First built in 1408, and belonging to Robert the Bruce until he gifted the castle at that point to the Erskine family for their help in Bannockburn . In 1506 the house was rebuilt as it stands today.

Also beware of MacDonald Hotels policy of charging admin fee when paying by credit card, copying the low cost airline model - although they are not a low cost hotel chain.
