I booked this "hotel" via the Splendia website which promises to deliver "luxury hotels" I found nothing luxurious about Palais Soltan apart from the furnishings which I will admit were very nice. Everything else was amateruish and shoddy. The room lacked basic neccesites of a hotel room such as hair dyer, iron and mini bar (not even any tea/coffee facilties!) The service was very poor - we were made to change rooms 3 times to get the deluxe room we paid for as they had put us up in a much smaller standard room. No apology or explanation about how ... or why this mistake occurred. The staff were freindly but terribly incompetent - no manager on site so no one to complain to - just shrugs of shoulders and broken english from the staff. This place is NOT 15 minutes walk from the medina as the staff had told us - me and my wife are both fairly fit and walk alot - the walk to the gates of the medina took exactly 50 minutes! The hotel is also unheard of by local taxi drivers so expect to pay about 80-100 DH for a trip to the medina which is very expensive. Overall I would say that there are much better places to stay in Marrakech I still had a great time there but this hotel did not add to it at all. read hotel review
