The hotel in general
The *HOTEL*RESTAURANT*MARKS* has existed since 1994 and has 3 single rooms, 20 double rooms and 1 apartment. We have committed ourselves to making your stay at our hotel as pleasant as possible for you. Excellent service at a good price is the requirement for our daily work.
The *HOTEL*RESTAURANT*MARKS* was built in two construction phases. The first part, with 7 rooms and the restaurant, was opened on 24th June 1994 and extended to 24 rooms in 1998. We were able to provide the extended number of rooms and the sunny breakfast room to our guests on almost the precise day.
All members of staff always carry out our daily work in such a way that you have a feeling of relaxation and enjoyment while you are our guest. Even if you only stay with us for a short time, you should experience all such advantages.
The restaurant, which is run in the exclusive brasserie style, has 37 seats in the restaurant and 15 seats in the bar. A sunny terrace with more than 40 seats and an extensive lawn for sunbathing adorn the southern side of the *HOTEL*RESTAURANT*MARKS*.
Our event and seminar area is furnished as follows:
It has a capacity for up to 30 seminar participants, conference technology, such as a television set, video, overhead projector, slide projector, flip chart etc are a matter of course.
The *HOTEL*RESTAURANT*MARKS* has been awarded 1st prize several times in the competition for “Nationalparkfreundlichstes Hotel Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft” (the most national park-friendly hotel in the Western-Pomeranian Bodden countryside). It has been recommended several times by the Schlemmer/Schlummer encyclopaedia and by the Marco Polo travel guide.
The hotel is located on a forest site of 9,000 sq m directly by the Zingst cycle path and with a view of Kirr Island, the bird and nature reserve.
Fischland-Darß-Zingst is Germany’s largest peninsula and subject to continuous change by nature. Erosion and sedimentation influence the appearance of the coast.
For people who are interested in nature, we recommend watching the migration of cranes in the period from September to October. It offers you a true spectacle of nature, which is unique in Germany. The Kirr bird reserve is the largest resting place in Europe during the period of migration.
Guided cycling tours through the national park, carriage trips with a picnic in the open countryside, a campfire on the hotel grounds are permanent accompanying offers from our hotel. Seminars in spring and in autumn are particularly suitable, as the learning of new and important topics is made so easy in our atmosphere.
We do not see ourselves as a mere training hotel, but as a high-grade alternative for relaxation and training. In the summer, however, we would like to be there exclusively for the relaxation of our guests, which is why we do not organise any seminars at this time of year.
Why not just come to *HOTEL*RESTAURANT*MARKS* for a taster weekend or for one of our package deals? And you will see …
A hint of a holiday … an experience!
Hotel location
Zingst
The town of Zingst is situated on Fischland Darß-Zingst, Germany’s largest peninsula. It is the Baltic Sea health resort between the sea and the Bodden (a coastal area typical of this part of the Baltic Sea with coastal lagoons formed by spits of land), and is located at the end of the attractive chain of peninsulas. Zingst has developed into the largest Baltic Sea health resort of the area over the decades, without losing its traditional character.
The heart of the West Pomeranian Bodden landscape national park begins right at the edge of Zingst town and extends to Hiddensee Island. Day trips by boat to Hiddensee are offered in the months from April to October. This outing along the inland coast is a great opportunity to watch the bird kingdom and the unusually varied and beautiful countryside.
Surrounding area
Day trips by boat to the Hanseatic town of Stralsund, which is situated about 65km from Zingst by the overland route, are also offered. Stralsund and Rostock-Warnemünde (also about 65km from Zingst) are beautiful alternatives in bad weather. A visit to both towns will make you more familiar with the history of seafarers and the old Hanseatic tradition.
The beautiful German Oceanographic Museum, which has no equal in Europe, is located in Stralsund. The Hanseatic Dome, a games, sports and water paradise, is also situated in Stralsund.
On your way to Rostock, while driving along the B105 road, you will pass through the town of Ribnitz-Damgarten (about 35km from Zingst). In Ribnitz-Damgarten, you can pay a visit to the renowned amber museum, the amber factory and the old monastery.
The bird park in Marlow (about 45km from Zingst) houses a large number of rare birds and, in particular, a small selection of cranes.
The late summer time is also the period for collecting mushrooms. In our seemingly endless forests, there is a variety of edible and also inedible mushrooms. It is worth paying a visit to the mushroom museum in Neuheide to make sure that you have found the right mushrooms.
Neuheide is located on the route of the seaside resorts in the direction of Ribnitz-Damgarten, past Dierhagen. We will gladly prepare the mushrooms that you have collected yourself, or possibly the fish that you have caught yourself, in our hotel kitchen.
The national park office, which is present in the region with well-designed information stands, is housed in the village of Born auf dem Darß. The Darßer Arche (ark) can also be found in Born. The Kunstkaten (art cottage) in Ahrenshoop and also the Kunstscheune (art barn) in Wustrow, but also the numerous art galleries in Zingst, invite visitors who are interested in the arts.
The lighthouse in Prerow, located directly in the village of Darßer Ort, is a MUST for everyone. You can climb the lighthouse during the summer months. From here, you have a view to Pramort, the easternmost point of the chain of peninsulas, and also to Rostock. Even what is probably the most renowned shipping channel of the Baltic Sea - the Kadettrinne (cadet channel) – can be watched from here. In particularly good weather, you can even see the Danish island of Moen.
Cycling tours around the Bodden area increasingly meet with visitors’ approval. Anyone who thinks that such a cycling tour is too exhausting can also go on a one-way cycling tour and return by regular service bus, as this runs with a large trailer for bicycles during the summer months.

The hotel is right on the bay and nearby to the port, but quite far away from the Baltic Sea. We had only booked breakfast, which was very good. From the price/performance ratio of the restaurant we were disappointed. The furniture in the rooms were uncomfortable, so avoid facilities were missing, such as reading room, tv room, sauna and so on, we spent three times in the region our vacation, so I can't say, that the price/performance ratio not true. We went with a group of friends for cycling after zingst come. The hotel pleased us up to two points. Unfortunately, our friends room was very small, also the room was too warm during the day, did not smoke. In our bathroom had problems with the drain. In the interior bathroom ran with light charged the ventilation and after a relatively short time, you could endure the smell in the bathroom. We complained, it was, unfortunately, not with great success. Read more
