The hotel in general
The historic, yet modern 4**** hotel is situated in an idyllic spot by the River Aare on the edge of the old town of Thun.
66 modern rooms, 700m2 of professionally equipped seminar facilities and a creative kitchen offering speciality foods are brought to the guests in a refreshing manner by a young team. Although the hotel is situated in the centre of town, peace and quiet are guaranteed since the rooms are on a little peninsular where all the guests can hear are the gentle sounds of the River Aare.
From the hotel it is only a few steps to the picturesque old town of Thun or the lively town centre. Whether on business or on holiday, the guests will feel at home.

Right in the centre of things - the Freienhof, the island hotel.
Not only is Thun the gateway to the Bernese Oberland, it is also very easy to reach by public transport. There are rail connections from all over Switzerland and the Hotel Freienhof is only 5-10 minutes on foot from the railway station.
By car, Thun is only 20 minutes from Berne and the guests can leave their car in the underground car park.

The hotel is centrally located in tuna freienhof, directly on the Aare river-if you were lucky you got a room with a view of the river, with bad luck on a sad backyard-flat roof. The hotel offers meeting facilities and the food as well as breakfast buffet is worthy of praise. But the extremely small rooms were sold as a single maximum. Although a designer best work has been done, our room the odor Charme an incomplete building site. The mini bar, which I believe is a minimum requirement of four stars-were untraceable. Great hotel in a picturesque setting. We felt very well cared for. Especially recommended is the kitchen and the great wines. All the staff were very friendly and attentive.

We stayed in the apartment that faces the river and it was just perfect. You can see the Swiss Alps from the windows. Just spectacular!!
