As a part of our sri lanka -round trip we were one night with our group in this hotel accommodated. The colonial style this hotel has a certain charm. Our room was big and comfortable, the dark wood, the large soft bed, the set-aside fireplace (heat by a small heater generates)-everything was great harmonized and we immediately felt at ease. To the greetings there was for us this time no cocktail, but hot soup in espresso cups (great idea - was so cold there atop in the mountains. Eww)! Dinner and breakfast was delicious, the beverages but totally overpriced. Wanted ... after eating us with two couples in the fireplace room zurückziehn and chat, but it wasn't really possible, since there live music in the form of a solo entertainer and drunk guests is embarrassing behaved and loudly at the dance shouted have, we didn't like. Well.! read more

As a part of our Sri Lanka round trip we were 1 night in St.Andrew accommodated. The hotel is very british. The checking in went briskly and very pleasant smoothly. We were welcome only once a cup of soup. We arrived in a temperature of 16 °C in the hotel at, Los we drove in the interior at 36 degrees. Accordingly we froze also.
The hotel impressed by its architecture. It is a great English Colonial construction with a very well maintained garden area, of course with English lawn.
The rooms are typical English. At night we were freezing. ... In the bar even the fireplace turned on. From the outside looks better, as it is. Over here there must be some. Great was, that one in the room free of charge internet to receive could. There is a small free safe in the closet and the temperature an electric additional heating.
The restaurant was something completely different, as in the past. It had no window. Where the buffet was, you had to over stairs go down. But it had a little. The selection was very big at the buffet and it tasted great. The service was fast and friendly.
If not action will be taken soon, loses the hotel this special. read more

As a part of our round trip we were only a night in this hotel. We hope the hotel as soon as possible, renovated, because the old charm of the British time doesn't everything away. In comparison to the other we visited hotels in Sri Lanka this was unfortunately the worst. From the long and can but also everything again good. read more

As a part of our Sri Lanka round trip we were 1 night in the St. Andrew accommodated. Really it seems that the time warp to be, without the the hotel ruins called. The hotel is however badly needed renovation, but not dirty or run down. It has absolutely flair and is very British. The check in went smoothly over the stage. As a welcome drink we were given a art broth enough. We knew not. The fireplace-room and snooker room were very dark decor.
As rooms we were given a suite (last room at the end the Ganges). Nice ... large room with extra Reading room and a small balcony, as well as a four-poster bed.
Evenings published a servant and übereichte us hot water bottles for the night.
The only negative was the small and dark ( no rooms) restaurant. The buffet was in the evening and also for breakfast from the quality and quantity reasonable.
The outside facilities were prettily and the terrace invited to drink tea, a.

The restaurant is a crypt (windowless, dark with dirty tablecloths, the floor not to mention)-because it is too small, you could have bad luck, in the adjoining room to eat, which was more like a closet than a restaurant. The freshly squeezed orange juice had been watered, cost but five dollars (a steep price for Sri Lanka), the complaint was ignored. The tours are too expensive! Locals like to spend the weekend at the holiday-makers hotel, but other sound proofed rooms tolerances for the 'good night'! The only entertainment, billardspielen, is unfortunately only professionals reserved only highlights were the evening ... hot water bottles, the fireplace and the 'Hi tea'. Urgent renovation of the hotel and especially the management needed! It all adds up to a flop, as the city itself is worth a trip. read more

Location not far from the city center, with a beautiful park/driveway
Booking was known and our everything at the check-in prepared. Good value for money for the room, especially in comparison to other hotels, for example/tea factory Grand hotel, drinks something higher than normal, reasonable food prices up.
Very friendly service, stylish room service. Huge snooker table with competitors crowds, very good hotel, as valuable. Bar with two rooms (smoking 1 room), lounges with fireplace and library. Overall a nice stay in spite of the rain, because the 'old English' ambience is harmonious. Disadvantages-fully booked, so often full with groups: ... noisy in the dining room. Renovation in the bathroom and the windows. read more

Very old hotel. The hotel is used by many countries, only for transit purposes to kandy, what led up to the temple rituals that the guests to 4:00 a.m. in kandy to see. There is not more to think about sleeping. Would not more to go. Worlds end was a let down not to recommend only rip-off. nothing to see any animals in the national park. View is even better in the allgäu. read more

On our trip we have made in nuwara Elijah.
The Highlands is famous for its tea plantations and has amazing nature views to offer.
The St. Andrews is an old-established hotel, the charm of the Brit Chen has preserved colonial. Next to the welcome drink '-' (a soup from cups) original english-style tea in a waiting the hotel with wide stairs and lovely ancient rooms on.
We have stayed in a suite, very large bedroom next to the the living room has also a small.
The balcony was unfortunately on the mountain side, so that we did not have a ... view on the place.
But we had a great four-poster bed. ☺
The dinner is served in the traditional menu and St. Andrews therefore requires a certain wait. The quality was convincing.
Our table waiter (mr. Daniel) us has shortened the waiting period with its good mood and small tricks.
The room service was extremely attentive. As for the Sinhalese in nuwara Elijah Bergland is perceived winter (about 15 degrees in the evening), with us our room boy was still fresh at bedtime each night for the brought a bottle!
Technically you should definitely visit to the local market and walk the shops, as well as the bazaar. read more

We were a night on the passing through there. It was only a little to complain about principle. The restaurant is not to be recommended. A super high personnel costs, the breakfast was absolutely disappointing but (bad) and the dinner average (2 menus to choose from). Despite the hohern staff cost, you always had to wait very long! read more

The hotel was full of a certain charm, so you feel you've stepped back in the time. Already the entrance to the hotel if you drive in, the whole building has something cool from. The room was very beautiful decorated. The food was excellent. It was no buffet, but you could choose a menu. The quality of the food was great. In the evening it is very cool and then also is lit the fireplace in the room with fireplace. ☺ Us has it fallen great! The staff was friendly and courteous. We were a night on a trip in St. Andrews. The building is from the colonial period and accordingly is also the hotel opened, you immediately felt in the England of the early 20. Century back. As we were there it was really just the old reclaimed wood parquet, what speaks brought a light smell with itself, but clearly, that the hotel is well maintained.
The hotel is located about five minutes from downtown Nuwarah ELIA away, but I found the city despite some nice building not very inviting. Our room was very large, spotlessly clean and with a loft ... with two other beds. For children the area would certainly have been a nice playground. We have a pool in the short time not discovered, but it was typically British-a snooker table, as well as many nice seating for relaxing with a cup of tea a. The food (buffet) was very rich (local and continental cuisine) and tasty and the staff was always friendly.
Although Nuwarah ELIA was not the nicest city on Sri Lanka, but the area with the mountains and the tea plantations still some level. The hotel is for highly recommended trips. But it is a longer stays on a car to make to other activities. read more

The hotel is located in the highlands of Sri Lanka, especially the drive there is an experience (tea plantations, waterfalls). You must know, that the (relatively) temperatures in the evening are low (10 to 15 °C), what is getting a.
The heat was a cup of soup it to the front desk and in the evening a bottle to the room. In all my wife rated very these gestures.
The dinner was served as a menu (you could choose the main course and the dessert from two to four alternatives), what was a refreshing change from the usual buffet. ... The only negative was the dirty tablecloth and the annoying loud music in the restaurant.
The quality of the food was not outstanding, but acceptable, the selection at breakfast was moderate.
You can walk into the town of nuwara eliya is worthwhile itself on each case, the distance is small. We were on the market for local vanilla, Ginger and Chili very cheap buy.

We stayed as part of our trip only a night at the Jetwing St. Andrews.
The friendliness of the staff-all were very what not to polite and courteous.
Unfortunately the condition of the room something to be desired. Partly old furniture and the bathroom was the absolute disgrace: mold where you also looked. It should be done something.
The food was but the quality is very good, if also the choice for breakfast was very small.
The charm of the hotel is really second to none-from the outside it makes a really beautiful and romantic impression. read more
