Hotel surroundings are not pleasant, but it's not a good idea to expect people in tuxedos in front of a central Railway station of such a big and diverse city like Paris - there're lots of taxis, cars, people not very pleasant to meet and so on.

This hotel is remarkable for its excellent location - for ones travelling from/to Gare du Nord of Paris there can't be anything better - it is located exactly on the opposite side of the street, in front of new Gare du Nord building and 15 meters from entrance to the Subway. - in February 10
The location is excellent regarding that just in front is located the GARE DU NORD from where is easy to catch train, sub-way and TGV to access the rest of the city.
