Hotel Mermaid^{(3 stars)}

The furniture were a three star hotel, somewhat older, but functional. The air conditioning worked perfectly. German tv was not to receive. Daily fresh water refilled, as well as tea bags and coffee refilled. Bathroom and toilet were in very good condition. Due shower was very large.

There was a main restaurant in the first stick where the breakfast, lunch and the dinner offered. In addition there is on the ground floor an air-conditioned snackroom, where one until 24 hours fresh ceylontee making facilities. From 3:30 p. m. were also small snacks available. The food in the restaurant was great. Here i would smooth 6 stars. There was something there for everyone. Jedfen day another soup plus fish, hähnchengerichten, meat or pasta. The friendliness the staff was great. In the restaurant, at the front desk, room service, the entertainment team around chaminda, the pool boys-everywhere we were friendly, whether with or without tips friendly and courteous. The Hotel Mermaid is located secluded from main street. From kalutara right on the sandy beach. It has about 80 rooms for up to 150 guests. Size, condition and cleanliness were completely alright. Tv is available, almost but unnecessary, because it was no german transmitters gives. Air conditioning alright

There was a main restaurant and a snack bar, both in very hygienischem condition. %blank% the diversity, as well as quality of the food were great. There were both 'european' meals, but also singalesische kitchen (delicious, but very spicy) We had twice à la carte (Seafood-plate, lobster plate ), very recommendable. But one should remember, that the specified prices still two different taxes, will, which at the present the bill really shows. So a little watch out.

All the staff were always friendly and tried hard. The rooms and restaurant were clean and also on special requests were immediately reacted and the whole also without tips. Great!

The sports and entertainment program was totally adequate and depending on how you want, you daily with or if not then, remains just relaxed. Chairs are sufficiently available. Disco and kids club are here, negative, what but also deliberately is organized.

Room i had somehow in of the category 'hotel general mitbewertet.

Dining: Meals were delicious, for us europeans, the food as the indians next door, but of course there are small differences. Curry and sharp food is actually there. The diversity the food is for me as the 4 star hotels, which i in Tunisia, Egypt and Turkey know. So as three stars hotel is the gastronomy in my eyes underrated. There were small salad buffet, soup of the day, the meat dishes, such as beef, chicken and fish. These three there was meat every day in different variations and flavors. Sometimes so as one it from the taste was rather knows and sometimes with typical spices from Sri Lanka. Furthermore, there were rice, potatoes or pasta typical sri lankisch with curry or spicy. A chef prepares dishes from the eyes of the tourists, 'show cook, live-cook'. Desserts were also delicious, there is a or other, which one in Germany much tasteful will take place, but it is all a matter of taste. Fruits like pineapple passionsfruckt and melenen were always there. For breakfast could you actually british breakfast ☺ the consisted of white beans in tomato sauce, fried eggs, bacon and sausage, is really solid ☺ If you see someone, the this combination in a plates, is most likely a british. There is also for breakfast cheese, jams and naturally original jam. There is then the sweet pieces or two or three of them, of course not comparable to the products from the bakery which one knows, Croissant, not the best french but everything as a package to grade you can perfectly a very good note give.

Once the check-in. What is Sri Lanka without spa? The hotel also has spa, sauna and steam bath, this i have not tested, i every day on routes was. So we could the beautiful hotel see, the pool and a little bit the sea, a few trees were for the sea view in the way, but it was still very nice. There are also rooms, which a balcony, the really had a sea view. The tv was a programme for each language for everyone, in our case, dw (Deutsche Welle). The staff was really very friendly and actually really gladly helped and like served, in other countries i know the really completely different. The hotel is clean, the staff took care of that, as you can see the kitchen and the hotel complex. The complex has no typical children's entertainment staff and no pool for the little ones, so it is not a typical club hotel as in the Turkey where you the children the staff the whole day committed, but in all other things framilienfreundlich already. I was on the first floor, the hotel has no elevators for its two floors, don't worry the luggages shall not itself, a service are there already. For wheelchair users there were the rooms on the ground floor, there you could without barriers go. The hotel has an internet room. The rooms were with approximately 30 meters enough big and spacious. The bathroom as well. Furniture was typical in dark wood decor. What definitely not a modern sill is. The tv was a somewhat older crt tv. There was a table and 2 armchairs and a large wall mirror. Fridge, kettle, telephone and in-room safe are also available. Coffee and tea were refilled daily. The rooms were cleaned daily. (really cleaned and not only with the feather dusters the dust spread) our room boy Nihal has here very good job. He was also an example, that there are people, about a board milka chocolate almost more than a tip. What he, of course, still of us got.

There was a restaurant and a bar. Breakfast, lunch and dinner there were in buffet form. The food was very good and there was plenty. Mostly chicken, fish or lamb in all variations. But also pork or beef. For cleanliness and hygiene were very important to them. As soon as a guest leave his place had, was immediately from the staff newly restocked. You could also special requests cannot comment on, which was immediately fulfilled. We are basically only after the 3. or 4. day tips, in order to see how the staff react. Here i must say, there was a marked difference. Whether with or without tips, we were always the same friendly and accommodating served.

The friendliness in this hotel was awesome. Wherever you looked, everywhere the staff was and tried the guests all needs to fulfill. And you saw it to them, that really with joy did. Only the hotel management was a bit too arrogant. There were also some situations, in which you can tell, that the communication between the individual managers didn't work. So we had this trip as a honeymoon and wanted, as it in the hotel description to read was, our requirements for a romantic dinner, free massage and so on assert. But unfortunately, the only after some discussions, using the TUI tour guide. With foreign languages is also so a thing. The manager and the employees at the reception spoke only a worse english. However in the restaurant was the complete staff also very hard to speak german. There was no, not at least a few phrases in german language said. And if we a few new words in german taught had was their joy large. The service with complaints was also to be praised. We had a problem because of our in-room safes. This was within minutes.

As mentioned, in this hotel the relaxation factor largely written. This happened the entertainment rather quiet in the background from. There was the possibility, at water polo, water aerobics, table tennis or Beachvolleyball to participate. All this took place in a private place, so other guests not disturbed thereby were. Furthermore, from the hotel massages and yoga classes are offered. Here i would like to in any case the two entertainers chaminda and shinantha mention. The mermaid is a small, well arranged hotel. Optically already a bit shabby but very clean. The types of people were in our travel time mixed. Few german holiday-makers, a few austrians and russian guests and many english tourists. All in all a buntgwürfelte society the friendly and considerate are asking.

The hotel lies directly at the sandy beach. Swim while we were there because of the very strong current but unfortunately not possible. We had all-inclusive, delicious. Wide choice - fruit, vegetables, different meat places, curry, cakes, drinks. A large restaurant, clean.

Good service, although the waiters hope on tips, to the exaggeration, that we sometimes by several waiters were served. A large garden, where chairs are, we can always a quiet place. A small pool, but it was never crowded. Always available mattresses and towels for sunbathing. The beach is not the greatest, during our stay we could, due to surf, not in the sea swim. Wi-fi available, otherwise in hotel costs internet 350 rupees per 30 minutes

The rooms with a balcony are spacious, with a double bed, wardrobe, work desk and seating area. Every room has a bathroom with a toilet, shower and wash basin and an airco. In every room there are tv (in german but only the Deutsche Welle) and radio with cd player. Also has a free in-room safe and a kettle the facilities. The mini bar however is extra charge. The front desk and other areas of the hotel you can from the room by telephone reach.

The hotel has a large dining room, two bars and a snackraum. The food, which in buffet form offered, is mostly typical for the country, so asian spicy. But there is also pasta and pizza and tons of fruit and vegetables, as well as desserts. But also soft drinks (water, sodas and juices) and alcoholic beverages (beer, liquor and mixed drinks) are inclusive services. All wines (per bottle around 15 to 20 Euro), some cocktails (around 3 to 5 Euro) and special menus like for instance roasted Hummer or a seafood platter (etwa 15 Euro) you can at a charge order.

The staff are very on the happiness of the guests carefully. All of the staff speak english and a few also some german. The rooms are cleaned daily, there is every day fresh towels and bed linen. For a small fee, about 0,50-1 Euro per garment, its clothes within two days cleaning. A doctor there are in the hotel not, this however the front desk be requested.

In the property you can some sporting activities follow. These include a fitness centre, table tennis, squash, water polo and yoga. Every evening there was in the bar area a cultural event in the form of dancing, music and shows. In the reception area of the hotel you can use free wi-fi in internet log in. As already said swimming in the sea not on the whole year is possible. The alternative is the 25 times 10 meters large pool, in which one about 28 °c his laps. Beach chairs for sunning or relax is plenty of available, around the pool with large umbrellas, otherwise among the many palm trees. To relax there is a spa area with massages, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room.

At the hotel it concerns a smaller hotel with about 80 rooms, the two buildings, on two floors. In the main building there are the entrance area with the reception and the restaurant. The hotel is in a good and clean state. The hotel is a pure all inclusive hotel. The hotel guests %blank% especially from the german-speaking area, from great britain and Russia, a few from Sri Lanka itself. The age structure was 30 to over 60 years.

The hotel is from the airport by bus (express bus), a taxi or the trip with booked transfer in around 2 to 3 hours to reach. It is located directly at the sandy beach. Swimming in the sea is because of the südwestwindes and the associated high waves and undertows not possible year-round at the ballonhotel. There is an on-site pool to relax and one for sporting activities. The next larger town, the city kalutara is located about 2 kilometers away from the hotel. Here one has countless shops and banks for shopping or withdraw money. On the complex there was a jeweler and a gift shop. Excursions in the various regions and to the various sights of the country can be accessed via a tour operator or via the hotelangeschlossenen taxi service book. Nor it is better the hotel experience with a week-long trip to combine.

The rooms are big enough, clean and bright! You really makes an effort to make everything right for the guest! Thank you Sam!

The atmosphere in the dining room was pleasant, the waiters always attentive, and the dishes were well placed and there was something there for everyone. The sweet corner, hmm delicious!

The friendliness in general is very good, naturally like elsewhere also, all tips, that still. With the language there was not a problem everyone worked really hard with us to speak german and there is still more to learn! We had a room issues, which also quickly resolved, i was in room 363,first row very nice!

Both pools were always clean, if only a couple leaves that, they were immediately removed. Entertainment was also, if you like it could use it.

We have from 15-09-2012 to 29-09-2012 our vacation on the recommendation of friends, which may there were spent. It is a small and cozy hotel. We had all-inclusive, and fully at our expense came, the food was varied and delicious! Especially the sweet corner! Also the rooms were always clean, the pageboys were always aimed at to know, if everything was okay (thanks to Sam) i had always flower blossoms on the bed! (even without giving any tip) of course there was also! Also the gardeners were always at work everything to maintain, a praise goes to she! Thanks to our guide jala the us to the excursions accompanied and us all important has shown, whether for elefantewaisenhaus or directly to the elephants and elephant riding, or we with him with the tuck-tuck kalutara and us fruits and fish market has shown. It is the dream of all women, and it is everything! (he is married and has 2 children not the as a wrong picture arises) if someone wants to see something ask at the beach only after jala! -the guests were from Russia, England and Germany all only wanted relaxation. You are immediately at the beach, this is not a joke he morning swept, we had to smile, but the woman deserves this a few rupees, and it is clean. If you to the main gate out, are small local shops, and right across the street! Kalutara it was about 10 minutes. Take a tuk-tuk it is worth it. ,for little money. (2 people 500 rupees) if you go on excursions want, ask in front of the hotel after jala he does everything possible currency exchange at the best exchange rate.

Size was ok. The mattress very, very thick. Slept very well. Bath was also ok, hair dryer was available. The air conditioning made correctly cold. A tv was there, but only the Deutsche Welle welcome. Boring. We had a terrace. Room was very clean.

There was only 1 restaurant and 1 bar. For a 3 star hotel was the selection of dishes large. There was always the same, but you could always find something to eat. The kitchen style was typical of the country something German, however in general very well seasoned. So hot. The restaurant we liked, since the very friendly and attentive staff was. We wanted no beer, Cola or water drink and a half bottle of red wine retreat. The we of course pay, was very expensive has circa 14 Euro cost. Tip we have in Dollar and at the end of a 5 euro bank note.

The friendliness was amazing, so what we have never experienced. Almost all really good speak German and tried to learn. Our room was very clean. The kettle and the water bottle were refilled daily. Evenings our bed turned down, again water refilled and a new moskitoplättchen plugged. Every 2 days I have 5 t-shirts to wash submitted. Cost circa 2.50 Euro. In the morning, evenings the laundry was returned. Our telephone in the room was not, it was immediately repaired.

Animation we did not get much, was next door. Next to the hotel was a small shop for shopping. The pool was clean. Loungers, cushions and towels were free. Nobody here loungers reserved, because there is enough were there. There was umbrella and many palms. The only thing that bothered us were the many crows on the palms nisteten and the whole day buidling and crying. Was pleasant the air-conditioned room with wi-fi access. We could free internet.

The complex was great. Size of the hotel approximately 72 rooms, U-shaped. Very well maintained, it was always something painted and reasonable kept. Cleanliness was capitalized here. We had all-inclusive. The beverage selection was not large, Cola, lemonade, soda, beer, orange juice and a local herb liquor. Everything else you had to pay. It were lots of guests from Russia since, but were pleasantly. All age groups were available.

Directly at the beach, only by a fence separately. Unfortunately were at the beach no chairs, only on the complex. The swim in the sea is impossible. The waves very high and wild. The next town- kalutara about kilometer away, the tuk-tuk ride away, circa 2 Euro. One can buy well. Colombo is about kilometers away. There you can even better shopping. Entertainment - every evening in the hotel. We have a trip by train the highlands were made. Than by bus the elephant orphanage, tooth temple, offered. Garden, herbal garden, and a tea plantation with factory inspected. Was great!
