After we in the morning Berlin at minus 8. degrees had left, was the arrival on the island when frühsommerlichen temperatures very pleasant. Of the hotel overall, as well as our rooms we were very positively surprised. The rooms were in freshly renovated condition, bathroom and toilets were clean and nothing to complain. The hotel guests were mostly german origin, a few but also english, dutch, french and russian nationality. read more

The furnishing and the atmosphere in the restaurant we found very pleasant and right any concourse-like atmosphere, as we have elsewhere have seen. The waiters were polite and attentive, ordered beverages was within a very short time at the table.

    The hotel is on a terraced landscaped hillside in the immediate seaside location, from our room with a terrace we could a magnificent view on the atlantic ocean and occasional passing ships watch. Booking a room with a view of the sea is recommendable. Otherwise you will find to several small einzelterrassen individual beach chairs, the free of charge could. At the bottom end the hotel is a pool, and a seawater pool, the for swimming appropriate are, because of the concreted ' lawn ' however not really for longer sit on. The bothered us however not further, since Madeira marriage not the classical bath island is.

Never again! This hotel belongs to both structurally, as well as as regards further deals with to Hotel Royal orchid in the immediate surroundings. The hotels share amongst others a fitness center, the indoor pool, an outdoor swimming pool, etc. During our stay we made acquaintance with ungeziefern, which we probably from reviews and adventures knew, but never itself experienced and therefore these animals always a fairytale stopped. Here we found it! The room service cleaned not, but distributed the dirt evenly. The furniture is from the 80. years and the seals of the windows to be desired! The staff ... we found as stolid and undedicated. We felt never so unwelcome! Madeira is one of the most beautiful islands, but not in this hotel! read more

We would stay here again have a vacation! We were in november 2012 due to construction in the Hotel Royal orchid in the roca mar moved. There we moved the room 715, which was a 4 bett room is, but the construction site furthest away, so that we the deafening noise not more had to hear. The cleanliness left much to be desired, it was cleaned daily, but only not carefully (s. pictures). We spend here 11 days. If we had been given the choice we would dearest again have left. In the last night, there was a storm with ... rain and we were at night at 4 o'clock about 2 centimeter high in the water and got from the reception large towels and wiped efficient the water, which through the closed window came in. On the next day there was an apology and the offer back to move, but for one night we wanted to not more, we just wanted to go home. We were very disappointed and had our until now worst holiday! read more

    4-bed room with two rooms. Reasonable size. Small terrace with a wonderful view, for 4 people would be the terrace cramped. There was several times vielfüßige critters and dusting is not one of the strengths there. The furniture was rather 80., the bathroom is partly renovated (blue and beige tiles). The bettvorleger i would my visit not offer more, would be better not any. Flatscreen tv, air conditioning, hair dryer, safety deposit box for a fee (8€ per week). Overall rather worn and not to be comfortable.

    One becomes full, but nice surprises does not exist. We had the half board, the beverages we got after our complaint and our move into the roca mar in the evening free of charge, what unfortunately regularly to negotiate with the waiters led. Time it was ok, then they said, there is only one free drink, we felt daily as requestor. If you cutlery not retaineth, it will after the first hallway to the buffet with cleared and there is no cutlery at the buffet available. You get the impression, that more than once to the buffet go is not allowed.

    Together with the royal orchid use. Because of the construction, it was many corners too loud. The fitness studio is well equipped, but we didn't use it. Turkish steam bath and sauna present. Oasis is the but not everything. The outside area is actually very nice built into the hillside, however the noise the presslufthammers us the use vergrault.

    The hotel is in a very nice location. We had a nice view. The bus stop line 155 is no 5 minutes away (simple drive to Funchal 2,10 Euro). Funchal is approximately 13km west. The airport is approximately 10 kilometers away, there is no aircraft noise. Nearby there is a supermarket, car rental, restaurants, and a gift shop with a very friendly seller!

Those who seek peace and quiet is very good repealed. Rooms without fridge is not up-to-date. For Behiderte, since lots of stairs unsuitable. Shops rarity. Excursions very good. Very nice terraces, fantastic views, free -shuttle bus to Funchal, jacuzzi, gym, sauna for free in the neighboring hotel. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. Definitely again! Very near to the airport. read more

If you only value on the stunning views and otherwise no expectations is, is there in good hands, we were to the 3. to 2003 and 2007 at the rocamar, now 2012 for the last time. It must urgently be renovated, the old worn establishment is located on the border of the acceptable, you the hotel can now than dump title. Internet there only in the bar and at the front desk. read more

As room not above the bar are, there is now a daily program of live band to folklore dancing, weddings etc. , we had room 718, somewhat further away with perfect view of the atlantic ocean with however too small balcony.

A hotel where the room already seen its best years behind itself! It should once again be renovated! Some rooms have their balcony the wall the neighboring hotels! We had hit the jackpot, but could after two days and 180, -€ extra charge a room with magnificent view of the sea relate! At-and days of departure can it be, that the room only in the late afternoon to be cleaned! In June then suddenly a public holiday announced and one should for its food extra pay. Have almost all not made and had then for dinner in the neighboring royal ... orchid go! A very nice insolence! In the location of the hotel is a rental car definitely recommendable! For southern away a three star hotel at best! Recommendation only with restriction. read more

Hotel with a great location and a fantastic view (room with a view of the sea, costs about 50 €per person who was worth it) very good shuttle connection to Funchal three times daily. You should definitely take a rental car and drive along the coastal roads. The hiking in the mountains is just great. read more

beautiful, quiet hotel in gorgeous area on a cliff, in an area of Madeira, the climatic is favored, where almost always the sun shines, which special in the mountain the island as well as in the North not always the case is (we have spent the whole wonderful Island ). Because the hotel because of the cliffs and a impressive Surf for children actually is unsuitable, it is one of the few places, where you peace unhitch can. Very clean hotel, international audience with an average age between 40 and 50 years. From room with breakfast until full board is ... everything possible. read more

Whoever likes to have a coffee and good food, should only night without/book with breakfast (espresso = had to be paid, is however delicious) and eat in the area, for example, à la carte restaurant tropical or villa Ventura grill restaurant or in Funchal. Rooms with view of the sea are beautiful and sufficient. Small flaws were included, but tolerable. Friendliness of the staff not at all, rather musty and annoyed. Good starting point for excursions, it was advisable to rent a car, but you have to with a 'Swiss cheese' implication, as many old coastal Roads were closed and ... replaced by tunnel. Who a vacation with excursions, that means the island to explore would like and to a beach holiday not do without want is right at home here! The connection to Funchal is very good and there is the excursions and tours all plan. (no matter wether bus tour, hiking or boat trip). The hotel is, for children, i am not so good, because there was no beach available and the sea only ladders and stairs is available. Sunbathing area for sun bathing and relaxing very nice, small 'terraces' allow something' distance ' to other hotel guests. The pool is every ... 2 days emptied and fresh water filled. (very clean) swimming in the sea (totally clear water) is very pleasant since we had ladders directly into the deep water. To eat: we only booked with breakfast - this was for our standards very good-there was everything! ( rolls, bread, muesli, yogurt, sausage, cheese, eggs, jam, honey, beans, bacon. Coffee, juice, tea ) the possibility evening meal to go is several times: restaurants including fish and meat dishes, as well as pizzeria directly in the area. Small supermarket near hotel. We were very satisfied and could in this holiday to relax and the island explore. read more

The rooms and the facilities of the hotel and the breakfast they are more like a three star hotel. Have tried to switch rooms but only the same room a floor higher offered. The cleanliness was OK, although everything was already seemly worn and in a lot of limescale on fixtures is. In our living room it bothered, that you will probably be woken by the hammering workers, the flexen in your workshop and. The breakfast buffet had a very limited selection and tinned fruit or mushrooms for us not a four star hotel. The location and all are great ... but the above-mentioned ' snacks 'may easily spoil the holiday. read more

We were very positive surprised with the room, we had booked double room without sea view, we got a room with sea view and a small kitchenette. Since we had only breakfast, where the eggs almost always cold and the coffee is very hard to get used to otherwise selection Okay, I can say nothing about the rest of the food. In the surrounding area but there are plenty of restaurants where one can go well to meals. Small supermarket is nearby. We were with our 7 year old son and other destinations were out, so we have also no ... entertainment, etc. and missed. There is no beach in front of the hotel, but a small ocean water pool and direct access to the sea via ladders and stairs. Overall it we liked it. read more

The hotel is in a good location immediate over the sea. We had a room with extra charge for additional view of the sea, what I would absolutely recommend can. The furniture is quite worn, but daily very properly cleaned. We had bed and breakfast, but the breakfast buffet (with small variations) was the same every day, but if like me you like eggs, you will easily get full. Very enjoyable at the breakfast was the nice staff, the always and never take nachlegte all meals, so that you also shortly before the end of the buffet had full selection. ... The breakfast terrace, you should definitely use when weather permits. For dinner I can't make any statement, since we always ate at a nearby restaurant, however, nearby there are not too many. I recommend a rental car all, individually the hotel. read more
