The Shangri la Hotel consists of three different categories. All in all, it is a very big complex, which covers a whole Bay. The hotel is very well located-right on the high mountains, so that a great impression arises, as you are on the sea and at the same time is right next to a mountain. In order to get to the hotel you had to drive through a tunnel even only. This, however, it is also very quiet. Great country, very friendly people, excellent hotel with excellent service, very good food, good gym. Very recommendable.
We were in the AL Waha, the grounds and restaurants for Al Bandar, however, can be used as well. All in all a very nice resort in a desirable location.
Outside of the hotel is in the immediate vicinity only a diving centre with accommodation, restaurant, otherwise you will have to drive for food and entertainment in the city Muscat. Read more

For us it was a Fantastically beautiful vacation. The people in Oman are very welcoming. The country is very nice and is not free-the pearl of Oman. Great hotel in a nice quiet location. Sufficient beach chairs and sunshades available. For small children swimming rings are available. Don't go to Al Waha expecting evening entertainment - it's very quiet - there is some local music at the Al Bandar a short stroll on a connecting walkway beteween the two hotels and a piano bar at the Husn Hotel, the third hotel in the complex but it's expensive.

Another grip that we had was that the roads in and out of the resort were closed on and off and the free shuttle which only goes in the morning and evening could not run due to the Tour of Oman - we were not told this on arrival, it was not on the resort website and our booking company in the UK had not been told.

We had a hairy ride into Muscat one evening to eat at the famed Mumtaz Mahal restaurant - a great place for authentic Indian food - when flooded wadis had to be negociated by our taxi, and you know you are in trouble when water laps the top of your car bonnet! - in February 10

Good value for the one-bedroom-suite if you book the GCC weekend special (buy one night get one free) Wonderful views on the Gulf Great pool Excellent service and breakfast Dinner is good and the next door sister-hotel offers bar, cafe, shisha and more restaurants Spa is a great experience but very expensive (1000 USD for a 2-hour partner massage)

The spa is also great, and their Philippine Hilot massage sorted out my stiff neck which was fantastic!

The pools are large, free form and delightfully warm. - in November 09
the facilities are excellent - there is a great beach, several large pools, a gym, tennis courts, lots of restuarants and the setting is wonderful.
