Serena we could only recommend it. Nice hotel area, clean rooms, very friendly staff. Was a very pleasant vacation. If the hotel was still manage the existing satellite tv one channel in the German language (ARD/ZDF) showing the turn (not everyone spoke perfect English), which is the level of course should be then it is pleasant former. Ah yes, the beach boys are in mass occur not everyone's thing. Conclusion: very beautiful area with great pleasure again. Read more

During the Easter holidays 2011-after a safari-we were in this hotel. The hotel is owned by the Aga can chain, which has several hotels in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. On the complex, the room, food and staff we can only very positive things to say. The complex is a small village in Lamu Island recreate and very tastefully built. Would book again the same hotel, hospitality in every respect is given, sometimes something (polle polle) slow pace, the Europeans are so used not more hectic we, the Safari was very well organized (Agency: private safaris), a fantastic experience in flora and fauna.

The Serena beach was with the not very happy: the pool was very small, everything was crowded, no free beach chairs, also to ask no received, the beach and the sea were moderately clean, but full of beach boys, during dinner was rejected with a 3/4-pants I, bags were picked up in the morning not.

The hotel itself is quite big but it feels that no one is around due to its design, we stayed around the pool area and there were never more than 6 people there with us.

Each day they said they had fixed it - I know this is Africa but when water poured out of it down the wall we insisted on another room which was so much better - a bigger and more comfortable bed and great aircon - wished we had changed sooner.

Cons: wine is expensive in Kenya and not very good, try the Bellingham Rose which is not on the wine list, its not great but its reasonable priced and quaffable, gym equipment is a bit tired especially the cross trainers although treadmills and bike are ok.
