Was with my sister on Madeira, the hotel was very pleasant, clean and the staff was very friendly and courteous, every day a different selection of well prepared food. Unfortunately-and this was very disturbing, there is a small bar directly in front of the hotel, this was in the evening live music and karaoke until late into the night, as was relaxing peace and where we were on the island for hiking. The hotel makes a maintained and clean impression, whereas the entrance hall with reception and bar very cold and dark to appear.
The change from the 5. to 10. Floor (street very loud because of the rain traffic) was not a problem.
Swimming in the pool before the breakfast is unfortunately not impossible, we know is different but no flaw.
Also there is no flaw in the television sector for German only RTL to see.
Otherwise there was no complaints for us and had a very beautiful vacation with very many lasting impressions.

The hotel is located in the hotel zone of Funchal about 2.5 kilometer from the old town or the harbour. The check-in and check-out was purely bungalows Los. The room was big enough (studio) (with balcony, kitchenette, TV channels in German only). The windowless bathroom had a bathtub with shower. In the hotel it a spa area, where the pool and jacuzzi (1.10 meters deep) could be used for free.

Summary: At first we were not sure if Maderia was for us but having been there for 10 days and done the tours and bus trips the place grew on us and we found the people lovely and the scenery spectacular.

Ana the Guide and Marco the driver also very good these trips half the price of Thomson who s coach we followed and was only half full, our coach was comfortable.

As you go past Reids hotel there is a cocktail bar I think called the Mira Mar it looks pricey but is not again 5 Euro for cocktail ( same as hotel) and food reasonable as well.
