clean (2 beach chairs with umbrella 18 Euro/day). On the promenade in the old town and you will find also good bars/restaurants, this is... Read more

For the fifth time we are in Cali polis. The service (reception, breakfast) has the same staff strongly improved! Air conditioning worked very well, there was a safe in the room is free of charge usable, bathroom is big enough, very large balcony (7. Floor). The breakfast is tidy and, finally, to eleven hours daily, not only on weekends. Unfortunately the two German television channels RTL and sat 1 two only sometimes, otherwise only Spanish, Italian programs and CNN, BBC. Despite the improvements in the price is still on the ceiling (200 eu... Read more

The Calipolis is a medium-large, modern and renovated hotel in a great location. It's very orderly and attractively arranged - certainly fits its four stars. The guests are about 80% homosexual (something I didn't know beforehand), such that other guests are automatically considered the same. There are guests from every country, but mostly from Germany and England.
The rooms are very large, roomy, and have everything you need. The rooms in the front have a balcony and direct view of the sea. There was no problem with noise, though it ... Read more

Hotel in general

Being close to the sea and beach was one thing we really wanted, and this hotel looked like the best on the sea front, but now I'd much rather stay a few minutes walk from the beach in a nicer (and frankly cheaper) hotel, and this is in fact what we did after 3 nights at the Calipolis.

Hotel has a great location BUT that really doesnt mean you can overlook the fact that the rooms need to be updated and during my stay no internet was available as their WI-FI system was down and all available was a single desktop downstairs which was busy most of the time.

The hotel is lovely in a beautiful location We stayed on the 6th floor on the front corner-overlooking the sea and town The room was spacious with a huge bed- OK was 2 large singles but extremely comfortable and clean Bathroom was modern with good choice of toiletries I think for this time of year its a bit on the expensive side but its a 4 star hotel without doubt Some people now over expect We had breakfast each day which was served in a beautiful light dining room on the first floor overlooking the promenade and included a fantastic selection of hot and cold foods including cake, wine, etc etc We had a meal in the hotel dining room which was OK. - in October 09
The room was spacious (as was the bathroom) -- but everything was a bit tired and in need of a new coat of paint.

Take a tired old 70's hotel, add some trendy bits to bring it up to date in the mid-90's, add some essential safety features such as fire doors & lifts because you have to by law but with little or no sympathy to the style / decor / feel of the place, keep the same grumpy old staff that have been on site forever and are clearly tired and bored of the hospitality business, some cleaners who need glasses, paper thin walls, and an incredibly loud nightclub in the basement and you have the Calipolis!

In all fairness, the hotel was just really basic and not really sure what market it was trying to attract but I feel the need to be harsh as the web-site makes it look really quite nice and charges for a 4* place when it's massively overpriced for the Travelodge style thin walls and basic ammenities. - in July 10
The walls are thin, the furnishings are warn and dated, the staff was average to rude.
