The hotel Winchester is a pretty but a little oldish hotel, which at the time of our stay was being renovated our room smelled so strongly of paint, my son and I had to be afraid to get a headache. On my attention was given a spray with hands. The heating could only be operated centrally located, so that I woke up in the second night was that the radiator was stinking hot. Because I wasn't a telephone in the room I had to wear, 2 floors and walk down but ask the receptionist the heating in our room off ... (why in the middle of the night, the heating turned on behond me). The hotel is pretty good (only a few minutes' walk from Victoria station). However the Belgrave Road a busy street, so the traffic noise was quite night. The staff is not too friendly. When we arrived, we were (instead of a greeting) first fierce asked to pay your bill immediately. In addition, a sign, that when you check out for each piece of luggage storage space is the you will pay £1 (I've never experienced that before). All in all: OK but just barely! read more

The level of equipment ok, good beds, clean, everything that you need. Only the telephone was missing (so was in the middle of the night 2 stairs down to the front desk ... ). Just like already mentioned the Farbgestank was not so great. The heat problem but without this and without the room would be absolutely alright!

The breakfast (included in the price) was absolutely in order. Full English breakfast with all right paraphernalia (orange juice, coffee, tea, toast, croissants, corn flakes, cereals, eggs, bacon, etc. .. ) and freshly prepared. The only downside was the impossible breakfast room in the basement is, no ventilation where it smells (the seated beside is always open) and what not inviting and very crowded.

The staff isn't really friendly respectively were rude and not very helpful. My problems with the room were not taken seriously: so after the motto the can't be possible, the room has been renovated a month ago. The rooms are extremely of paint smell, so we were constantly (even at night) leaving the window (despite some cold and street noise). The problem with the heating (the only central adjustable was) was not taken seriously. Although I already on the first day pointed out, that I did not have a heater in my room requests (otherwise Farbgestank not at all have been bareable) during the second night the heating was on full tours (to 0h30)! We had breakfast, service was better, even though it is it bothered us that the cook the service staff herumschickaniert loudly.

The location is really good. The Victoria station is within a few minutes walking distance. The Buckingham Palace and Westminster is within walking distance. Beware: The Travel information on the internet is unimaginably poor, it is also very easy if you take the right exit from the train station! From subway, take you had to go to the train station inside. Now the escalator up (Victoria Place, above are shops and restaurants), then turn right and continue straight through (Eccleston Bridge). Then turn left and keep going straight: Eccleston Bridge, Eccleston Square, then Belgrave Road. The hotel is on number 17. As I said, the location is ideal for a visit to London. The only downside is that the Belgrave Road very busy and the noise in the hotel accordingly!

The rooms are as described above very small, fine and clean. Amenities we have already described above under "general". To add is that it was a safe in our room, which was in the closet. The hotel is pretty old, but well maintained. We had a ground floor room (#3 ) with a view of the courtyard. That had the advantage that it was quiet (no street noise) and you could quick before the door, smoking. (All rooms non smoking)

Only breakfast ... As already described in general. Typical "British" just. For 2 days you could stay there cheese, sausage & fruit stand -) You can get full. There are everywhere enough cafes, bars & restaurants to supplement.

The front desk is open 24 hours. The rooms open by electronic keycard. From the reception via the breakfast staff to the cleaning staff, was all we met, very nice and helpful. We were given advice on trips, the cheapest transport links and maps of London. (Free) a small room with free internet access available at any time was ground floor available. The rooms got cleaned daily.

The hotel is an ideal starting point to explore London. We were with the Gatwick Express from Gatwick airport in 30 minutes from Victoria station (where guests can catch buses and trains and the Underground train to all parts of London) from Victoria station to the hotel we stayed at 5 minute walk to the hotel. A smaller bus stop is only 2 minute walk. Many of the tourist sights are in the immediate vicinity and for example. The Buckingham Palace (only 15 -20 minutes walk), the Hyde Park, London Eye, Madame Tussauds, the Tower of London and much more.
