for families with children not suitably; because very few with the kids and almost no animators were there. The food was just bad although the Arab cuisine very delicious. The staff are very nice, but fast gene FFs. The bungalow was really a dream. But we were very far away from the main building and it at 45 degrees no car was there. Nice hotel with a spacious hotel, well-kept area, large pool area, beach with a pier, a nice lobby in a pyramid, nice shops in and across the road from the hotel, good service, friendly and helpful staff! Equipment is kept, but not up to date, some in need of renovation. Quiet location at the end of the safaga road (one of the last hotels) hustle and bustle ;-)

... was no fruit melons! The service left a lot to be desired. The waiters were never by itself to the idea, one to ask, if you wanted to drink and stay at the table you run. Icing on the cake was the check-out: the gentleman at the front desk said no 'good morning' Hello 'and' which number nuschelte unfriendly?', We handed over the keys and that was it. No 'I hope you had a nice vacation...' or something like that.
I think there are definitely better hotel in Hurghada in this class. Sonesta Pharaoh that I can't recommend this unfortunately!

as we had the bottled water,available at all bars,and did not eat fish,or rice,and yes some of the beef dishes were a little tough, staff were very friendly,and very funny,they do like the english,good manners and being polite cost nothing,and they greatly appreciate this,we had great laughs with the animation team,and the staff,very friendly people, the weather was amazing for our one week stay at christmas,clear sea,lovely and quiet,music did play on the beach for the yoga class,for half an hour,it was relaxing, you will be asked daily by staff,for excursions,massage,etc,but a polite no thankyou,goes a long way,the gardens were kept beautiful,a lovely 10 min stroll,to the beach passing bungalows in the grounds we enjoyed our winter hols in egypt, christmas in the sun, wonderful!

I'd suggest eating at the beach or pool bars for lunch - they do very simple but tasty burger/chips/chicken/spagetti type stuff, which is cooked to order so arrives hot.

We went on a 'shop & rock' trip organised by Thomas Cook you get 1 1/2hrs shopping then they take you to Hard Rock Cafe for a meal (limited menu but nice). - in September 09
This was our second time in Egypt staying at Makardi Bay last year and doing the usual trips,so this time we ventured as far as the Hard Rock Cafe in Hurghada for fun night out using the hotel taxi for £80( Egypt) return and a couple of quid for a tip with no complaints.

The staff was very rude and even insulted us (In english) , we had unwanted animals in our room, the taxi the reception called for us brought us to a shop were they expected to buy something and were pissed when we didn't do that, the day we left we had to check out at 12:00 and had to pay everything at the bar (Even bottled water) until 5 PM when the transfer arrived and the quality and variation of the food was terrible.
