Very nice old Kolonialhotel with brilliant atmosphere, great service, tasty kitchen and great beach area -
We would have missed something, if we are not between the tours there come would be.
A highlight for example is the open restaurant with a view of the skyline from Colombo. read more

Makes already impression if one arrives and is served from nice ' Soldiers' welcomes. Old venerable hotel, for 200 years for the beloved of the British Sri Lanka government built. (it must be a woman have been!). We had for 5 nights in the best room type booked (Seeview - room 453-700, -over meiers), modern room, large, spacious, clean, great balcony. Very very nice breakfast, friendly service-there was nothing to moan about. Wi-Fi only for a fee (Wiki card 1 hour -250 Rupiah = 1.80 euro applies to 24 h), beach of the hotel- clean and tidyfor high waves ... the hotel can't-bathing was only very limited possible), pool ( until 20 o'clock open) with the shortcoming, you must always through the restaurant go, even if already Büfettzeit is. There is a little gloss under, as to the buffet always smart dress is required (long pants, shirt):
Buffet in the evening from 19 o'clock, changing issue- great quality and selection( price 2500, -= 17 euros) you can nowere very good and rich food.
Warning at the end for the railroad: we had ourselves a day trip to Kandy by train booked.
Great access to the hotel from the train station MT. Lavina to the train station Fort. Back 19 hours-rush hour was the Nahverkehrzug so overloaded, the for us Europeans a akkute health hazard existed( 10 persons per square meter, 35 degrees despite open doors and window-Fall down impossible)- read more

We spent, as a part of our round trip, our first night in Sri Lanka in Mount Lavinia hotel.
It is a venerable, old hotel in the British style of the colonial era.
The room was from the size and furnishing was of high style. Everything nature tiptop clean.
The dinner and the breakfast was in buffet form enough. Tasted very good. Whether probably when we first breakfast English and Sri Lanka style were a little overwhelmed (very spicy ).
We found, that the Mount Lavinia hotel flair had and it was a nice entrance for our round trip. read more

After a tour of Sri Lanka was the hotel Mount Lavinia our last stop. Our room was on the fifth floor. A great view over the sea and a part of the hotel. The room was very spacious with everything that belonged to it. The bathroom was clean and nice the staff was very friendly. We had room service, it worked quickly and easily. The food was tasty and something for everyone. Very nice food for dinner on the terrace with a beautiful view over the sea.
Our stay at the hotel Mount Lavinia was short-lived however, we were very ... satisfied. read more

Of course the Mount Lavinia hotel with a colonial ratio. The latter applies for a stay in the historic main building; the first room offered in the newer part " outstanding " through a very low ceiling and rather cramped space. In the old part of it still looks like, as to Hermann's hometown times and an awful lot was not renovated since then. But everything was there, which one needs for a four day stay and you can breathe history. Clear crawls the shower curtain, but it's clear you better, or leave it. However, the train is a real ... ordeal. If the mopeds not just the sound of the oncoming train drowns, close to the old engines with Schrittempo and deafening the horns from the train station (even at night!). Our room was as the crow flies about 80 m away from the track and we were in the middle. Nevertheless, it is a hotel with a great atmosphere and very good food. In the nearby restaurant " The ANGLER " have the best local food throughout the holiday to us! read more

We, (2 women) at this stylish hotel on the whole quite comfortable. Unfortunately, there is a problem with water, the air conditioning leaked in our closet. The security guard, of around the o'clock before our balcony on-and off went, was not always reserved and stared often brazenly gone back into our room. So we had to sometimes the Verd unkel ND closed curtains. The beautiful house, the comprehensive breakfast buffet and the friendly service at the meals made up for the faults and we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

The hotel in general is British influenced. It is an old fashioned colonial style hotel, but very charming.
Small and tasteful details make the hotel very cosy and unique. The rooms are large-scaled and equipped with everything you need such as minibar, office desk, big bed, additional pillows and blankets, water boiler.
Everything is very clean but behind the front the hotel needs a complete overhaul.
We booked a 2 weeks stay with bed and breakfast. The guest structure consists of middle aged up to elder people mainly from the UK and Australia. read more

We had a room Baywing (no 550) with a beautiful view of the sea. The proximity of the line to hear, but not particularly. The staff was always friendly and courteous.
The food was varied (daily changing theme buffets) and was delicious.
I believe there is no better place for a romantic dinner, as on the patio of the Mount Lavinia Hotel. We have every day at the colonial atmosphere enjoyed. read more

Mold and rude staff in the four star archived

The first four nights we had " " only a standard room. Actually one should for a hotel of this category expect, that it was enough if you want to spend the day trips and only at night in the room. Unfortunately we had not only mold in the bathroom, but also hundreds of small ants. The balcony is by far considered terrace above, the only thing missing were the grid to truly feel holed up. The staff was more than eager tips real service. For once autotüre are two €prepayment required at time of booking. It was one night ... to three o'clock a man in our room for the minibar to check Email. ten minutes later took place a call to the front desk to apologize. The following day, we are 15 minutes before the end of the breakfast. Before we could sit at the table, we were directed toward the buffet because we could get anything else.
At the pool there were 5! Umbrellas and 10! Beach chairs. For a hotel of this size is an indictment!
The overall impression, the upgrade to a better room on the last night not used. When we were debating the beach to the nearby Bubu bar wanted, told us the security, we would have to go back to 22:00 o'clock!
Very good was the support of Mrs AMA bandara, the for us for a date in the palm leaf library has arranged.
Thank you Mount Lavinia, we won't be staying there again! read more
