Had a superior room with view of the sea booked with the check in we were asked, whether we want the best room category upgrade. Usual price for this upgrade would be 2,500 Baht (about 60 euros) per night. But, as they are our original room needed, we got the largest room (70 square meters) in the hotel for a whopping $600 Baht(14 euros) extra. The room is very nice and a former luxury for us. The hotel is located on a hill within walking in the heat is very nice. Very quiet location however, between 8:00 and 21:00 o'clock a free Tuk Tuk service to the beach and back, about five minutes to foot The beach was great and clean, the hotel itself is very nice and clean and is in my opinion a good three star hotel and not four stars. The hotel in the year 2006 built, is seen from the beach on a small hill.
The walk from the hotel to the beach was about five minutes. However, it is then at the journey back uphill, or you use the hotel's own shuttle.
It is free of charge by telephone from the Tuk Tuk station call.
The reception at the hotel was very friendly. In fact, the entire staff was during our time of vacation very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is an oasis for relaxation, the beach is just a short walk away.

Our other options are the Kata Beach Resort (same company as the Karon Beach Resort) or the Movenpick which has exceptional grounds but to me always seems excessively humid and still in the ground because it's not exposed directly to the seabreezes like the Karon Beach Resort (best location of all) or the Hilton.

after just returning from thailand ive got very mixed feelings , i spent 6 nights in patong beach (the tourist capital) , it was quite dirty and dingy , the locals harass you from the time you leave your hotel to the time you return trying to sell you cheap ,copied items like t-shirts , shorts , singlets , watches and so much more , they can be quite cheap if you're prepared to haggle on price for about half an hour on every item , on the up side food and drinks are very cheap , especially if you like thai food , the local beer (singha or tiger) is so cheap approx $1.

we have just came back this is our second time in thailand , karon beach is perfect if your looking for a resort with nightlife aswell as a get away from it all resort i carnt say enough about the place great food freindly locals that dont hassel you like in other resorts ,we are now just waiting to book for next year. - in October 09
