We had a really beautiful stay. Small tip: the 5th floor is the best, with a view of the roofs of Nizza. We have when booking directly please on the French registered, US such a room to book. Which worked well. A experiment, it is worth it. The hotel is very recommendable and is centrally located between train station and beach, for excursions by train and bus very suitable. Nice were drinks in the minibar been. read more

The elevator needs getting used to ( old). The hotel has no pool, but you can the pool the neighboring hotels ( relatively small) share. The from us used rooms were pleasant peacefully located. The hotel is 5 minutes away from the beach. read more

Beautiful, refined hotel in a great location close to the town center and to the beach. We had a somewhat old-fashioned room with a balcony and view to the street. The bed had lots of different pillows, comfortable mattress, there was extra Ceilings and in general was the room of cosiness hardly be topped. Only one negative is the bright hall lights, the in night as well each corner ausleuchtet through the cracks of the somewhat loose door penetrates. Bathroom (even with hip bath) large enough and clean, linen change and cleaning of the rooms immaculate.
To the train station ... it was 10 minutes walk, so perfect for daytrips to Cannes, Grasse, Monaco or to one of the many beautiful villages on the coast.
Breakfast buffet for French conditions top, the service was always friendly, left and accommodating. At the front desk you could also a good standard of service notice, the cautious but resolute friendliness of the staff shows good school.
Free use of pool, roof terrace and fitness area with a modern and sober kept hotel Splendid next door.
Together we Nizza with the great hotel holiday residence, the next vacation on the Cote d'Azur is at planning! read more

Super location! = to the center about 5 minutes by foot, to the airport about 15 minutes by car, train station about 5 minutes by foot- to Monaco, San Tropez, Cannes..., a lot of supermarkets, restaurants nearby. To the beach respectively Cote de Azur 5 minutes by foot.
Breakfast for Francis. Conditions very much selection. The rooms a little antiquated, but very clean. Staff are very friendly. All together-we will be back.
A trip to Marseilles with the TGV is worthwhile. In Germany book -2 persons there and back 110 Euro. One drives approximately 2 hours a tour. Nizza-Marseilles! read more

My mother and I found it a nice city hotel before, in which we felt very good. We slept very well, the windows are great isolated. It is from the airport with the bus line 99 (to Gare nice) for the four euro to reach. The maximum capacity is only a few minutes walk. An expensive taxi you can save. The hotel welcomes you with a French flair due to the typical haussmannian façade. The front desk and other staff was friendly and professional. The rooms are comfortably furnished. A tv and a telephone were available. Only the cooling of ... the mini bar was not a hundred % and in the bathroom was missing a shower possibility. The bathroom in itself was modern. There was a bathtub, but no shower curtain available. Safety deposit boxes are not directly in the room, but in a separate room in the lobby. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious. Only the hard boiled eggs were not freshly prepared. All in all a very well located Hotel, in order to explore nice and surrounding countryside on foot and/or by bus/train. Note: If you want the rooftop terrace with pool and Jacuzzi, as well as the wellness area of the neighboring splendid-hotels. We had no opportunity for lack of time. But it looked nice, we had at times looked at (the splendid itself looks from the outside not inviting). read more

We had a room with balcony and large bathroom. The room itself was but very small.
The location of the hotel is OK. In the proximity of the airport, sea and old town, but was always a bit of a walk Walk... Since it is also central hotels.

The hotel is located in a quiet area, but still very Central, in a rather smaller street below. The old town of nice, the promenade, the main railway station/verse. Bus stops, shops and restaurants are only a few minutes walking distance to in reach.
Also the breakfast is worth mentioning, because it offers a lot of variety for french standards (for example, dark bread rolls, scrambled eggs, fried sausages, nature and fruit yogurt, three kinds of cereal).
In short, here the price/performance ratio, we would book again the hotel. read more

The hotel "Gounod" is a small, family-run business and a nice example of the pseudo-Baroque architecture of Nice at the beginning of the 20th century. It offers good quality at reasonable prices, the breakfast room is very personable and the buffet, although relatively small, surprisingly varied and was constantly refilled. The welcome at the récéption are very friendly, professional and speedily, the staff generally friendly and helpful. The wellness facilities of the 50 meters away "Splendid hotels" guests of the "Gounod" also available, but a short all appearances in the "Splendid" any welcoming impression. The pool: The Gounod does not have a pool, but guests have access to the pool of the neighboring hotel Splendid use the same Companie, as it is. The hotel has its own parking lot. Very important, as there are hardly any parking in the surrounding streets. The breakfast room is very small and so it is there were waiting times. Also the tables are so close together, that you effort hindurchzukommen between the tables. read more

The hotel Gounod is a family run Hotel, several brothers that run. The owners are represented in all areas of the hotel and the personal contact with the customer on a regular basis.
The hotel is ideally located, in a quiet side street but still walking distance to many restaurants and cafes. The old town and the flower market are within about one and a half kilometer distance. Promenade and train station are about 400m away equally to both ends of the street, which would make planning for excursions or beach trips very pleasant.
The hotel is not the newest ..., but it was always well maintained. The rooms have a romantic charm and are for today's standards quite large and comfortable. The rooms were cleaned daily and spotless.
Breakfast is served on the ground floor the selection was rather typical for France, but the Quality was good and fresh therefor.
The atmosphere and furnishings in the bar and the staff were always exemplary, very helpful and friendly. It prevails a family atmosphere.
Conclusion: one of the few hotels where I have felt very comfortable. Hesitate to recommend this hotel to others. read more

Recommendable hotel for a city trip to Nice. Very good location, in a few minutes you can walk to the Avenue des Anglais or in the center, in the east, this old town is about 20 minutes. Easy access to the airport with the bus number 99 right on to the train station only a few hundred meters away. My room was clean, there was even a tiny balcony facing the street. Bathroom a bit dated but they are well maintained. Service at the front desk and breakfast very friendly, really great. Breakfast buffet was measured at the reasonable price ..., very pleasant and of good quality. I would always book this hotel again. read more

The hotel Gounod is a well-maintained 3 -star hotel in a quiet, but central location. Some 400 meters distance you can easily walk to the train station with excellent links, for example to Monaco or Cannes (depending about 20 minutes by train, very reasonably priced tickets). It is also approximately 400 m from the famous beach promenade "Promenade des Anglais". The breakfast was proportionately very good but the buffet includes hot scrambled eggs and Bratwurst. As I have stayed at many 5 -star hotel worse breakfast. The staff is very friendly and attentive, speaks in any case English, sometimes also ... German. The standard room I cannot comment, as we luckily a fantastic beautiful suite. Bottom line: Even with a rather small standard room is the value for Nice excellent read more
