The hotel in general
The comfortable 3-star country hotel, is 1 km away from the medieval village of Montieri and offers a wonderful view over the surrounding hills and valleys. Here you can plan either cultural trips (for ex. Siena 50 km, Massa Marittima 22 km) or sports activities, or just relax on the terrace of the swimming pool, enjoy a hydromassage in the hot tube or have a day at the beach.

Hotel location
The Hotel Prategiano lies 750 meters above sea-level on the slopes of the "Poggio di Montieri." At this altitude one enjoys a refreshing climate, even in the hottest summer months.

From here there is a panoramic view of the seemingly endless untouched hilly landscape of the Alta Maremma. The variety of animal and plant life is awe-inspiring. One can experience various landscapes such as the thick native chestnut and oak forests, the typical Tuscan scenery of olive groves, vineyards, pines and cypresses, as well as the evergreen plant of the Mediterranean "Macchia."

However, this quiet region around the medieval village of Montieri is not only an oasis for nature lovers. If you are interested in culture and history, you will find this an ideal base for exciting outings to the most beautiful sights in Tuscany. From this unique location between three Tuscan provinces, it is not far to the famous towns of Florence, Volterra, Pisa, Massa Marittima, San Gimignano or Siena. The numerous small medieval villages in the immediate vicinity, through which few travelers venture, are particularly fascinating.

The deserted white sand beaches of the nature park near Follonica are enticing to those looking for rest and relaxation after day-long visits to Roman churches, abbeys, nobles' estates, archeological sites and museums.


Service at the hotel
The hotel has got 24 bedrooms (14 bedrooms in the main building and 10 in the annex near the swimming pool), a restaurant, a small meeting room, a bar and a large living room area with beautiful views and large TV. WIFI connection and internet points are available free to our guests.

Outside you will find the garden perfect for a drink watching the sunset over panoramic views. Beneath this is a swimming pool and heated spa, table tennis area as well as covered and uncovered car parks. The horse stables and yards are about 300m from the hotel .

Grandfather Paradisi bought the hotel in 1971 and was the first in Italy to offer “farm house holidays” based, above all, on horse-riding. The third and fourth generations of the family have also maintained this sense of hospitality and enthusiasm for equitation. The sons of the Paradisi Family will look after you along with an international team. Our guests are frequently inspired by the same interests, socializing and making friends easily.



Gastronomy in the hotel
Our Tuscan styled food is based on simple and genuine dishes. Of course you should also tried some of the most famous wines of the region: Morellino from Scansano, Montereggio from Massa Marittima or the wines from the Chianti area.

Amongst our specialities there are: a Tuscan Soup with beans, cabbage and bread dish, pici pasta with meat sauce, ravioli nudi pasta with butter and sage, pappardelle pasta with a deer meat sauce, risotto with leeks and walnuts, maremman tortelli, a chick pea cream soup and wild porcini mushrooms, braised meat in red wine, wild steamed boar meat, sliced meat with rocket salad and grana cheese and many more.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. Dinner is a 3 course meal where you can choose from 2 dishes one of which is vegetarian or you may choose “a la carte” dishes.
With half board bookings we offer you the possibility of dining in our restaurant or participating on one of our hotel trips to a stunning maremman outdoor location to join us for a 3-course picnic including wine and coffee. You should not miss these picnics, which are enjoyed by horse-riders, cyclists and whoever likes eating together in the open air –all in a green location of our countryside.

Breakfast is served as a continental style buffet daily. During the day you can have small snacks at the bar..



Sports, entertainment and pool in the hotel
More than 30 years of experience in the organization of horse trips make this hotel one of the favourite destinations for riding lovers. Hiking and mountain bike lovers find various paths, well signaled, and corresponding maps. At lunch time, hikers, riders and bikers meet for a picnic in the countryside.

Our big swimming pool is open from mid march to mid september. But you can relax body and mind in our heated water mini-pool all season long! The hot water provides exactly this natural feeling of wellbeing that you need after a long day of sightseeing, excursions, horse riding, hiking or mountain biking in Maremma Tuscany. Slip into the steamy, bubbling spa for your daily dose of calm.

Especially the bikers and riders among our clients asked us frequently for a good massage. We therefore decided in spring 2004 to install this high quality spa, which offers place for 6 people, on the the terrasse of the swimmingpool.


Hotel room/Accommodation
Our bedrooms have the same commodities as that of a good 3 star hotel and are furnished in a simple and comfortable style. All of the bedrooms have a shower, toilet, telephone, TV, security safe and electric kettle for boiling water for coffee and tea.

Many of our large double bedrooms offer the possibility to add one or two more beds for extra adults or children. Some bedrooms are connected and are particularly suitable for large families.

Our bedrooms are your holiday base, but we invite you, above all, to appreciate the special atmosphere of our hotel, with the fantastic position offering beautiful views and vast horizons, the opportunity to relax or undertake sporting activities.
