Yiannis Retreat Studios is a complex of five renovated stone houses, situated in the wonderful green valley of Kato Zakros, surrounded by olive trees, garden plants and bushes, all there for you to enjoy the magnificent view and the blue and clear waters of Kato Zakros bay.

The rooms are 500m away from the beach, a distance close enough for you to enjoy your swimming in the clean and clear waters and taste the traditional cuisine at the taverns and also far enough to abort the stress from the everyday routine , in our magnificent location.














Access to the complex is easy from the beach of Kato Zakros following the dirt road which goes past the Minoan Palace and the exit of“The gorge of the dead” only a 2-minute drive to come here in our quiet and natural environment, which is addressed to visitors who seek in their holidays a combination of comfort, quality and unique beauty.

Gastronomy in the hotel
You can enjoy your meals in the tavernas of Kato Zakros beach, wich are 500m from the Studios.
In Kato Zakros you can enjoy your swim in the crystal clear blue waters and after that you can taste local wine or raki, local dishes such as fresh fish or meat at the taverns or enjoy a drink or a coffee at the cafeteria on the beach watching the magnificent view.

It is worth mentioning that the owners of the taverns keep their own gardens with fresh fruit and vegetables and they also have their own wine and raki.

However, if the sea and the food do not complete your holidays, it is worth visiting the wonderful sights in Kato Zakros which have a rich historical interest.

Activities in Kato Zakros

If you do not relate your holidays only with sunbathing and swimming, but you also wish to explore Kato Zakros through natural routes appropriate for cycling, or through signed hiking paths where you will enjoy the untouchable beauty of our land, you have your chance here in Kato Zakros. The only thing you need is your good mood and the right footgear and of course your camera.



Cycling – Mountain Bike



At Yiannis Retreat Studios we provide you with mountain bikes, which you can use for free in order to enjoy your ride through the natural routes that exist. Riding through the olive trees, the gardens of the locals, through the Old road from Kato Zakros to “Pano” Zakros, looking at the magnificent view or following the road to the beach, you can combine exercise with pleasure.



Hiking
For our visitors that are lovers of hiking, there are many interesting and passable paths, signed with red signs. Except from walking through the European path E4 that goes through the Dead’s Gorge, there are also very beautiful routes such as the path to Pelekita, Xerokambos and many others. We can provide you with a special map of our area with all the routes, and we can also inform you about anything else you need.

Inside the rooms, we have combined the traditional element in the decoration and the furniture with the functionality and the comfort of a modern lodging, trying to offer you a warm and pleasant environment for your holidays.The interior is designed with stone, there is a wooden board ceiling and stone based double bed. The rest of the room is elegantly decorated with ornaments from the local culture.

Each room is fully equipped with all electric appliances such as electric cooker, refrigerator, coffee maker, sandwich maker and household goods to prepare your breakfast and meals.Furthermore in the kitchen you will find supplies for your breakfast like a variety of coffee and tea, mountain herbs, sugar and in your fridge there are always jam, butter and cold water from the springs of Zakros.


Those of you who would like to prepare your own meals there is local olive oil and a variety of spices like oregano and pepper that give a special taste to your food.

For your convenience we have a common used laundry room and a smoothing iron.
We also provide cots for children, if you wish to come with your little children.
