Staff has no knowledge of German. The selection of Kaltgetrenken (AI inkll. ) very low. At the counter could none German. The carpet has almost more holes than whole bodies, the drapes make the impression ( this is in the remaining for the whole hotel - enclosed dining room), that since the hotel was built of the hotel no washing machine seen. read more

This house accommodates very many Romanians. The behavior at the table is disastrous. The tables saw after eating from, as if a had been bombed. The staff had to every time asked, a fresh tablecloth to bring. Of alone that would be you never in the mind. The food has us not at all tasty. We felt, in case we in the hotel we could have stayed longer, of fruits fed. Outside we have 2 restaurant found, which were very good. We were both happy, as the 2 weeks vacation were gone. read more

Not recommended, since the way the Bedienens at the buffet of the other guests simply unappetizing and the offer of the hotel was to monotonous and not very tasty! In addition is the 'beach' much to far away from the hotel and it smelled unpleasant, since the beach a mole-like! read more

The hotel language was english moved on in the meantime, here is but also on a very low level. The hotel is dirty, the room had a musty smell, the food was cold, tasteless and monotonous. The room and hallways were the Bodenbelaege worn and stained. The minibar was refilled only against fee. The alcoholic drinks scheckten partly stretched. The hotel is not to recommend. The only light was the partial thermal baths. read more

The food was very bad and had absolutely nothing to do with five star. Unfortunately was Saiaonende , said the only in a pool water was, entertainment you had to look for it have still found very closely and not, pool bar closed very early, disco was even not more, and actually the staff was indifferent. It was more what of a retirement home, only old people and many of them with sprags or Rolator. read more

After we here at holidaycheck. de many bad reviews on the the hotel have read, we feared the worst already. When we arrived, but a nonsense, the hotel stands out in every way from the mass compared to other Bulgarian hotels out! The staff was both mostly very friendly, and also on cleanliness lacking it not. The facilities of the hotel is with a brilliant grounds, several bars, a very well-equipped gym and relatively spacious rooms very to be recommended. Also the food is compared to other Bulgarian hotels it is for each taste something for everyone and varied. Of ... course you can for the price and in Bulgaria no German 5 star kitchen Wait! What we found is, Sveti Konstantin not that as at the last minute-the booking directly at the gold beach is located. Party vacation here so can forget. Discos or clubs outside of the hotel are only with the bus or taxi in about a half hour drive to reach. For younger guests a further disadvantage as us (20 years): we were in the September and it were only older guests beyond the present 60, exceptions were rather rare. The beach was OK, but not especially beautiful. Firstly, since on mass tourism, and secondly, because there is a lot of concrete is to find, so very much to the benefit of fishermen and artificially Botten has changed. Therefore we were mainly at the beautiful pool area in the outdoor area of the hotel. All in all is the Grand hotel Varna with a clear conscience we believe that to 100% recommended, if a relaxing holiday is sought. read more

The check-in was swift and painless; in less than 3 minutes we had everything all in the hands, what we need. With the German language had the young girl only some minor problems. 5 Star rated the hotel was probably too high. 2 Buffets made all guests could choose your food. The selection was not so amazing - didn't really know what we had put on plate. But here is the saying: Andre countries - andre customs. However the staff were always polite and speedy. It was to note that the near end of season, as not always had plenty ... bar open so that the placards promised. But you also have the bar staff was mostly trouble, to meet our needs. However very bothered by the fact that at the bars in the building's was smoking. The room there was disgusting smoke still moved through the whole house and was not so Tingling for non-smokers. Nice for us was that we "yellow band" with our other properties in this hotel chain could visit to the bars. Overall it was a nice holiday. read more

Hotel has the charm from before 30Jahren, RDA pure relaxation. The rooms are only partially new. Room and hotel is very dirty, had should take you would rather not high. Half of the rooms in the strong Clorgeruch and the balconies are disgusting. The food is unilateral and not very tasty. The beach chairs at the pool and the bars are only partially including, mostly you pay for it (for example the are directly on the pool). The beach is far away and is served from 4 hotels used. My tip: find yourself something different to spend money read more

The hotel was a bit older, still from the "socialist days." The rich and powerful seemed to have spent their holidays here back at the time. Therefore, the whole area, the reception area and the rooms were very spacious. It should also be mentioned that the hotel had its own thermal spring which, together with tap water, supplied the indoor pool The overall condition was "still good", i.e. many facilities were in need of renovation, for example, some toilet doors didn't close, etc. But on the other hand, everything was constantly cleaned and wiped. The light leather furniture ... in the reception area and the hotel bars made a good impression too, along with the designer lamps and the marble floor. - As "simple all-inclusive guests", we felt just great sipping our free espresso or wine in the large hotel bar. The room was spacious, but already a bit run. The absolute highlight was the modern flat-screen TV with plenty of TV stations, also international ones We'd booked all inclusive and were a little anxious due to numerous "horror stories" we'd read. The food had "cafeteria quality", but there was always a rich and large choice (regularly refilled till the end). You should, however, not expect 5-star quality, if you didn't want to be disappointed. The food was comparable to a good 3-star hotel in Spain or a 4-star hotel in Tunisia. There were lots of German guests, and many old people who got various spa treatments in the hotel Apart from them, there were many local tourists and Russians, very little French and Dutch. read more

The room was spacious, but already a bit run down. The two big beds (queen-size) were a bit saggy, but still acceptable; there was enough storage space with shelves, drawers and an empty (!) fridge. The bathroom had an ugly plastic tub, but everything worked and was cleaned regularly. Towels were changed 2-3 times per week, bedsheets twice. There were comfortable plastic chairs, a small table and a drying rack on the balcony. View of the sea. Cheap room service. The absolute highlight was the modern flat-screen TV with several international TV stations.

  • Gastronomy
    4.0

For all-inclusive guests, there were many bars where you could have drinks, cookies and fruit till 11pm. The bar in the reception area (Bar Verde) made a particularly good impression, along with the pool bar with plenty of tables and seats. The meals were offered in the large dining room on the first floor. There were two buffets with a large choice for all meals, the food had cafeteria quality and wasn't very nicely arranged It was a great buffet for Bulgarian standards, but only met a 3-star hotel in Spain, or 4-star quality in Tunisia. The cuisine wasn't well-defined. Some examples: Breakfast: different sorts of bread and rolls, cold cuts, cheese, spreads, salad, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, scrambled eggs, sausages, pasta, tomato sauce, French toast, fried eggs, cookies, cakes, etc. Three different coffee machines (but some of them were always broken). Lunch/dinner: various salads, two soups, fish, meat, poultry, always a fried dish, a steamed and / or cooked dish, a potato dish, mostly casseroles, always fruit, pie, cookies, ice cream and cream for dessert. It was annoying that the service staff didn't manage to set the tables on time . Thus, we had to look for an empty table, get cutlery and napkins ourselves and could then go to the buffet.

  • Service
    5.0

The hotel staff was friendly, whether the reception staff, the indoor pool staff, the cleaning staff or the restaurant staff, etc. At the same time, however, we noticed that they seemed extremely busy. The same waitress worked at 7.30am and also at 9.30pm. - I can only imagine that this really takes it out of you. The reception staff and also some other staff spoke several foreign languages. No problems with English. The room cleaning was okay. We'd only one complaint, when the phone wasn't working properly. But that was handled immediately and got fixed the very same evening.

  • Sport & Entertainment
    5.0

The pool was huge, the indoor pool above average too. Huge lawn, plenty of sunshades, pool chairs and mats available. Entertainment was available, but was not used by us. There was a hotel disco and a bowling alley, which we didn't visit (the last two nights, a Friday and Saturday, the disco was closed for hotel guests because of a wedding). The fitness room had very good equipment. The beach was just a few minutes away. It was quite small and not too clean, but there were plenty of free beach chairs and sunshades for all inclusive guests, and even a nice beach bar. It was annoying that there was only one computer with internet access (free) for all the guests in the hotel; of course, it was always occupied.

The hotel wasn't located at the beach. To go to the beach, we had to walk a few minutes. The small shopping area of the town was right on the doorstep and offered a variety of restaurants and bars. Sveti Konstantin was generally a rather quiet place. There was much more going on in Golden Sands (could be reached by bus). Good shopping facilities in the next town, Varna. The bus ride there (station about 10 min. walk from the hotel) cost about one euro (1.60 leva) and took about 20 minutes. The area didn't seem to offer many excursion possibilities. In a country where I can't read the road signs because of the Cyrillic alphabet, I better not rent a car .. However, the tour operator offered some trips / events.

The hotel wasn't really nice from the outside, it reminded of former GDR buildings. Gray and not very inviting. Once you entered the recently renovated lobby, the impression you had from the outside changed, though. Very nicely done, friendly and bright, very modern furniture. The hotel complex was beautifully arranged, and especially in the evening, the poolside bar was nice to end the day in a cosy way, with varying music (every night a different theme such as R'n'B on Monday, House on Tuesday, etc.). The room we had seemed to be one of the newer or renovated ones. ... We arrived in the evening, so many things weren't seen right away. We noticed more and more things during the following days. On the first day, there were all kinds of international TV stations available. A total of about 180 stations from around the world were available, but the next day, there were only about 80 of them left. We often saw "no signal" on the screen. Even after complaining at the reception, the problem didn't get solved. Breakfast: - Very dirty dishes, not just once - No fresh juice, just sugared water which was supposed to be juice - Very poor food choice, I personally don't like to eat soups from the day before and casseroles which looked quite disgusting for breakfast. - Jam was almost always empty - Bad fruit, brown, almost black bananas, mouldy fruit - Very poor service they were just twiddling their thumbs and kept walking by our table with nothing in their hands during breakfast, while plates had already piled up. We'd booked full board which we didn't really use anymore from the second or third day on. My boyfriend had a worm in his salad on the second day, which really put us off. Most guests were middle-aged. Most of them were Bulgarians, Russians, but also a few Germans. The cleanliness left much to be desired, especially at the All-Inclusive pool bar. When taking a closer loook at it, we noticed quite some things such as mould on the sinks and joints, the coffee machine wasn't clean, there were totally filthy towels on the floor back in the small kitchen, and everything was messy. People who kept coming back there to get drinks got a strange look from the staff. The room wasn't vacuumed, we complained at the reception about the mattress cover being dirty (someone might have cleaned their hands with it after picking their nose, who knows-)), but unfortunately nothing changed. The bathroom was very dirty, there was mould on the joints, the whole shower curtain was mouldy, the toilet paper wasn't refilled, totally broken bathrobes, dirty and blotty "fresh" towels, the mini bar was disgusting and smelly, there were remains of dead flies and mosquitoes on the wall, the carpet was stained and dirty and and and it would take too long to list everything read more

    4.0

As described above, there were many places for eating, or just for having a drink in a cosy bar. The food was typical for the country, but there were also many German and Italian dishes... The food was quite okay, except when I had a fat, black fly in my tomato soup once. Shouldn't be compared to the food at home, though. The prices were very low.

The reception staff was very friendly and helpful, and they tried hard to speak foreign languages ;-) The rest of the staff, however, was impossible and totally unprofessional! No smiles and apparently very unmotivated. The room cleaning left much to be desired... The bedsheets were only changed once a week, if at all, I'm not so sure about it. When complaining, they promised to improve things, but unfortunately nothing changed.

  • Sport & Entertainment

There was a gym in the hotel and several sports facilities at the pool and the beach. There was a room with free internet access available. The large chairs around the pool cost about 12,50€ a day. I personally think that was extremely overpriced.

The hotel was right in the spa area Sveti Konstantin. A huge area with lots of hotels. A large shopping area with plenty of shopping facilities and restaurants right in front of the hotel. The beach was within walking distance. There were steep chairs down to the beach. The hotel beach area was marked, the beach chairs and sunshades were free. One day, the sea was full of seaweed and was very smelly, but when we came back several days later, everything was very nice and relaxing. There were plenty of excursions available, you best ask your tour guide about them. If you wanted to go to Golden Sands, you better took the bus. We had a very dangerous adventure trip in a taxi which apparently wasn't roadworthy anymore, I think the shock absorbers and tires were broken, and we couldnt fasten our seat belts either.

This hotel has a lot of the what you can do in the vacation now really not. The quality of all the hotels and ending in dealing with the guests (us). The room, also after complaining and change a disaster. Mold on the ceiling, stains on the carpet, dirty and worn out beds. The toilets in the inside area was totally dirty, urine and feces soiled. The children's swimming pool had torn with outstanding nails. Hot water was occasional to 20 hours around also not. Noise from the party music in the area until late into the night. The food ... was a week a little monotonous, the service was rude and unprofessional. The coffee machine could we us also not to go look. The hotel stars are on no well deserved! The joints in the bathroom as well as the shower curtains were moldy. We had the luck at least, to receive a room with new, beautiful furniture which according to the other tourists obviously was not the case throughout the hotel. Unfortunately we had a room two floors above a bar which was used by loudly celebrating private groups (including balcony) in our last two nights. Sleep was impossible.

For all inclusive tourists there was one restaurant and two bars. In the bars you got the usual and popular drinks. That was ok. The food was a complete disaster: No seasoning, luke warm and daily except for some small variations always the same. Basically the cups ran out, and finally when the new were brought, the coffee machine was empty. From 6pm there were no hot drinks anymore at the bar. Luckily, in Bulgaria there were restaurants outside the hotel for little money. We made ample use ot them.

The reason we chose this hotel were the thermal baths, which during our holiday were much too cold and were for the treatment of rheumatism and similar ailments entirely unsuitable. Weeks earlier, according to other tourists the temperature was higher. The only consolation was ILIAN: The massage therapist in the bazaar street right next to the Aldo supermarket. He was professional and managed to get me absolutely painfree. A daily treatment of over 7 days was required, but at the price of 20 Lewa the treatment was a present. Very many compliments and thanks to ILIAN.

Within walking distance from the hotel was located the "shopping mile", of course consisting of stores. The vendors compared with other countries very friendly, above all especially not too pushy. Varna or the Golden Sands were easy to reach with the bus for a bit of money (1 - 1.60 Lewa). Also a taxi ride was affordable (a trip for 2 persons: 10 Lewa, which was about 5 euros).
