Very recommendable B&B with extremely kind staff

It is part of an old palazzo, recently renovated and adjusted to modern standards (including free wifi). It has 6 large rooms on the first floor, each with a different name of a flower. Although the entrance of the building is in front of the Via di Pantaneto, a road with less traffic, nearly all rooms are at the rear with a splendid view at Siena’s countryside. To enter the B&B you have to climb 20 steps to reach the first floor, so the B&B is less accustomed to handicapped people. There is no elevator, but the owners (a young ... couple) are very willing to help you with your luggage. read more

We had a large room, called the tulip room, with a large cupboard, a flatscreen TV (only channels in Italian language), and a large double bed with two small bed tables. There are coffee/tea facilities, but there is no fridge nor air-conditioner. The only negative point is the mattress, which is rather hard and in the long run slightly painful. This is because the mattress is a fairly flat one on a hard wooden or hard board bed base. We solved this problem by putting a folded blanket under the sheet what turned out to be very satisfactory. The double glazed window gives a magnificent view at Siena’s countryside. The large bathroom is diagonally opposite the room and has a washstand, a shower cubicle with a very good shower and a bidet, There are several kinds of amenities. Room and bathroom are impeccable clean as is the whole B&B. We booked the B&B through B&B-planet and paid 75 euro a night, breakfast included, which is very reasonable. The B&B has also its own website. All in all, it is very recommendable and we hope to return once. Tip: Diagonally opposite the B&B (at number 32) there is an excellent Ristorante Indiano called Namastey India; very cheap

The cold breakfast buffet is, according to Italian standards, very good: four kinds of bread (only white), several kinds of yoghurt, meat and cheese products and drinks. The coffee machine contains five kinds of coffee. Of course, there is tea too.

The owners are very cordial and extremely helpful. Coming back from San Gimignano (a plcae not to be missed!) on the day before our departure, we found half a bottle of Tuscanian wine (vinsanto) and typical Tuscanian cookies (cantuccini) to soak in it. Very attentive. Check in/check out went very smoothly. They do not live in the same building and are only a few hours a day at present, which did not bother us at all.

The B&B is ideally situated right in the middle of Siena, about 200 mtrs from the central place Il Campo. When you arrive at Siena train station it is recommendable to take a taxi (12 – 13 euro). Coming by motor car you have to leave it outside the city centre.

the hotel lies directly in the center from Siena and the sights are on foot optimal. The shopping in the area is within of 2 minute walk from the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was OK. The room was very big as well as the bathroom (very clean on arrival). the only downside, was during our stay only the bed and the waste, the daily room and bath cleaning was not carried out. On the whole this hotel is further recommendable room however only a short stay. read more
