The hotel in general
Between the sea, culture and the hustle and bustle of Matala you can really relax with us. Our resort offers rooms and bungalows for all claims - in the main house, the outbuildings in the garden or in the bungalow suites.
We are a small bungalow & hotel family-run business that offers family hospitality with a personal touch , childcare and child friendly facilities. The philosophy of Valley Village’s brand new luxury bungalows is quite simple: quality, child- friendly holiday accommodation, where families can be happy together.
Hotel location
The Valley Village is located on the outskirts of Matala in a peaceful valley, called the "Matala Valley". The town itself was made famous by the hippies. Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell and many other artists were inspired by the unique atmosphere of the small bay. Our hotel is situated just 900 meters from this beach with its famous caves, on a non-busy little side street.
Matala beach has been awarded a Blue Flag. This exclusive eco-label is given to beaches that offer cleanliness and safe bathing areas and has strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental management and safety. “Komo Beach” in about 2.5 km distance is home to the famous careta-careta turtles and belongs to the most beautiful beaches in Crete. “Red beach” is a little known discreet naturist beach that is reached from Matala only by foot. The path goes over the mountain of Matala, taking about 20 minutes.
Service at the hotel
As a family run business we are specialized in families and their wishes. Many regulars come for years to Valley Village, often also in the “second generation”.
We offer luxury family bungalows with two bedrooms, comfortable double rooms at the hotel’s main building and at the houses in the garden, two freshwater pools with sun loungers free of charge, wonderfully green and well-preserved garden of 12.000 sqm, traditional home made Greek specialties, prepared fresh with care from our family using many of our home grown organic products as well as oranges and orange juices from our own production.
Our reception desk is open 24h (check in also possible late in the night). Of course we will support you on organizing your transfer from/to the airport/hotel by taxi or renting a car (also to pick a car from the airport).
Gastronomy in the hotel
In addition to breakfast and dinner, of course outside on the terraces, snacks and beverages are available all day. In the evening you can meet in a relaxed atmosphere at the bar or outside on the terrace. Also very popular are our barbecue evenings in the hotel garden during the summer.
The majority of the raw foods are produced locally and delivered daily. All meals are prepared by Aliki, who is the “quality assurance” for homemade Cretan and Greek cuisine.
Breakfast consists of filter coffee, tea or hot chocolate, orange and grape juice, bread, butter, jam, cheese, ham, eggs, homemade cake, yogurt with honey, corn flakes or muesli, tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, fresh fruit and is served in a buffet style between 8am and 10am. Evening diner is served in a buffet style between 7pm and 9pm.
Sports, entertainment and pool in the hotel
On summer nights we have barbeques, live-music and Greek nights with participation of the Fasoulakis family and the guests in the garden or on th verandas.
There is a large open terrace around the two swimming pools with fresh sweet water (one for adults and a separate children’s pools) and with sun loungers - free of charge. You can relax under the shade of our pergolas and the trees around the pool area. The use of the pool is allowed until late in the evening. In the reception area you can find our lively hotel bar with its verandas.
Hotel room/Accommodation
Available are standard rooms (with air conditioning and refrigerator) in the main house and in the six outbuildings in the garden, as well as bungalows in sophisticated equipment (2 bedrooms, bathroom with shower and whirlpool tub, two independently controlled air-conditioning, SAT-TV, veranda with garden furniture).
In our new luxury bungalows of 42 squared meters - tailed in two separate rooms - you'll find everything you need for a pleasant holiday and you will enjoy your stay in Matala even more. The centre idea of our Bungalow's architecture is to provide our guests a high standard hotel comfort with private area in a style of a Greek island village. Comfortable COCO-MAT beds guarantee relaxing sleep.

As an extended family with five kids we stayed in one of the homes and annexed had plenty of space for us and still the complete Hotel port for half board and cleaning. This combination had long sought after and we was perfect for us. The hotel is very child and animal friendly, the grounds beautiful, as well as the wild nature in the hinterland. However, it has indoor little space at the restaurant, so it was a hassle on rainy days, a large table. A car is highly recommendable also, the more distant beaches to explore. We had a super nice v... Read more

(18 years) my son and I (44 years) loved it in valley village good, the food was great (if you don't have high expectations)! We would definitely go again into the hotel, the staff were nice and tried very hard, even though the hotel was fully booked during our stay. The pool is not too big, but enough for a cooling dip and up to the beach one runs only about ten minutes. Read more

Super price/performance ratio. Authentic for Crete and in the south, in my opinion one of the best hotels!
Different categories of rooms. From the simple (and cheap) to very high-quality (and a bit more expensive, but really cheap for the quality)
The pool could be increased-but it is also, in principle, fully okay.
We will definitely be back! Read more
