Great location, top breakfast buffet, recommendable nonethel

Foscari Palace offers not only a perhaps the best breakfast buffet of the city, a wonderful roof top terrace with views of the Rialto market, big room with equally spacious baths (and the hot tub and the steam shower clearly already better Times have seen ), but also almost perfect Base from which to exploration from Venice. Directly in front of the hotel there is a traghetto stop - so if you want a inexpensive gondola ride over the Canale Grande want to make, is in the right place here. A traghetto crosses the Canale Grande, has space for about ... 14 persons, is a real gondola and the travel costs only about 50 cents. Venetians use this gondolas to the Canale Grande easy to cross. read more

Beautiful, centrally located hotel with drawbacks archived

The hotel was relatively modern Venetian style. It was not very large, which spread a nice atmosphere. Everything was clean. As far as I know the hotel was booked with breakfast only, but that did not matter if you sometimes enjoyed to dine out. The guests were mixed. Italian, British, Dutch and German speaking guests. All pleasant tourists. There was a little drawback anyway still. We had booked through the hotel portal with three letters and had allegedly a bottle of water inclusive. It was missing. On the last day a part of the ground floor was under water. But ... that was to be expected everywhere in Venice. read more

The rooms were clean. The room cleaning maid cleaned the rooms every day and changed the hand towels completely, if the hand towels were left on the floor. The furniture was not the newest, but perfectly ok. There was a flatscreen TV with a German channel (Sat 1) and a minibar (content cost extra). The room safe was free of charge. The air conditioner we did not use due to the weather.  The rooms, as far as I know all had a "shower temple" in combination with a whirlpool. The makeup mirror was even lit. We had the room directly above the main entrance. Unfortunately a bit below the first window there was mold visible on the wall. In the "shower temple" a nozzle was missing . When showering there I always stuck my finger in, so that the other nozzles were working properly. The makeup mirror was not attached to the wall properly. And in the shower the water ran over the edge over the floor to the door. Which was why the door frame was also slightly blackened. Once the other guests next door could be heard enjoying the whirlpool at 10 pm (shower noise and laughter). But this only lasted about 30 minutes, which for us was still within reason.

The breakfast was not so plentiful as the hotel was also relatively simple and small. We always got a table directly. Drawbacks for the scrambled eggs (tasted a little floury), for the tablecloth which has not changed (we left on the first day a small stain that was there until the last day) and for the sometimes slow refill of the breakfast offer. On the roof there was a lovely roof terrace. Really great if the weather was nice. Unfortunately we did not have the time to spend an evening there.

The service was friendly and helpful. They also spoke German, but at first they didn't use it. So we only noticed at departure that almost all receptionists spoke German. As I said, the room cleaning was always accurate.

The location was remarkably convenient. The hotel was right on the Grand Canal near the Rialto bridge on a busy shopping street. Whoever liked: exit the square in front of the hotel, walk to the shopping street and turn to the left after about 50 meters was the only McDonald's in Venice. Also helpful: A further 20 meters across the bridge was a supermarket. As a tourist, there were relatively few supermarkets there. Therefore, it was worth mentioning. Otherwise, everything was relatively expensive. A street next to the hotel, marked by a very inconspicuous sign, there was a vaporetto docking station. For the arrival and departure, it was possible to walk to the transfer boat Alilaguna at the dock station Rialto. Or just use the vaporetto.

Good location, large and clean rooms archived

The location of the hotel is very good, the Vaporetto pier is only one minute away. Our room and bathroom were sufficiently large. Unfortunately, the room was facing a just 2 meter wide alley, so that we looked directly at a wall. Accordingly, the room was quite dark. However, since we only had to sleep at the hotel, it did not bother us that much. The hotel has a beautiful terrace, unfortunately, the bar up there was closed most of the time. Breakfast was a small catastrophe during the first two days (dishwater coffee, bacon and scrambled eggs cold and ... inedible - probably already from the previous day), after that it was good and sufficient. read more

Great Hotel on the Grand Canal archived

All brand new and freshly renovated (at least how it looked in March 2009), spacious room, large bathroom, all accessible for disabled, very clean, very still, air conditioner to heat, or cool. Flat-screen TVs (there was only SAT1 and Eurosport in German), minibar and min eral water for our welcome. Beds with no foot bedstead, therefore, best suited for tall people. Hairdryer in the bathroom.

The breakfast room was clean, and despite few tables never crowded, even by Italian standards the breakfast was very rich, only the sliced cheese was missing, but there were all kinds of coffee, fruit, scrambled eggs, ham, sausages, etc. ..

Very friendly. Multilingual reception, all wishes, if possible, were immediately fulfilled! Check-in from 2 pm (we were able at noon already to go in the room)

Located in the middle of Venice, right on the Grand Canal and the Strada Nova (the only main road). Peaceful because on one side was the Canale Grande, at the other a small lane and at the front the quiet square of Santa Sofia. Next to the front door was the Traghetto station to the fish market, a lane farther the Vaporetto station Ca'Doro, for docks for the airport shuttle boat (Fundamente Nuove) it took 7 minutes, to the Rialto Bridge, 5 minutes walk. Quiet but still could hardly be more central downtown.
