The price (I paid about $70/night) was a good price for the location, but the room was like an early 1970s motel: very small, manual air conditioner, thin walls, tiny bathroom, old television with about 20 channels, no pool, etc. - in April 10
Good price--GREAT LOCATION!

5 one way and do ask for courtesy transfer ticket (good for 2 hours), the hotel staff will give you the map and tell you about the stops (half block to a block away), plenty of 7/11 style grocery stores, most numerous ones are the abc stores, while they take debit, for bigger shoppings, go to food pantry 10 minutes away, they do $40 cash back if you want to save the ATM fees, because it is practically surrounded by many other bigger hotels, the area is well and safely trafficked well into the night, even past midnight, I do see locals chaining their scooters, the parking is tricky, road side parking nearby from 6 pm to 7 am, or you can pay for the parking in the nearby zoo/public parking (1 block), the building and the decor is old, but exceptionally clean, the supplies include all the basics (shampoo, body soap, face soap, towels, dish cleaner), a TV with remote in the room, sound isolation not the best, but I doubt you will have loud neighbors, water is hot, elevator if you don't want to use the stairs, hotels offers parking $15 per day or $2 per hours, free and speedy wi-fi in the room for internet, if you don't have a laptop, there are 2 computers in the 2nd floor conference/activity room, a coin operated laundry room, sun roof on 8th floor, did not visit, and many rooms do have their own balcony, first time in hawaii and glad that we stayed in this nice hotel, instead of throwing money in room and beds that are equally functional and many times more expensive (we got our room for under $80/day), the budget stretched to cover for the tours, car rental, food and souvenirs, we will definitively stay again, highly recommended and we are grateful for the upgrade and all the friendly and helpful assistance we got when we requested.

The staff were friendly and helpful. - in May 11
the hotel is a block from Waikiki beach, quiet with window closed if the partying mood outside bothers you, friendly and helpful staff, no overt social platitude, no dramatic smiles and greetings, the staff was helpful for restaurant, directions, public transportation, car/scooter rental and I am sure many other things we did not ask, because we only paid for their basic room, we got a 2 single beds room, as soon as the availability came up, they upgraded my wife and I to a queen bed room with a kitchenette, too bad there was no microwave in the room, good ac, frige, reliable maid service daily, the continental breakfast is rather simple (slices bread, butter, jam, boiled egg, donuts, orange juice, green tee or coffee) and same everyday, a number of local attractions like the zoo, parks, golf course, king's village, shopping malls within 10-15 min slow walking distance, public transportation will take you to most of the frequently visited tourist locations near and far in the island, for $2. - in October 10
