The rate is too high, as usual Novotel standards here it is extra costs (for example, Wi-Fi Internet access in the rooms, breakfast out of hours in the room). The hotel is well served by public transport. From the Airport take the public Lothianbus. This is cheaper than the Airlink and stops right in front of the hotel. Station Lauriston place or even closer to the hospital. 10-15 minute shuttle all!
We had the city break offer. Cheap, but unfortunately no castle view. But it did not give a balcony with a view to use it.

The Novotel Edinburgh centre is located in the old town area of old Edinburgh, a new building, rooms were appropriate and sufficiently large bathroom, separate toilet, tv, safe, megabyte, kettle and iron, a small pool and Jacuzzi, breakfast room with natural light, is used as a restaurant during the day, breakfast and more than enough vielsteig, staff friendly and helpful, also in the 'mode'. We booked the Novotel because of its central location and were not disappointed. From this vantage point just a few minutes from the Royal mile with all its sights and there was plenty of restaurants and pubs around. A large park (ideal for walking) is directly in front of the door.
There is a supermarket right behind the hotel. Only a few minutes walk to the Prices street (shopping street). We stayed at the hotel only used the breakfast buffet. It was everything available was enough. (there was no Nutella!?)
