Classic swiss chalet-style hotel. The room was very spacious and very tidy. Also the bathroom was good (shower) and toilet very clean. There was a balcony and we had the view to the front of the hotel on the mountains. We were over new year's eve in the hotel and the evening entertainment with swiss music, as well as the food were very suitable. The service with the food in the restaurant was good and courteous. The hotel is ideally located to every day to make excursions. In terms of value for money we were very satisfied. We were very ... satisfied and would gladly come again. read more

We pushed on our spontaneous trip to the Bernese, oberland in lauterbrunnen on this already from the outside attractive hotel. After a small aperitif on the hotel terrace with a nice view fallsview, we decided to stay here. We decided for a room with large terrace and lateral view of the cases. The room was spacious with wooden furniture, but also newer design (lamps). Everything was very clean and tidy inclusive bathroom, this as only drawback a bit small is, and large people in the shower probably dealing with the ceiling make. The breakfast, in a urgemuetlichen 'Stube' serves, was ... diverse and the coffee you could selbststaendig and as much as you wanted from a machine in different variations to choose. The table was based on the room number assigned. There are potential of improvement: the table should be left the guest. At the service there was nothing to complain about - always friendly, competent and we were with good Ratschlaegen to tourist attractions in the area informed All together a place where you gladly anytime again visit more once and would not hesitate to recommend, if one Swiss rustic and simple uncomplicated like. read more

We were only briefly in the guard, but would in lauterbrunnen again and again only to this hotel. It tunes everything, from the practical parking and hotel atmosphere to the friendly and attentive host. The rooms are practically equipped, very clean and comfortable. Specifically mentioned are the comfortable mattresses. Also the breakfast is of a high standard. There are plenty of fruit, different meat-cold cuts, cheese, muesli, juices eTC. ETC. read more

The hotel staff does an excellent job keeping the hotel clean. We found this to be the same in the public restroom, the common areas, the restaurant, as well as our room. The size of our room was more than adequate considering all we did was sleep there. We purchased the breakfast option for 20.00. Expensive where we come from but in the ball park comparing to the surrounding restaurants. We always found the food at the restaurant to be very good, well worth the visit. We are Americans living abroad in Germany with the US Government. We've traveled ... all over Europe and Lauterbrunnen is our favorite city making the Hotel Schuetzen the best place to stay. read more

    The room size was more than adequate. We especially loved the beds and the bedding (who wouldn't love their own federdecke to snuggle up in with the windows open?). The 2 chairs in our room were all wood and very uncomfortable. The 2 plastic chairs out on the balcony were more comfortable than the ones inside. It would have been nice to have had a cloth recliner or couch but then again, we didn't come to sit around.

    When we booked our reservations this time we were not aware the hotel restaurant was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The past 2 times we found the food at the restaurant to be top quality with enough variety for everyone (children and seniors).

    The service at the hotel has always been good. Never had any complaints. We've been amazed at how many languages the staff members speak. We spoke with one of the girls in the restaurant who spoke German, English, Swiss, French, and Italian. The internet available in the hotel was more than adequate for our needs and at a good price!

    This past time we stayed on the south side on the 2nd floor with the balcony facing the Staubbach Falls. In fact, from our balcony we counted 7 waterfalls (13 using binoculars). It was nice to open our window and hear the water falling off the mountain. Previous times we've stayed overlooking the main street. The street location also had it's advantages to view the trains making their way up the mountain and occasionally watching the cows and sheep being led by the shepherd back to the pasture.

The check in is possible only at certain times. Although only two guests checked in, very long time waiting time ( circa 20 minutes). The night had in advance paid. In the hotel's own restaurant was the salad old and not recommendable, the rest was OK. Except for one was the waiters pleasant. read more

The Hotel Schutzen is an excellent 3 star family run hotel and restaurant set in a stunning location in a picturesque rural village. Some of the rooms have a most wonderful view of the Stubbach waterfall and valley. We stayed there for 7 nights, half board and found this to be good value and would not hesitate to stay there again. read more

    Over the past 20 years we have stayed in a number of hotels in the surrounding area, but find that Lauterbrunnen’s central position provides the best access to all the main mountain areas. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the railway station. It is in a quiet location with only the sound of the distant running water of waterfalls in the night.

If you want a ski weekend in the Junfrauenregion without large comfort and wellness to spend would like, is here in good hands. With a view of the Swiss standard- the value for money okay. The location of the hotel in Lauterbrunn is perfect (very short distances to the train station and ski rental). Parking spaces at the hotel are available -the costs are the ortüblichen tariffs. The front desk is only open at certain times, for us this was uncritical but you have to bear in mind. The payment on Credit costs additional fees. We had the half board ... booked, whereby one also only dinner can book. Breakfast there is from 8 o'clock. The quality and quantity of the food was good and plentiful. The breakfast buffet was manageable, but sufficient and it was very quickly refilled. A foyer with seats would be desirable, as you apart from the restaurant and your own room stay possibilities has. read more

Charming ancient house with authentic atmosphere and a very nice staff. Really good beds let us sleep very well. Only a few minutes walk to the train and ski station. It was an excellent price-balance. read more

In the cozy hotel with elevator we had a small, clean room-ample for ski holidays-just for the night. For ski equipment is a warm large room available. Free parking at the hotel and the bus in front of the hotel to the ski lift. The restaurant was unfortunately Monday and Tuesday closed, but there are several possibilities in the neighborhood. Very friendly staff at the front desk. read more

The Hotel Restaurant Schutzen is, in my opinion, the best place to stay in Lauterbrunnen due to location. We loved the balcony views of the mountains, trains, and cows walking up and down the street. The room was perfect with 4 beds in 1 room. The beds were comfortable as were the feather covers (federdecke). The shower was a disappointment but only because I am so tall and the shower head comes out at chest height (perhaps that is the Swiss way?). read more

    The rooms, as previously mentioned, were perfect in size and comfort level. If anything, the heater worked all too well. We eventually turned it off and enjoyed the cool crisp air. The bathroom needed additional towel bars to hang used towels as well as a hook on the door for cloths. There were no unpleasant smells or odors, the room service personnel did a good job keeping the rooms clean.

    We wished that we had eaten at the restaurant the first 2 nights there. We ate there our 3rd night and it was the best Swiss food we'd had ever. They were set up very well for small children and the fireplace made everything perfect. Good food, good service, good ambience.

    Everyone we met at the hotel spoke our native language (English), without any problems in communications. The maid personnel were very friendly, cooperative and polite.

    Internet service was slow. Perhaps due to location from the router or perhaps due to location in the mountains of Lauterbrunnen. Either way, it was slow, but reasonably priced, and at least available. It was not something that would prevent me from coming back for a 3rd stay.

We arrived without a reservation and were given a lovely room with balcony and view at the lowest rate we had found in town. The staff and owner were friendly and delightful - very accomodating. We will definitely stay here again. read more
