The Goldener Hirsch, an institution in Salzburg, impresses by the perfect location right in the Getreidegasse and exudes especially one thing: Charm. I usually reside at Hotel Sacher in Salzburg, because of the opening of the Salzburg Festival, however, my hosts booked me a room in the Goldener Hirsch and I must say, I have a new favourite hotel in Salzburg.

The ambiance is quite different from the typical luxury hotel -- which is to say that all the requisite boxes are checked, but there is a personal and professional touch here that makes all the gilt trappings of the others pale in comparison to the delightful hotel that Herr Poecklhofer and his highly professional (and handsome) staff provide as background to the Bavarian-flavored antique-filled rooms.
