A predominantly English Hotel, thus the lack of German knowledge of the staff. Positive eating: nobody starved, everything was sufficiently available. But: the breakfast hardly had a variety of cold meats and cheese, the dinner tasted quite monotonous. Disturbing: our balcony had a frontal Limone and a nice view. Because of the slope directly below the main road but it was so loud, that a stay it was practically impossible. - The front desk is friendly - you should at least however speak English - - the buffet breakfast is rather boring, but for the normal way to start the day is enough! Also they have at home HARDLY such a buffet; -) - the evening dinner buffet is varied and good - especially the daily changing salad buffet - the chef personally checked constantly the condition of the buffets- - it should be for a visit of the restaurants but really a fan of Frank Sinatra and American bar music, as the blades talked loudly for both breakfast and dinner from th... ... Madeira has certainly not our last stay, if it will be offering we even to the Girassol restaurant. We will see how the rates after the renovation. Finally to the previous rating: from construction noise we didn't notice anything. We were on the 4th Floor and the painters and electrician in 11 - as we didn't hear any noise.
We only had breakfast, which was not as mentioned above the sensation but ok. In the hotel we didn't eat in the hotel at night as the many restaurants in the area around it wasn't try them all. The saying "once ... Read more

... given the hotel Girassol restaurant in floors 7-11 renovated. We stayed in the 5 . Floor. This means windows and frames will be replaced bathrooms, tiles and closets are torn out and replaced. So the favorite redevelopment program. The food was very english, especially for breakfast. After the 4th. Day I liked no scrambled eggs, bacon and tipycal for breakfast. We had a walking holiday booked with ITS. For the organizer was unfortunately only this hotel in Funchal bookable. Mainly English and French guests and mainly the older generation, as the price 50 + offered. When we checked in the lady at the front desk was no real efforts. You rattled down your comments in English and ready. We only went for breakfast, swimming and sleep in the hotel. The bathroom was in need of renovation. The size of the room was good.
