Our room (no air conditioning) Small had a smelly carpet and very dusty curtains. The mattress of our folding bed was very worn out and the sheets had stains! The bathroom was old and moldy! As our room was situated on the street side and it was with the windows closed it was not bearable (heat and very musty smell) we had to open the window at night, what us a sleepless night complaint was inevitable, since the tram was very loud and the street were very many young people sat and drank. The hotel du Helder is a really good 2 -star hotel! It is clean, the rooms are nicely decorated and the breakfast buffet was rich. The breakfast room is large, bright and cheerful. I have stayed other two- and 3 -star hotel in France, seen much worse. The only downside to the hotel du helder is its location: The rue de marseille resembles a ghetto at night.
