Hotel Occidental Grand Papagayo

Front desk was rude, room was dirty and the refrigerator was empty. Locals guests preferential treatment, staff was unfriendly. The food was uneatable and not varied, the meat, if it was, was of poor quality! The hotel is located on the hillside, some of the paths are far (shuttle), I was lucky, was directly by the pool. Many tourists came from Canada and the USA, they just want to rip music and party. But that didn't bother me. The beach with volcanic, you make your feet dirty. The 'club', a small beach, the boat route, I can only recommend it. (Finally, not the dark volcanic, but Muschelschutt). The hotel is far away from anything, in order to see the country, you have to take a taxi or take a boat trip to Playa de Coco. A small tip for divers:... Read more

Our ten day trip to Panama and Costa Rica we were looking forward to our booked five stars hotel on the beach of papagayo. Unfortunately we were diappointed total. We were first allocated room was totally unacceptable. Already at the US stand an extremely unpleasant odor-a mixture of feces, and incense-on. Also at the replacement room was a musty odor always noticeable. Also there were no towels on the first day available. too many guests for too few pool chairs by the pool and on the beach, also much too few tables in the restaurant, therefore breakfast and dinner at the waiting time at the, selection of the food was very low, quality edible. Away from the pool to the room arduous (117 steps), further from the beach to the room, therefor we had a great view, hotel is situated very remote and secluded. Read more
