The hotel is absolutely not sound proof, you can hear from all sides, when if you turn the water, used the bathroom, the shower or bathtub fully used can buy. Sounds, as you would water fall in the room. Also the steps, the neighbor above transacts, are not to be borne. We had a room on the top floor and the view of the golden triangle of burma and laos after grand. Best able to go out for river trips to burma/laos: jetty directly below the hotel. For someone, a nice pool and garden area is not seeking suitable. Have not used the pool but seen from afar, nothing to brag about. Otherwise, the hotel is all around recommendable.
