The Sea Star is a low rise hotel - 3 floors, about 200 rooms. Layout of the grounds/pools/gardens is lovely and it's about a 5 minute walk to the hotels own beach.
Cleanliness in general was ok, although the beach bar toilets were a bit dire! Some cleaning TLC was definately needed there!
Room was quite spacious with safe and a/c included. It wasn't quite as bright, shiny and lovely as the Thomson brochure suggested!! but it was comfy enough and there was loads of hot water for the showers - even at 5am when an early start was required for ... Read more

The location was more than isolated. Without spending a small fortune (excursions through the travel agencies to 170 euro), it was not possible, to leave the area. A shuttle bus wrong only once a day in the direction of Taba heights-a giant complex exclusively with shops. In the vicinity of the hotel installations old tomb out end of mines, who knows, if partially working? The desk myself in the next environment dissuade.

... Sol y Mar Taba it was 215 kms or 2 1/2 hours with break of about 10-15 minutes. In the hotel there were 2 souvenir stores. 1 pizzeria,1 disco,and a steak house.
There was a free trolley everyday (9 :15 am) from the hotel to the Israeli border (5 kms from the hotel). Then walk from Egypt to Israel and from there by taxi (cost about 8 €) to Elabh city. Back again by taxi (8 €) walk to Egypt (For Egypt entry pay 19 € to Israel, and afterwards about 21 € to Egypt (but at border only took Egyptian £) that one was allowed to enter again. Then ag... 11 days for little money. Downside long ride from the airport to the hotel but therefor you have peace and quiet and no party tourists. The sea is fantastic as the scenery. One is very fast with a rental car or shuttle service at the border crossing with Israel. It is possible to walk there hiking, what I personally liked best, because then you can enjoy the landscape. My sister and I have just returned from 2 lovely weeks at this wonderful hotel. We have visited Egypt many times but this was our first trip to Taba. We went for sunshine and rest and we certainly got these. Perhaps the hotel is a little dated, and could do with a bit of an overhaul, but it did not deter from the standard of the staff which was first class. My sister celebrated her Birthday while we there and the resraurant staff made a cake and led the celebrations. They were all marvellous and could not do enough for the guests to make it ...
