Punta leona is an extensive and large laid out facilities, in which you lots of animals Costa Ricas watch.
The bungalows are for two people well equipped. We had one with a terrace. It is dreamlike if you evenings in front of the bungalow of nature zulauschen can, or a pfeifchen smoke can, because in Costa Rica prevails for some time ban on smoking which you but good trick can. That Costa Rica no extraordinary kitchen is well-known and also no reason, why this country. However is the food in this hotel rather modest and almost sad. The beach directly in front of the hotel is inviting few. A large part of the complex is neglected and construction are also available.
In this complex one is rather cut off from the rest. The way to the entrance is long and even arrived there, you can't further. One has however the possibility over the hotel a taxi one way for 35 $to Jaco (12 kilometer) to book.

The location of the hotel in the middle of the nature uS particularly impressed. Particularly the Coatis and Kapuzieneräffchen in the restaurant gave the whole the particular appeal, even if you almost hardly came to the meal.

That-despite extra charge a room without a balcony / terrace got, was probably rather at the travel guide as at the hotel. However we were given the impression, that room with a balcony / terrace the local space, the only 2a 3 days over the weekend ... were there.

We were after 2007 the second time in this hotel. In our 1 week stay two weeks here have we planned.
Really positive is the great location in the forest and the many animals. Compared to 2007 have themselves in the Aras, to our delight, very. They were each day to listen and to see. Less the coatis and become the raccoons. Monkeys have visited us sometimes the breakfast in the restaurant. The two turtles at the Playa Blanca we have seen in the second week also still. As well as a sloth and a armadillo. Playa Blanca beach still ... very beautiful and also comfortable couches.
The beach at the hotel has only the plastic beach chairs without cushions. Now it has also a solution for the chained pool chairs. It is not only when we arrived a hand towel cards, but also beach chairs maps. The beach chairs you get next to the towel was, by the large chain and you can take to the beach with, to where you want. In the evening you. again the hotel because of the chain: as the beach also is accessible to the public, are of the ticos a few beach chairs with having been home. Since then you have to put a stop to this.
Room so far from the cleaning was also OK. Not lavish, but completely enough for sleeping. Air conditioning has worked very well and also quiet. two bottles of water in the fridge it is only upon arrival, then not more. The is something weak at those temperatures.
Food-Oh well. Since May the banner. I would say enough, not huge. Also very limited selection. It was okay in terms of taste the beef was actually always tough in the restaurant carabelas and almost always burned. Chicken and pork were good however.
The restaurant by the Playa Blanca was great however. As we have eaten almost always lunch, the cook understands be craft. All meals, here you chose from the menu, and were found to be of the highest quality.
Also the mixed cocktails tasted the best. Also the waiters were very funny and good on it. What you from the pool bar not say.
A big drawback is the beginning of the booked achievements. If you save, whether the hotel or the tour operator, is certainly not supposed. The room 801 is not to be recommended, as it on the bus park and turning square! The tap water is safe for coffee cooking and brush your teeth. Please note, all inclusive shall apply only from 15 hours, we were to eleven hours
since! Water temperature about 26 degrees was, daytime temperature about 33 °C and at night about 26 as well as no wind! The idyll in the bungalows are unfortunately disturbed by the American school. The locals at the weekend as the mainly us were have not disturbed! Very little quible coffee on the room were unfortunately ... only four per day. The great wildlife was impressive. After the february 2009 we stayed at the Punta Leona were and I was a detailed hotel reviews before. I would like to refer to me in this review only on details, the positive or negative I compared zium last year were noticeable.
Positive:
The room in Selva marber standard were all renopviert. It will now also more room with terrace.
The friendliness of the staff has improved. The different animals at the pool and at breakfast are more and more.
Present German tour operators in the area.
Negative:
The choice of food in particular restaurant, both for breakfast and ... dinner is very limited and not especially varied. Example: only rarely jam for breakfast, only two types of bread.
Dinner only the choice of meat/fish dishes three. Miserly dessert buffet (1 sort of cake, fruit salad, ice cream) not even fresh fruit and in the CR.
Unattentive service, especially for dinner.
No cushions for the beach chairs, no umbrellas.
Trips avaliable on German travel agent overpriced (2 hours 'crocodile Safari ' on the Tarcoles -river per person 60 $).
Taxi to Jaco (absolutely not worth seeing, dropout nest, overpriced souvenir shops) and back (a total of 34 kilometer) 40 $!
Weather: November/at the beginning of the end of the six we December had eight days each afternoon about two hour heavy at night; also getting it often. In the morning was almost always the best time for the pool/beach.
SAD: August died suddenly in the very popular German guide, Mr walz, who is to the guests in the hotel were very good, but also to Costa Rican Punta Leona. It is on site still very great distress. read more

Above all: I can understand it not, that some people in the existing reviews about this hotel complained about it, that the employees speak German no it only a German television station is. Found what we positive:
The staff at this hotel is very nice and friendly. The area is very clean and the really everywhere also if you have a little in the years come is, inter alia, of what you have terminated ... the concrete beach access, directly on the Playa Mantas, looks! The other beach, Playa Blanca, the one with a shuttle or also to foot over the Manta rays (at low tide) Playa can be reached, is beautiful (but some waves, what the swimming fun for us but the giant has made)!!
The main restaurant is nicely and wood open plan.
Like everywhere in Costa Rica you get here also, the part, great animals to face like Aras, coatis, raccoons, iguanas and with something luck also toucans and belt animals (not finally list). It offered by the hotel two free animal observations. On the one hand, the night walk and a bird watching tour in the morning. We have both gone through and found full all the night walk exciting. Spiders have seen here and also the very dangerous lances otter (bite lethal without serum, but it is a doctor on the grounds of the hotel).
As you get shit and the is also the reason why you never without a guide in the rainforest to go. In the hotel it was Arnulfo the us has led and progress is gone. He speaks english and many other employee was very nice.
What we found negative:
I must say, that we before our stay in this hotel a 8-round trip with a separate jeep have made around the country. Here we were in beautiful, individual hotel (booked through Miller-travel and very recommended!) we arrived here now, had decided to conclude to enjoy a week seaside holiday and us on the basis of recommendations for this hotel.
I must say in all honesty, that my friend and me the first impression of the hotel once has shocked. Makes a nice impression but the reception as we us at the pool area went, it was over with the good impression. Here was the parts played loud music and as we arrived on a Sunday was it fully fully and completely. The beach directly behind the pool area (Playa Mantas) found we not beautiful and smells of stale water also it here. The qualified impression then fortunately again, as we the Playa Blanca and the first Aras saw.
The rooms were we disappointed because they are close to each other with the other cabins and no terrace was. Furthermore, the hotel is on a huge area with some really long distributed. The hotel has simply no charm!
On the weekends it is want to relax in the hotel, as many locals here. The is not bad after all further, however the restaurant is completely overstrained. Some guests, time to 19 hours as were the not, 30 minutes in line had to be able to eat. So something is in our opinion not at all! Also the food at the hotel the flavor, but it is not hopelessly bad. The service is so-so. If you arrive new, is one for the first time did not asked if you wanted to drink something. If the waiters on it have and personable, as it was the case with us god was, then one is asked rather.
The drinking water one gets what, we could not. It came us before like chlorine from the pool. It was definitely not from the bottle, and if you wanted from the bottle, you had to pay for it. This prompts a horrific suspicion on.
Everywhere in the restaurant are good signs, that the guests should please not the animals feed, as this would affect their foraging, what we found was in order. We asked us but then, why especially on the weekend, when it is full, the monkeys for breakfast from the restaurant were fed to the tourists to keep you entertained. As rightly what can not be. Particularly annoyed waiter tried again for part 'scale' noise to pass. Everything was very strange.
In conclusion, we would have been really annoyed us the plague, if this hotel for the whole journey we had booked. The excursions offered are crazy (actually already a joke) and one missed almost everything, if you are traveling from Costa Rica only this hotel looks! A stay in this resort is very recommendable. In our travel time there were hardly people in the hotel, somot we had the beach, the pool bar and the rest of the hotel almost just for us. On every Fallschlagen a trip to the even active Volcano in.
And if you're lucky can go to one of the two bays the to the hotel belong ( with the higher waves) with the ' Hausschildkröten ' swim ;-= ) read more

After a week of round trip (Neckermann: highlights of Costa Rica) selected as we have Punta Leona hotel for the second week. We have it not regret it. A great hotel in the middle of nature; with lots of animals. Here you don't need entertainment, it is so much to see and to watch.
If you are looking for Costa Rica comes, will also no 5-looking for star hotel.
For us it was a successful holiday with many memorable experiences with nature and animals. Always the camera ready at have.

A really nice resort is a small village in the middle of the jungle. If you're rich-tropical vegetation estimates, the moreover is well maintained, and in the presence of exotic animals pleased is the place to be. For our son Max and also for us it was like a zoo without fences with capuchin monkeys, coatis, ARA's, anteaters, many iguanas... For us it was the right place, to rest after a round trip a little. Everything was very quiet, no music, no entertainment, no beach vendors!
The was clean and well maintained facility. The bungalows are functional, cleaning/laundry change was the best.
The food in the main restaurant was simple, but very hygienic. (Only the low was scandalous.) we have always found something to eat and also always trouble with something and drinks. Service was practically not exist, no training or organisation. (Here the pennt management!) the wine was superb, beer OK! The best was actually the atmosphere.
Most ... of the time of the day were we at the Playa Blanca. Very beautiful beach, super clean. The small restaurant for lunch have we visited a simple card-like, but everything was okay, even the service (after small lubrication)! If you snorkel/masks possesses, it should take quiet, with calm but it is a nice pastime. Several turtles have seen moraines and nice.
At the bar you can get an all inclusive-guest a kind of children's birthday-menu, but also the fee-drinks were only cold colorful liquids. Good rum coke in cans chilled in the supermarket for little money it.
Be careful! If batteries chargers or similar, respectively, should an adapter thereby have also, as something you could borrow not! read more
