After reading all the great reviews before we went I couldn't wait to step foot in the hotel, and boy was I in for a surprise - it was better than i expected!! The hotel and it's grounds are immaculate, the guys there really do work all hours to make sure everything is looking perfect, whether it be the gardens, pool or the rooms, and there all so cheerful whilst doing it. Nothing is too much effort for anyone here and the staff really do make you feel like royalty, no matter what you need or need to know there's ... always someone around to help out. We found ourselves at the reception a few times inquiring about late check out / the a la carte restaurants etc and we were always promptly served and had excellent customer service. One of the main reasons we came here was due to the expanse of restaurants the hotel has, we went to each of the al a carte restaurants once and there was plenty of choice on each menu and the food was delicious, its a shame we weren't there another week to enjoy them all again. For anyone thinking about paying to go to the teppanyaki restaurant, do not be put off by the fact you need to pay, it was only about £15 each and it was the best night we had there. We went on a Sunday night and we were the only ones having teppanyaki, we got an incredible private show from the chef and the food. well I've never tasted meat as good as i had there. I would recommend starving yourself for the whole day before hand as there's so much food! But don't be fooled, the main buffet restaurant is certainly not a downgrade on the other restaurants, we even chose to eat there on alot days over the a la cartes as the there was so much food to choose from and they have a different themed night every night. We have been to past hotels were the food is a little bland, but there's plenty of variety here, we were never ill off it and everything was always delicious. But for us our holiday was made perfect by the animation team, I have been to plenty of countries and hotels and never have i come across a team of people that put every breathe they took into making our holiday that extra bit special. They work incredibly hard in not just making sure there's activities for people to do but also making sure no one has any problems within the rest of the hotel, if there are any problems they are immediately raised by the animation team and resolved promptly. They are the reason I would come back to this hotel time and time again. I'd personally like to say a massive thanks to both Kareem and Moresio from the animation team!! Kareem your energy is incredible and the effort you go to to make sure every single person in that hotel is happy is certainly worth more than the 6 stars I can rate you on here, you do an amazing job and I really hope your management see that! But for me the highlight of the holiday would be meeting Moresio, you really were the heart of our 'archery team' and you certainly brought the whole group closer together, because of you I've hopefully met some friends for life and I hope you'll be one of them. You made archery so much fun and everyday you went that extra mile to come and chat to us to make sure everything was ok and make sure we had no problems. I would hope the management recognise your qualities and put you in more show's if your back for another season, your definitely good enough!! For the whole 2 weeks we never encountered a single problem and I would 100% recommend this hotel to everyone i know, I am already thinking about my next visit read hotel review

The animation team to start with just make the holiday there's the best animation i have ever seen they do anything for you and bend over backwards to help they are lovely to talk to and are like a family by the end of the holiday. The food i cant fault everything was cooked perfect and really tasty there was always something to eat in the buffet restaurants and the al carte restaurants was even better easier to book and even if the restaurants was fully booked they would do anything they could to get you in to make your ... holiday even better. The room was always clean and towels and bedding was always fresh. To all the staff you made the holiday one to remember and we will defiantly will be coming back home. read hotel review

Excellent hotel, fantastic staff, great service and the beach like a fairytale. Best of all - Animation team - Kareem, Olga, Boca, Mizo.. They will make you feel as comfortable as in your home. All the girls and boys are so helpfull, walking around from morning till evening with a smile and always ready to help and solve a problem. Plenty of activities in daytime no time to get bored and they aren't pushing anyone if you just want to relax. Nice shows in the evening followed by a disco, bingo, karaoke and plenty more.     Stayed in a double room in block 10. Viewed a junior suite plus a twin room and all rooms were good size, clean and comfortable.

    We were so impressed with the choice al la carte restaurants (7 in total) as well as the standard restaurants. We went to all the restaurants and in each one the food was cooked to perfection. There was plenty of choice on all the menus and the staff were wonderful. There was something there for everyone ranging from Asian through to Italian and Mexican. We opted to have a Teppanyaki one evening (need to book in advance) which cost about £15 each and boy was it worth it. Not only did we get a fantastic show from the chef (Ahmed) but the food was absolutely delicious - and so much food !! Even though we spent most evenings al la carting it, the main buffet restaurant was certainly not a let down. We ate here on a couple of occasions and there was always plenty of food to choose from and cooked really well. Main Restaurant got a bit chaotic at times but not enough to put you off.

    Amazing service from all staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The Guest Relations and Management at this hotel are always visible and can generally be seen walking around the resort asking guests if everything is ok, and if there was anything they needed.

    The hotel has 4 good size pools including Family Pool 2, the Sports Pool, the Corner Pool off the main pool, and a VIP/Entitled Guests pool. We spent most of our time by the Family Pool 2 which had a nice little bar and seating area. Our barman (Mohammed) was always attentive (always checking to make sure we had bottled water) but was also one of the nicest guys you could meet. The animation team are an absolute credit to this hotel! They are cheery, professional and the most friendly people you could ever meet. Although we didn't join in with the games they didn't hassle us and but still stopped by for a chat and make sure everything was ok. A special thank you to John, Mido Brown, Boco and Gazal.

    Hotel is approximately 30 min drive from Hurghada Airport in the wonderful resort of Makadi Bay The hotel has 4 good size pools including Family Pool 2, the Sports Pool, the Corner Pool off the main pool, and a VIP/Entitled Guests pool. We spent most of our time by the Family Pool 2 which had a nice little bar and seating area. Our barman (Mohammed) was always attentive (always checking to make sure we had bottled water) but was also one of the nicest guys you could meet.

The hotel is a lovely complex kept clean at all times. You couldn't ask for better staff. All so friendly from the entertainment team to the cooks and even the gardeners. Plenty of choice of pools and places to eat. Lots of room around sunbeds so you don't feel cramped in. read hotel review

    Food is of an excellent standard. Fresh pizzas cooked to request at lunch time. Fresh eggs cooked to request at breakfast. Chefs work very hard to provide a variety of food. Always easy to find something to eat. With 6 other resturants you can book for evening you never even have to enter main one. Best evening restaurant is the Asian. Chefs willing to make something extra for those who are awkward like my daughter without not fuss which was greatly appreciated.

    Entertainment staff are excellent at their jobs. They go beyond their jobs, not only do they run events throughout day and night even whilst walking round pool they play with the kids, check everything ok with adults and even go beyond call of duty and brought cups of tea for my mum.

It is a great and large resort, it is in makadi bay where nothing except resorts and hotels it is very clean and in the all-inclusive service is wonderful and there are Russians and Germans an British people there are alot of nationalities it is a beautiful place in general. read hotel review

This resort is absolutely great! We were there eight times, we really feel there like in our second home. No matter if you stay there with your family, or friends and even though the hotel is full it don't feel too busy as its very spacious. All of the staff took good care of us, as they always do. Food overall was good especially in ala carte resturants. Beach and sea - can't even explain how we love it there. We almost haven't used pools - there's plenty of them, but in fact you don't need them. At least me ... and my family prefer sea. And finally the animation team, what a gorgeous bunch of happy-go-lucky people! Always so cheerful and lovely! All in all a highly recommendable hotel!!)) read hotel review

Large hotel but well spaced across excellently maintained gardens and grounds. It didn't feel crowded despite being at near full capacity during our stay. 24 hour all inclusive means you can always get a drink across a number of bars, typical cocktails as you would expect are ok, local beers and wines are actually quite good. There was a diverse mix of nationalities staying within the hotel, including Russians (majority), Egyptians, Germans and Brits. We were unfortunate enough to experience some of the differing approaches to cleanliness and manners, in particular with the Russians, but this certainly didn't spoil our ... holiday. We heard a number of people complaining about this but in our opinion this was perhaps blown out of proportion. read hotel review

    The room is a good size as was the bed, it was firm which suited us but may not be to everyone's taste. We always slept well so cant complain in this regard! There is a fridge in the room which is stocked daily with bottles of water and every few days with a couple of soft drinks. There is a TV in the room with a couple of English channels, enough to have in the background while getting ready for the evening! The air conditioning in our room was fantastic and despite the temperate outside we often found ourselves turning this off to prevent hypothermia! Bathroom was functional, decent shower and clean. The cleaners are friendly, do a good job and always leave some towel animals to greetyou on your return to the room. Watch out for the Monkey! Marked the room down slightly as ours was a little tired (room 33108), this didn't impact on our holidays as matters little to us as not much time spent in it. However, i can imagine this might be an issue for some as the room could definitely do with some updating!

    Knocked one mark off the score for food. Much of the hotels offering is excellent, there are 6 al a carte restaurants (not 7 as advertised) all of which offer a reasonable selection and pretty good quality. The Bedouin, Mediterranean and Asian probably being the best. The booking system for these is a touch screen system in the main lobby and works really well, very impressed with having unlimited visits to these! (although i read somewhere this might only be some tour operators) The buffet restaurants were standard all inclusive fare, decent quality and entirely edible but sometimes an odd mix of dishes that don't seem to fit together. Three different types of rice for example but with little sauce dishes to go with it..... our tastes perhaps. Cleanliness was good throughout the restaurants - we did occasionally see children touching food and putting it back but there is little the hotel can do to control this. The food seemed fresh and the heated serving trays kept the food hot so all round felt ok. Neither of us had stomach problems of any note. The hotel has introduced a policy of no tipping, so staff will ask you to put any tips in shared box. A shame in many ways as, like many, we like to tip those that have made the holiday special.

    The service at the hotel was good with nearly all staff being friendly and helpful at every opportunity. One exception being a slightly miserable guy on the ice cream counter who had an aversion to both smiling and providing more than one scoop! I'm pleased to say he was an exception.... For us one individual, outside of the Animation team, stood out above the rest as genuinely friendly and entertaining individual who absolutely made our evening in one of the restaurants. Ahmed, who was working in the Arabeya bedouin restaurant in the evenings and the around the world restaurant at lunch times during our stay in the first two weeks of September, is a legend. An asset the hotel should look after and ensure they do not lose! He refused tips, presumably in line with the hotels new rules, but on numerous occasions went out of his way to ensure we were having a good holiday. He always had a joke or game to share at the table during dinner! I hope if management at the hotel read this they pass on a hello from Hannah and Dom from London and make sure they give this guy a pay rise!

    The hotel has a great range of activities available throughout the day all run by the animation team. As all the other reviews suggest they are all absolutely fantastic at what they do, they have a good balance of trying to get people involved but not to the point of irritation and know when you just want to be lazy in the sun! Whilst all in the team were visible, friendly and popular with all the guests there were a couple that stood out in particular for us. Kareem (despite being a Chelsea fan) was hilarious as was his water aerobics in the main pool and shuffleboard by the bar. He can often be found wandering the pool ensuring everyone is having a good holiday, the team take customer service as part of their roles and will get involved in any aspect to help. Special mention also goes to 'Jamaica' who ran hilarious evening darts games in the pub, having been desperate to win for months of losing to the tourists he finally broke his losing streak by 'killing me'.... Full credit to all of them, they are up early and working all the way through to the evening including the stage shows which are all worth a watch. A credit to the hotel... would be a loss if any of them were to leave.

    Hotel is only a 30 minute drive from Hurgada airport meaning a swift coach transfer which is ideal following a long flight, especially if you've suffered a Thomas Cook flight! The airport however is nothing short of chaos, as we were travelling as a couple we coped with battling the crowds to get to one of the two border staff checking passports. There were at least 5 flights arriving at the same time and the airport cannot cope with this volume. Would advise those with kids to be prepared for this, some people waited to the side while one from the party queued. The hotel is based in Makadi Bay, there is nothing on offer outside of the few hotels in this area so travel to the main Hurgada area would be required if you want to get to local restaurants or shops. However, the hotel itself has plenty going to keep you busy and the beach has the usual water sports companies operating. We travelled with Thomas Cook and the on site rep had a wide range of excursions available, we took up an introductory scuba diving trip and a private tour of Luxor which incorporated Karnak Temple, short Nile boat trip and Valley of the Kings amongst others. The private trip, rather than coach, was fantastic and highly recommended to avoid the crowds and work on your time - the private guide was excellent.

This was our 5th visit to SRMB & it was as good as ever. It was lovely to see faces we recognised from previous years. Flights with Easyjet were brilliant & times suited us better. We were allocated a ground floor room in Block 12 which unfortunately wasn’t what we wanted as we had requested a 1st Floor but was sorted the next day by Abdelrahman Attallah. This room was ideal with great views. Our 1st night we were greeted by many friends from the animation. The animation team managed by Osama are always so cheerful & willing to solve ... any problems. Osama – always impresses with his well organised team. This year we were very impressed with his dance skills & impression of Michael Jackson. Kareem – he seems to be everywhere! Not only is he so friendly & helpful but always goes the extra mile to help eg we had a minor problem with our hand basin, reported at 11pm, within 30 minutes he had it resolved. Kareem also has a magnetic charm especially with the activities. John – is always so friendly & enthusiastic. A brilliant dancer in the show. His hair is his characteristic. Mido – always friendly & greets the ladies with a kiss each morning which is lovely. Moresio – has improved his customer relations dramatically since last year. He tries to make the archery fun & interesting. Gazelle – his smile is exceptional & he plays the sitar brilliantly. He has returned to Cairo to study but will be missed. Sebastian – another who charms the ladies & always managed the water polo so well Boca – an excellent performer on the stage. Zidane – His DJ skills & choice of music are good. He works hard at both the beach & pool parties. Amongst the rest of the animation team Silvie & Lena were lovely to talk to & the other lads all try hard. Now the hotel – nothing has changed from last year & is still a high standard. The gardens are always stunning & constantly maintained. The a la cartes are still as good as ever, which we used everynight, our favourite being the Asian & very attentive service by Khalid. For breakfast we used the Mexican & it was nice to see Ahmed E. again. We were invited to the VIP meal for return guests at the Arabian which makes you feel special. It was lovely food & great entertainment. After watching the nightly shows, we spent the rest of the evening around the Pergola Bar being looked after as always by our friend Ahmed A., Sama & Hany. The weather as always was hot & sunny with an occasional welcome breeze. Snorkelling is still good but unfortunately we didn’t see the turtle. We loved every day of our holiday & met up with old friends & also many new ones of all ages. Sadly we had to come home. As we were getting collected by taxi at 3.30pm & the animation were all working on activities, Kareem insisted on seeing us off in the taxi along with Sebastian – thanks guys a nice touch. Magnificent. Our 5th & best visit to SRMB. It was great to be back & lovely to see our friends from the hotel On arrival we were allocated a ground floor room in Block 12 which unfortunately wasn’t what we wanted as we had requested a 1st Floor room. This was sorted out the next day by Abdelrahman Attallah. The new room was 17203 next door to our friends Saskia & Richard! On our 1st night we had a nice buffet meal then met friends from the animation team. It was great to see Kareem, Gazelle, John, Mido, Moresio, Silvie ..., Boca, Zidane & Osama. The animation team is very well managed by Osama. All of them are so cheerful & willing to solve any problems. Even at midnight! Osama – always impresses me with his well organised team. This year we were very impressed with his dance skills during the evening entertainment & his impression of Michael Jackson was brilliant. Kareem –he is a man of action! Not only is he friendly & helpful but always asks if everything is OK. One night at 11pm we mentioned that our wash hand basin was slow to empty but wasn’t urgent. When we got back to the room, about midnight, it had been sorted!- such efficiency. Kareem also attracts so many to his activities. He is a master at Water Polo but can be beaten!! John – is always very friendly & enthusiastic. A brilliant dancer in the show. His hair is his characteristic. He also asks if all is OK. Mido – always friendly & greets the ladies with a kiss each morning which is lovely. Moresio –great at archery. Has improved his customer relations & English since last year. Always tries to make the archery fun & interesting & had 17 one day which proves he is popular. Also is a good dancer. Always talks to us to check all is OK. Gazelle – lovely, friendly & always smiling & willing to help. He is also a gifted musician & plays the sitar brilliantly. He has returned to Cairo to study & will be missed by all of us. Sebastian – he was good at refereeing the water polo. He is so friendly & is always willing to help Boca – A great performer on the stage & essential member of the team. Zidane – His DJ skills & choice of music are good. He works hard at both the beach & pool parties. Silvie – Her English is excellent. She is lovely & is always willing to talk. She is a valuable member of the team & is always performing, dancing & willing to help. Amongst the rest of the animation team Lena was lovely to talk to & many of the others all try hard with no criticisms for any of them- only praise. The Hotel – still exceptional. Snorkelling is still good but unfortunately we didn’t see the turtle. Scuba diving with PDL was excellent & I went on 3 excellent days out. We loved every day of our holiday & met up with old friends & also many new ones of all ages. On our last day we were getting collected by taxi at 3.30pm & the animation were all working on activities. Kareem was busy but insisted on seeing us off in the taxi. Best holiday ever.-). This is what we can say about our holiday at the Sun Rise Royal Makadi. Our visit starts by a great first impression once we have been greeted by the reception with the hotel slogan " Welcome Home". The hotel in general is perfect and really 5 star, the variety of food and drinks is amazing, it was very easy to eat every night in a different restaurant (Asian is our favorite). The room was amazing and our housekeeping made a great job, specially by his different decorations. The service at the bars is very good ..., specially at the main bar and the pergola, the staff is always smiling. Unfortunately, the Internet connection was not good at all but we hope it will be good during our next visit (we hope at 2015). Animation team is the best entertainment team we have ever seen, the daily different shows are very attractive, the live music at the lobby is really amazing. Many thanks to all the staff for the good service, many thanks to the housekeeping and every one of the animation team. Special thanks to the hotel reception staff, they have a very warm smile, although they are serving a huge number of guets. What an absolutely fantastic holiday we had here, I am alreayd thinking about my next visit The hotel and it's grounds are immaculate, the guys there really do work all hours to make sure everything is looking perfect, whether it be the gardens, pool or the rooms, and there all so cheerful whilst doing it. Every member of staff we came across realy did everything they could to make sure you had a pleanat holiday, whether that be bringining your regular drink order or just making general chit chat. But for us our holiday was made perfect by the animation ... team, I have been to plenty of countries and hotels and never have I come across a team of people that put every breathe they took into making our holiday that extra bit special. They work incredibly hard in not just making sure there's activities for people to do but also making sure no one has any problems within the rest of the hotel, if there are any problems they are immediately raised by the animation team and resolved promptly. They are the reason I would come back to this hotel time and time again. I'd personally like to say a massive thanks to both Kareem and Moresio from the animation team!! Kareem your energy is incredible and the effort you go to, to make sure every single person in that hotel is happy is certainly worth more than the 6 stars I can rate you on here, you do an amazing job and I really hope your management see that! But for me the highlight of the holiday would be meeting Moresio, you really were the heart of the 'archery team' and you certainly brought the whole group closer together, because of you I've hopefully met some friends for life and I hope you'll be one of them. You made archery so much fun and everyday you went that extra mile to come and chat to us to make sure everything was ok and make sure we had no problems. I would hope the management recognise your qualities and put you in more shows if your back for another season, you’re definitely good enough!! Our vacation at this place was very good .. we were very satisfied and happy) hotel and surroundings were very nice and pleasant..food was varied and good:) access to the sea was good, the beautiful sea .. :) Everywhere was clean and tidy ..     Very varied daily program with animation team, every night was a show or entertainment or disco- for kids every day from 8 pm. Clean beach, clean pool and water too, but I would welcome a better shower on the beach. Animation team was perfect! Nice dear friendly people- we have made a new friendships, they were tooking care well about our entertainment (for example Czech Silvie, Arabian boys - Yasser,... )

We stayed a week at this Hotel. FOOD: Many choices of places to eat. Multiple restaurants for breakfast & lunch plus numerous a la' carte restaurants for evening meals. The Mexican restaurant also serves breakfast, which is less busy than the main buffet restaurant. (The omelette's are amazing!) At lunch time, there is two buffet restaurants. The second smaller one is less busy, but is very geared towards the Russians! The other restaurant is massive, but is very chaotic, and staff seem to struggle at peak times to keep on top of clearing & resetting tables. This is no disrespect ... to the staff, and to be honest, its the guests that make it chaotic; dashing, diving about, pushing, shoving, grabbing etc. A couple of days out of the seven, (three i think) they put on a BBQ for lunch. The lamb kebabs are AMAZING! There is also a pool bar which serves snacks & pizzas. The buffet restaurant in the evening is a lot quieter & less stressful than lunch time! We ate the majority of evening at the various a la' carte restaurants. On the whole, they where excellent, the Mexican & T-bones being the exceptions. They are both very rushed, and have the feel of a fast food restaurant. Literally, once you order, your food is with you within like 2 mins! We also tried the Asian, Italian & Bedouin - these are totally different to the mexican & t-bones. Very relaxed, not rushed in the slightest & the food is amazing, just how it should be! ROOMS: Our room was lovely. Air con which was a welcome bonus! Massive bathroom & separate shower, balcony with seating area. The beds & pillows were very comfy. Rooms were cleaned daily, bedding seemed to be every other day. Towels changed daily. The accommodation is set over the whole hotel complex. At first we thought we where miles away from everything (we arrived late at night). The following day we soon realized nothing was more than a 4-5min walk. POOLS/BEACH: The swimming pools were lovely! Nice & clean. Plenty of sun beds, no need to reserve with towels. Towards the end of the week, the pool seemed to get a lot busier, this was due to a pool being closed at the later end of our holiday. That said though, we still had no problems getting a sun bed. Towels are available from the towel huts. I would highly recommend asking for a "red flag" to stop getting pestered. Numerous people come to talk to you from the Spa, Diving school etc, which gets a bit much sometimes when you just want to relax, however the red flags stop all that. ENTERTAINMENT: There is bags of things to do at this hotel! They have an action packed activity schedule during the day to keep you busy if you get bored! This ranges from water polo to aqua gym from yoga to learning a new language! We only did aqua gym, which was great & i really enjoyed it! The animation team are the back bone of this hotel & work so hard. They always have got time to chat to you. They make sure they ask all guests every day if everything is ok with the food, rooms etc which is really nice. They are very enthusiastic and love a bit of banter & a chat. Had another fabulous stay Never a dull moment at the SRM. The animation team, are fantastic and keep guests of all age, gender and nationality involved. Can't fault the team at all. a personal favourite of mine was the comedy show involving the Michel Jackson dance and the very talented acrobats Room was clean and tidy, hotel was exceptionally clean and continuously being monitored. any spillages were very quickly cleaned up The cocktails in the lobby bar were amazing, and the pizza at the pool bar. The A la carte restaurants were just as I remembered and the fillet Mignon ... on the T bones menu was simply amazing. Look forward to returning again soon read hotel review
