The hotel has exceeded our expectations. The room were very clean, relatively small, but very well appointed. The breakfast was plentiful and very varied. The service in all areas was very spacious, the food at the pool bar were the portions plentiful, the service at the beach including beach chairs, towels, umbrella worked well, the mini bar had great selection, toiletries, such as toothbrushes, etc. was always refilled tissues. Great location next to Copacabana Palace Hotel just opposite beach - they have their own sun loungers umbrellas and towels free for guests just across the road from the hotel on the beach - a nice touch - felt very safe on the beach - police patrol it regularly - though sea is very strong and can be a bit dirty at times - hotel has a nice rooftop swimming pool with sun loungers and towels provided - which we preferred. - in May 10

The Windsor Excelsior is still a good choice because, - it is a Copacabana beachfront hotel, - has it own beach chairs on Copacabana, - the rooftop bar and pool are very nice and offer an extraordinary view of Copacabana, the beach, and to both the Sugar Loaf and the Christ-statue, - the breakfast was nice, - the price and value were adequate (in Copacabana terms) - staff was professional. - in February 10
