The hotel in general
The **** hotel Wengener Hof is a well maintained first-class hotel with excellent views. Generously furnished rooms with all comforts. Creative cuisine and an exceptional selection of Bordeaux wines.
Hotel location
The Wengener Hof occupies the best location in Wengen. It stands in its own woods and magnificent, extensive gardens which are a mass of blossom in summer, and has as incomparable view of the Jungfrau massif, the Breithorn chain and the whole Lauterbrunnen Valley. Though it is just a few steps from the village centre, the hotel is absolutely quiet at all times of the day and night. And Wengen is virtually traffic free. The village centre and Männlichen cablecar is just 3 minutes, and the railway station 5 minutes walk away on virtually level ground. Because of its excellent location, pleasant scale (65 beds) and comforts (4 stars), the Wengener Hof has for many years provided individual hospitality.
Service at the hotel
The Wengener Hof is one of the most venerable hotels in the world-famous Summer and Winter resort of Wengen. It was built just before the turn of the century as a small boarding house and was always extremely popular with visitors to Wengen because every effort was made to keep up with modern comforts and to provide a discerning clientele with a consistently high standard of service, accommodation and cuisine. To this day, the Wengener Hof's policy is to offer its holiday guests a comfortable yet elegant "home from home" and not to slavishly follow the latest fashion trends in the hotel.

Generally, the hotel was excellent. However, there are two minor criticisms. Firstly, the ski boot room could do with a heat source. In the mornings, my boots were often damp from the previous days skiing and the carpet was damp from melting snow. And in the bedroom a clock was required! Also, a bedside table as opposed to a shelf above and behind the bed. would be far more practical. Apart from these two points everything was 5 star! On arrival at Wengen station we were almost immediately met by hotel staff who took us and our luggage to the hotel in a matter minutes. Hotel reception staff were friendly and efficient, check-in took little or no time and whilst being shown our room our luggage was brought up to us. Room was little 'cosy' but had sufficient room to store empty luggage completely out of the way. Room and bathroom cleaned to a high standard every day with the facility for clean bedlinen and towels on a daily basis if required. Most staff were met... As a business and personal traveller I have stayed at some of the world's great hotels and this small, intimate and family friendly hotel has earned a place in my black book of hotels that I want to return to (and have now 3 times). The rooms are comfortably furnished with everything you would expect (mini bar, TV and even an old fashioned valve radio). The Hotel's staff are one of it's absolute strengths and they cannot be complimented enough. From check in, to porters, cleaners the staff are friendly, attentive and cannot do enough for ...
