First of all a wonderful hotel, at least for those, some old-fashioned charm love. The building looks like a castle, and you can also in the internal long walks, without the building to leave. Since we have the christmas holidays were there, was also the whole hotel beautiful and gorgeous decorated-really something for the soul.
Our room was big enough, the bathroom could however a few square meters have been allowed. The other offer the lush: countless restaurants, from traditional american/canadian over italian and fine gourmet kitchen to german/swiss. Also a very nice little tavern is available. Everywhere the quality ... excellent and the service very friendly (with light deductions in the b-note for the gourmet restaurant, where the waiter the whole evening quite offended seemed, because we do not have the allerteuersten wine on the menu trying to order.). There is also too hauf leisure -kid's offers and maintenance for adults, thermal baths in the open and in the hall and everywhere nice corners and seating areas, where you also in case of bad weather time with a book superior, if you definitely not in the room would like to remain.
The hotel is somewhat outside of banff on the outskirts of the town. The center is however in 10 minuten easily accessible on foot.
Conclusion therefore a great hotel, that we definitely book it again would! read more

The box is ambivalent:
Naturally as großese eisenbahnhotel the pacific in the late twenties as luxury hotel of the finest quality after nordamreikanischen taste built, it is virtually a time capsule. Massive halls (for example a 50 times 20 times 10 meters lobby in bahnhofshallenformat!?!), difficult and, of course, with all kinds of architectural applications to the damailgen eisenbauten of trains, as riveted steel beams etc. Make the building definitely worth seeing and erlebeneswert.
On the other side is the box thus naturally colossal heavy and dark. Partly with the vaguest of furniture inexplicable function equipped, with many, massive halls ... in turnhallenformat and even a - in Nordamerika already doubly strange appeared knight's hall bombastic scale, one expects, that either clark gable in the art-deco -well-behaved indoor swimming pool around the corner comes, Jack nicholson with the axe by the endless courses and flurfluchten shinigmäßig floats or even the bad Heinrich with his henchmen from the ' rittersaal'herausstürmt. Therefore also the somewhat provocative title, since a swiss, i later met, regardless of this association had.
Overall the hotel is certainly not (more) up-to-date on the latest, european standards but again, a very special place. Altogether includes some shops, a private ice-skating rink before great mountains, some restaurants and a series of buildings around with a small grocery store, liquorstore included private eislaufsee and german 'waldwirtshaus' and bar in the private park.
A huge complex, on all kinds of maze connected with one another is, and so especially cozy in the winter also indoor they were extensively repaired explore leaves.
But
The extra charge policy of house is evil: cdn 15:00 per day for wireless internet access, cdn 30. - per day for a car on the hotel-own parking or over cdn 200-for a round of golf, as we have heard, are not up-to-date anymore and merely as a greedy be designated.
Altogether is the building overpriced. Clearly less would be appropriate for the quality of the offer. read more

The Fairmont in Banff is an institution. This is a very large hotel, the both internally and externally keeps the its original grandeur. Very good is the could be reached on foot to the gondola up Sulfur mountain. The staff is very friendly / professional. The hotel was located somewhat away from the city. Even though there is still in 20 minutes to get to by foot, but not central. Also there is no alternative to their own parking at the hotel, at least $25 (plus tax) per day = unpleasant surprise. The paths at the hotel because of the ... size of the hotel are far. The restaurants did not inspire, but that was a matter of taste. In the hotel area there are several well stocked shops. The hotel's own golf course should the grapevine good, but very expensive (260 dollar per round). Free internet in the room, but nowhere. The hotel was generally recommendable, whereby I for a return stay in Banff and/or lower rate a either individuelleres hotel would look for. read more

This hotel is well worth a visit. It is impressive and open challenge to release all to. The rooms are large and the cleanliness was paid attention to. The staff is friendly and caring for the guests where you can get. The views from the rooms are equally beautiful and especially quiet everywhere. Whoever Scotland and/or Canada you will love this hotel. read more
